Mugen Thread Not Bullshit free at all

HELLO EVERYONE!!!

I am new to the whole MUGEN deal as i have just started downloading chars and stages on Saturday. i’ve heard of MUGEN but thought it would be too damned complicated to get working on my own. I’m now using the Mugen Fighting Jam for a screenpack and was wondering if there is possibly a even better one I could download. Maybe I could even get some suggestions on the best/fun Characters to use. I could use any help and suggestion. I’m a huge CVS2, SF3 3rd Strike, MVC2, KOF2006 and GGXX fan.

It would be nice to join and become part of the mugen talk. If anything a lil help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

1st tip: avoid this thread; it’s no help at all…

LOL! Ok well would you happen to know where I can get some good characters that don’t glitch or maybe some really cool looking BGs? Any helpful tips would be great.

Check “Mugen infantry” for most things.

if you plan on using a ton of characters then get the “everything vs everything” screen pack. it has tons of slots.

You can add as many slots as you want yourselves, guys. You can do *whatever *you want with it. Don’t be scared to open a doc file, and edit some lines.

Get out of the “I can only download MUGEN shit” mentality. Make a stage, or you’re own motif. Add your own music, and stuff.

Make a character, or two. An original one at that. MUGEN is what you make it.

I have add music and stages. I’m not too sure on how to make stages but I’d like to try. I’m just getting into this thing so well see how well i stay with it. Where can I get chars like GOD RYU, GOD KEN, ORGE GOUKI, GOUKEN, etc? Some chars without glitches.

Also can you burn this thing on a CD to load it up later if you needed to?

Can someone please send me Mech Rugal by @ndroide please.

Thanks

mugen is like crack. its addictive

For me, I really understand the lure of MUGEN and then you get down to it and it’s a lackluster fighter with a medley of characters that don’t match unless you do excessive editing and no real theme.

It’s what you make it, but goddammit it takes too much work.

YES IT IS!!! SO FAR I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF IT! I’ll download so many damn chars and stages that i fall behind in actually getting them into the mugen game itself. It’s wild. But very fun I must say.

Try ShugenDo, too; it soon will be the online-enabled MUGEN alternative…

CVS2 Remixed

It’s coming soon. For more information, please visit this closed thread:

Sighs, I am seriously unhappy about that thread being closed, but hey…such as life…I guess…:rolleyes:!!!

Here is a quick layout of the upcoming game:

Ladies and Gentlemen of the SRK community:

I want to say thank you for inspiring me to come up with this idea! Now why do I say that? Well…this is the most competitive community to date…and that made me want to come up with a game that would challenge that. And make it fun…so with that being said I introduce this game to u. Now…it’s 96% done, I just have to add a couple more stages and music to go along with it. But then after I just need some help getting it available to download. For others to enjoy. If u don’t like what I did…by all means change it for the better…LOL, that’s what I did in the first place.

Now about the game:

There are about 100 characters…with “EX” Shin Gouki and “EX” God Rugal as boss characters. “EX” Shin Bison and Nightmare Geese (cvs2) as sub boss characters. And there are tons of Mid Boss characters. Mid boss are stage 5 (hard match) and stage 7 (expert match) fights!

Some of the new characters are (and by “new” I mean not featured in the real CVS2 game but have the CVS2 style gameplay):

  • Anakaris
  • Jill
  • Lilith
  • Urien
  • Zero
  • Hayato

but there are many more.

Then I have a self titled feature called “EX characters”

“EX” characters are there for fun and to challenge the CVS2 play style. There is not one EX character that can’t hang with the CVS2 play style. Thus to me balancing all the characters as a whole. Now mind u, I revolved the system around using EX groove…lol (with the CVS2 characters if before u start the match u may pick what groove to use…I highly suggest EX groove in this game. omfg so many options and it’s not broke)! But the damage is toned down and give every character fair game. This game is very combo friendly and NOT BROKE!!! I am one for flashy insane combos and I haven’t found one infinite in the game, and for a mugen platform, that’s pretty damn good!

I also want to add that some EX characters give u alternate play styles before the match begins. Kinda similar to picking grooves with CVS2 characters. So play as everyone to see the variety in the game.

So these are some of the “EX” Characters in the game:

  • Andy Bogard
  • Leona
  • W. Krauser
  • Hinata (from Rival Schools)
  • Fei Long

To tell the difference of characters, from “EX” and CVS2 play style, I have addes “EX” next to said characters. And yes there is more EX than CVS2 characters…but not by much.

Now…Is the entire original CVS2 character roster back, with CVS2 play style? No…LOL!!!

These are the following characters that are from CVS2, but in “EX” mode, I will also explain their position in the game:

  • King: regular character
  • Sagat: Mid Boss (as he should be)
  • Dhalsim: Mid Boss (all I have to say is naruto isn’t the only one with shadow clones…LOL)
  • Balrog: regular character
  • Morigan: regular character
  • Nakoruru: regular character
  • Eagle: regular character

I have spent months looking for CVS2 style play of these characters done right and failed! Finding Balrog and Dhalsim was impossible…LOL! But the characters I did find are the best, well to me, and I am 100% that they can hang. Especially Morigan…who was played by our beloved ShardzZero…and he quoted: “Now this is how Morigan should be!”.

I’m going to get this out of the way and say it…if u pick certain characters while holding start, u get alternate charaters…for example:

If u hold start while picking Kyo, u get Another Kyo with KOF 94 moves.

Another example:

Holding start on “EX” Leona, give u Orochi Leona from KOF 98.

Wheeew…so much typing…what else can I spoil and say? Oh yea, there is about 110 stages i the game each with a custom track selected by yours truly. But again, if u don’t like it…by all means change it.

I am going to say this:

I have been working on this title for 9 months straight. I was strongly dedicated into making a very balanced and enjoy able game. For me…LOL! Then when I shared it with others, high level gamers at that, they we like: “DUDE U FUCKING HAVE TO PUT IT OUT TO THE PUBLIC!!!”…LMAO!

But that is what they said. U have to understand, I’m Webster for those that don’t know me, and I play alot of fighting games. I’m not the best player…but I have a solid understanding for all of them. From Ninja Masters to Soul Calibur, from Tekken DR to Breakers Revenge…I love and play them all.

Well that’s all for now. The game will be released in a couple of days maybe tonight…if i can figure out how to put it up online to download…the game is close to 4 gigs. I really hope u guys enjoy it…but again, this was all for my personal enjoyment from the start.

I am content with my dedication and success with this project, and I hope my influence will touch someone fighting game soul…LOL!

hiya folks…freshly christened shoryuken member here., and i gotta tell ya…xmugen’s killing me…
i just got this 4.5gig (unzipped) pack giving me the following error :

"static/ash : can’t access tty, job control turned off
joy1key1 -joystick one to keys
using parameters.
joy2key2 - joystick two to keys.
using parameters."
and i rebooted with either 1 or 2 “S” controllers, but nothing…
Now for my xbox specifics///
it’s softmodded and sits on a 500gb seagate hdd and i installed xmugen in the F: part. given the E:\ only has about 700megs of free space… There’s tons of dashboards in there such as xmbc (my default dash), unleashx (from where startup xmugen), and evox… PLUS a whole lotta programs…
Hope that’s enough specifics…

btw,Long before this i’d get this “panel panic: Attempted to kill init!” error; which apparently had to do with some error in succesfully creating a swapfile…, but i guess i got that sorted out…

Well then, cheerios folks…

I have a doubt, i downloaded tendo gai, duolon and other chars but I cant play them, the screen goes black and says the character needs to be updated. what should I do? could someone explain to me…in details if posible???

thanks

The best releases are by PoTS, who does the CVS2 releases for many characters, and they retain CC activation plus S-Groove style charge. Plus all the moves that the characters have ever had from previous games as well, plus more. You guys probably all know this by now though. He just made a Nakaruru.

He puts too much stuff in his chars. Charge + roll + dodge + parry on Morrigan = expect hell.

nevermind guys, i just downloaded 2.1gb(when compressed) xtreme mugen pack which works right outta the box…its got 601 characters plus over a 100 stages…
unrar, ftp to F:\Games, make your swapfile and presto…I didnt do a damn thing…
NOW, as for adding characters … my select.def file appears very different from that included in faqs…heres what it says :
"[Characters]
;How to add characters
;---------------------
;Use the format:
; charname, stagefilename
;
;eg. For a player with filename “kfm”,
; and stage filename “stages/mybg.def”
;type (without the semicolon):
; kfm, stages/mybg.def
;
;If you want to load a different def file, you can enter it
;as a directory plus the def file. This example loads up
;chars/kfm/alt-kfm.def:
; kfm/alt-kfm.def, stages/mybg.def
;
;If you put “random” as the stagefilename, then a random stage will
;be selected for that player. eg.
; kfm, random
;
;Zipped characters are also supported (experimental).
;Place the ZIP file in the chars/ directory. The name of the
;character’s .def must match the name of the .zip. For example, if
;you have suave.def, then the zip file should be named suave.zip:
; suave.zip, stages/mybg.def
;
;Optional parameters may follow on the same line, separated
;by commas. Each parameter has the form:
; paramname = paramvalue
;where paramname is the name of the parameter type, and
;paramvalue is the value to assign that parameter.
;The optional parameters are:
;
; - music
; Set the paramvalue to the name of the music file to use
; as the BGM for that character. This overrides the bgmusic
; parameter in the stage’s .def file, so you can re-use the
; same stage for multiple characters, but have a different
; BGM playing for each person.
;
; - includestage
; Set the paramvalue to 0 to avoid including this stage
; in the stage select list (in VS, training modes, etc)
;
; - order
; Set the paramvalue to the ordering priority to give the
; character. Valid values are from 1 to 10. A smaller value
; means you will fight the character sooner. You will never
; fight an order 2 character before an order 1 character,
; and never an order 3 character before an order 2 one.
; For example, you might want to set your boss character
; to have order=3. The default order value is 1 if you omit
; this param. See *.maxmatches under [Options] for how to
; limit the number of matches per order priority.
;
; Some examples:
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, includestage=0
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, music=sound/song.mp3
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, music=sound/song.mp3, includestage=0
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, order=3
;
;You can also add a randomize icon to the select screen. To do
;this, put the word “randomselect” on a line of its own, with no
;extra parameters.
;
;Insert your characters below.

shingouki, stages/bmt_sf3_gouki.def, order=1

;-----------------------
[ExtraStages]
;Put extra stages here. They will be available in VS and Watch modes.
;For example, you can insert “stages/mybg.def”.

stages/bmt_sf3_gouki.def;---------------------------------------------------------------------
[Options]
;Here you set the maximum number of matches to fight before game ends
;in Arcade Mode. The first number is the number of matches against
;characters with order=1, followed by order=2 and order=3 respectively.
;For example, for 4,3,1 you will fight up to 4 randomly-picked
;characters who have order=1, followed by 3 with order=2 and 1 with
;order=3.
arcade.maxmatches = 6,1,1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0

;Maximum number of matches to fight before game ends in Team Mode.
;Like arcade.maxmatches, but applies to Team Battle.
team.maxmatches = 4,1,1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0 "

Now with that being pointed out, i can’t really add characters…what should i do?

Hey, do any of you guys know what: assert failure charsel.c line 3162 mean?

Basically the palette defaults for one or more of your characters is messed up. Open your mugen.cfg file in notepad, and set AI.RandomColor to 0

Ummm…how can I say this? There isn’t a mugen.cfg file. AT ALL. I looked for a file named mugen.cfg and its not there.

This happens with Webster(digimonemperor’s CVS)
