Moving from SF4 to 3s

hey guys,
so I’ve been constantly playing SF4 and tried to play 3rd strike on 2df, and for some reason it’s like super hard to get supers out. I use a TE and I can pull out supers in sf4 with my eyes closed (these are the 2x qcf ones) but when i play with an emu i gotta like do the motion 5x as slow to get it out. Is it because SF4 is really THAT much forgiving on qcf motions or something? Or is it my “refresh rate” for my usb? Because I know it shouldn’t be this hard to get out supers in 3rd strike. Thanks.

also, is there a way to show my inputs? thanks

Its because SF4s input system is hell of loose and 3rd strike requires more precision. Get FBA Shuffle and the cheat file and load up Third Strike, turn on the cheats for infinite time, and infinite player 2 physical. Then practice all day till you get it.

may ask what is the meaning of “TIER” ??

emulators feel really wonky. it’s not just the difference in games.

Idk, I have 3s on emulator and DC. When I do training mode stuff on DC it kinda messes me up when I play at the arcade, but if I spend a long amount of time on emulator I’m fine on arcade.

As long as your computer runs it flawlessly and you don’t have lag issues with your stick it’s a good way to practice I’d say.

Tiers are like the character rankings from highest to lowest, here is the current tier list for 3s

Sean
alex
Chun
ryu
blanka

the rest are gutter trash

never played DC. I guess the moral of the story is, there’s no substitute for arcade

Nope, no substitute at all. Especially when there’s a crowd building

Bodler do you play Alex?

If it wasnt for sean, I would either main alex…or not take the game seriously, or main alex and take the game half heartedtly

bla bla bla
Im better than you

bodler is one of the 5TREET PWN4GE F1GHTERS so he uses Sean.

one time i played bodler on 2df and he told me to use the basketball more

what a dick

You need to stop playing on 2df or GGPO if you want to learn 3s. Or play it offline is what I really mean. Playing online gets you nowhere and really means nothing because of the delay. If you want to perfect the execution there is nothing as good as the arcade. PS2 is close but it’s not the same as arcade.

SF4 really is that forgiving with specials and supers. I find that timing with Ultras are just as strict as 3s supers, though. But it’s usually not that big of a problem in SF4 because only a few characters can combo supers ground to ground in SF4. When you juggle, you normally have a lot of time and preparation in getting that ultra out.

SF3 training mode doesn’t have a key disaply like CVS2 or SF4 does. maybe a 3rd part program will help display inputs?

When I play on emulators, it feels like the input is off a bit. Not to mention the lag on my LCD. I tried it on several PCs.

3s super are really forgiving as is, or at least compared to the alpha series on emulators.

Good point regarding the lag on the LCD. I was thinking software and never occured that the guy’s problem could potentially be hardware. But I don’t think LCD lag is so bad that it could cause you to execute a super 5 times imo

I’ve never once experienced any execution issues on emulator playing on an LCD screen.

I really don’t think it’s as bad of a gap as some of you guys seem to make it out to be.

Yeah that’s what I said. I completely agree. I think it’s a problem with his execution in general.

The only possible reason I can see towards an input lag problem is that your computer isn’t recieving information from your stick perfectly. I didn’t have a problem with this but I think someone on srk made a post about it and someone said something about increasing the rate that your usb device sends info to your computer.

Something like that.

the controls in 3s are much much tighter.
practice HP xx SA2 with makoto. once you can do that consistently, you will never have any more problems with QCFx2.

I have no problems with the supers on 3S but it is true that the inputs on SF4 are way more lenient than 3S
