Well again, this is a fighting game discussion thread…so I think I’m in the right spot. If there was a mugen only thread, forum, or whatever…I think I would have been smart enough to post this there.
And I thank whoever slapped Mugen at the beginning of this thread’s title, I totally forgot to do that. If u don’t favor the mugen system by all means post somewhere else. If u don’t like my work (and by work: again, I mean how I put everything that I found together)…THEN DON’T FUCKING PLAY IT AND/OR POST IN HERE!
All right, I’ll be damned if this thread is closed because of us arguing. So I’m going to ask very nicely: If u don’t favor mugen or like my creation, please be nice about it and don’t spam. I mean there is a little something called respect, and I want that upheld in the most highest regards.
I’m aware of how you meant it, but basing the fact that the images are not copywriter to them and using them to create their own fan version of them (wither it be true to their actual in game counterpart of not) The people are pissed their code is stolen, not the images their character uses. I can see where they are coming from… if i put 20 hours into coding something i don’t want people passing it off as their time put into making it… when all they did was download it and stick it in their game or put the code into other characters to do the same action (ex: fireball code, fatality code ETC)
Downloading content online and slapping it together is damn hard work people! We should respect this man for all the labor he has put into this! >:(

But what you made isn’t a fighting game. For example, will every character feature curse anims in regards to the presence of Anakaris? Or the fact Urien’s size gives him a rather unfair advantage just due to his sprites?

Really this isn’t a mugen forum. People don’t care if you spent months finding other people’s work to just slap together. They want good, solid games. You’re not delivering that.
I NEVER SAID I CREATED ANYTHING FROM SCRATCH!! AND THAT ALL I DID WAS PUT ALL THE BEST CREATIONS THAT I FOUND, TOGETHER, FOR THIS GAME.
ANYONE IN LIFE CAN DO THIS, AND LIKE KEITS SAID, THAT’S WHAT THIS IS INTENDED FOR, OR WHY WOULD U PUT IT OUT FOR THE PUBLIC TO DOWNLOAD AND THEN GET MAD…IT’S FUCKING STUPID!!!
Actually, mugen isn’t open source. If you check the documentation with the thing, you’re actually allowed to sell what you make with it. And nothing requires it to be open source.
(Of course what happens between you and any companies you piss off selling something commercial is another matter >.>)
Webster even said most of his ‘work’ was trying to balance it. I guess some people only exist on the internet to make others feel bad? Don’t worry about it Webster, as long as you enjoyed putting it together, thats what matters.
i just understand where they are coming from… i like to argue points from both sides.
i understand you think it’s stupid that they are coding for an open source program… but some people actually copywrite their particular code (i dunno why they do) and i just sympathise with people who put alot of time and effort into things just to have it taken and used by other people with zero credit whatsoever.
i mean… i dont think there would be a problem if the people gave due credit for everything they used and gave links to the creators sites etc, but fact of the matter is most people just blatantly steal it and don’t give a shit about other people’s work.
it’s similar to you writing something and then someone taking what you said kinda like plagarising it and attempts to take credit for the ideas or words you said or wrote.
I didn’t create a single thing. Everything in this game was that of which I spent the time and effort to find (I am black so I guess therefore a monkey…LMAO) and combine to make a great game in my image. That’s it, that’s all!

When you put your character on the internet, his ‘code’ is in a text file. This text file uses a fairly easy to follow scripting language. Anyone who downloads your creation can edit it this way. This makes it open source.
If you modified Mugen to read an encrypted code file, and compiled your characters in such a way that they could not be modified, they would not be open source.

Well I’m not selling anything, so I have nothing to worry about. I’m not gaining a profit and I’m sure as hell not taking credit for any of the creations used.
But what I am doing, is inviting people to download a fun game and enjoy it, and if that is wrong…then sue me…LMAO!!!
I think you mean an open format. Just because something can be opened up and viewed doesn’t make it open source though. It’s up to the individual behind a work to make something open source or not, not internet mentality.
It’s kinda like how you can take apart your blender, but can’t steal the thing’s design and market it as your own.

Well soon, the game is going to be released…whenever I figure out how to put it online for everyone to download easily!!! If anyone has any suggestions please pm me and remember it’s about 4 gigs!!!
digimonemporer, don’t pay the haters any attention, it’s a waste of time and they don’t have a CLUE what they’re talking about after you SPECIFICALLY explained the subject in the beginning of your post. I would LOVE to play your version of CVS2. Just PLEASE tell me that you added the following characters:
Rainbow Mika
Tessa/Tabasa
Ralf
Clark
Rick Strowd
If not, then can you PLEASE add them and work on them? I would play the HELL outta your game if you added them.
This took me less than 2 minutes to find using the search function.
I see why Kaneda likes to close MUGEN threads now because they degenerate into pointless bickering EVERY single time, so it’s better to keep it all in one thread. I don’t want to be biased because I let the other MUGEN thread that was posted 2 days ago rock. So yeah…tell me why I shouldn’t close this one now, all I see is arguing.
EDIT: Instead of being a ass, I can move the posts over instead of closing the thread, but if it gets out of hand…

When this is released and people don’t like the game I will close the thread myself. But I don’t see that happening.
And yes I was familiar about thread but that was in regards to mugen as a whole and not completed games. But that’s just my opinion.
I respect whatever it is u chose to do.
But as creator of this thread, I ask everyone: TO PLEASE STOP ARGUING!!! This is my second attempt in saying this!!!
