Moving to Emeryville at the start of June

Hey hey, haven’t posted here since Evo’05 seeing how I live in a little slice of heaven called Humboldt County where the only arcade functions primarily as a haven for a handful of kids-with-mothers, and a few DDRers. Hard for me to find much to say or contribute when everyone I know doesnt play, and those Ive met live hundreds of miles away.

But thats about to change come June. Finally got my shit together and found a few friends willing to relocate and room with me in the bay area to make that rent and day to day living just a little easier. Needless to say, Ive been out of the loop for quite a while. What Id like to know is what arcades are populated in my soon-to-be new region. Last I heard, the Bearcade shut down, and the only two arcades I remember from my various road trips are the SVGL and the MGL. Has anything else sprung up within an hour or so of east bay that should be brought to my attention?

All in all, I have a lot of lost time to make up for. Making this move is something I have put off for far too long, so any news, any advice, anything to make my transition to being a gamer in the bay area easier, feel free to enlighten me.

First question: what games do you play?

My interests have always been in 3S, CvS2, MvC2, and T5. Though my experience with any of them, save MvC2, has been brief at best.

The only game that was big up here when it first came out was MvC2 and TTT; T5 became available after most of the crowds have dispursed due to a dwindling competition base; and we’ve never even seen a 3S or CvS2 cabinet. Hell, the first time I found out either of them existed was when I left town and traveled somewhere civilized.

if you check the East Bay/Berkeley in-house action thread, you can talk to Seth and play at his house. He’s a cool-ass dude with 3S, ST and A3 jap-sitdown cabinets. We usually play on the weekends.
