If you really want to make a full game and credit yourself for it, Let it be something YOU did from scratch or sprites you ripped yourself and everything programmed yourself.
A 600mb full game for download made with the mugen engine created in less than a weeks time is very hard to believe you pulled off alone with your own material.

I been sayin this for a while. Anyone can customize their own game. It takes maybe 2-3 hours to set one up with a 100 or so characters. There’s only a few characters that aren’t available online, but can be requested. Not every creator is the same but most don’t want their stuff hosted by others, but that doesn’t make them “assholes” like you say. Plus I disagree with your idea of not even bothering to give people credit- because they don’t deserve it or to say fuck them or whatever.
Besides there’s other engines like mugen like KOF91 or Beats of Rage. The work that mugen creators do is just fan art. You can never fully recreate a character or stage completely accurate to the game- never. Its been stated before somewhere, wish I could find the thread. But a while back somebody emailed capcom, and asked about mugen or what they though of the engine. Capcom the reply roughly said that it considers it fan art because its not the same. This was like 2 or 3 years ago on guild I believe.
The same way people make wallpers or arcade sticks with characters from Capcom, Sammy or SNK falls under the same branch as fan art. It is all copyrighted material but you don’t see companies like SNK or Capcom going after people who make wallpapers or sell arcade sticks with their characters on them or even have copyrighted sprites on their site, because its considered fan art.
