Sophie was infinitely more compelling than Theronator-1989.
But she practically screamed disposable newbworks, so I couldn’t really find a reason to get attached to her.
The graphic novel Atomic Blonde is based on is hella good. I recommend it.
Also the best part of Atomic Blonde was clearly John Goodman.
I loved Atomic Blonde…McAvoy, Goodman, and Theron were the highlights.
Hyped for a sequel/prequel.

Getting back to the topic of M. Night Shyamalan’s filmography, I think his only genuinely good film is ‘The Sixth Sense’. However, the plot twist at the end just makes it impossible to enjoy ever again. Strangely, 2006’s ‘Lady in the Water’ and 2008’s ‘The Happening’ are infinitely enjoyable and entertaining (especially in other languages) despite having major flaws.
Huh, that’s weird. Because the plot twist at the end made me want to immediately re-watch it.

The thing is that the whole movie is about Malcolm’s (Bruce Willis’s) character development and redemption to me and the plot twist makes it pointless in the grand scheme of things. I really don’t care about the kid and feel like he is young enough to deal with his problem or learn to ignore it/get medicated (given the similarity of his condition to schizophrenia as far as medical diagnosis is concerned) on his own.

I would have to agree. However after twice it isn’t really a thing unless you are waiting for someone’s reaction. . . . kinda like The Usual Suspects.

Not all plot twists have the same weight with respect to the plot. I could easily rewatch ‘The Usual Suspects’ and ‘Fight Club’ as the journeys the characters undertake are entertainingly meaningful and the the plot twists just place an exclamation point on them.
The Usual Suspects sucked balls. It made no sense and was a load of pretentious wank. It has that effect commonly seen in Nolan movies where it insists on its own importance, so people are tricked into thinking it means something other than “look at me.” The unreliable narrator thing was done with a lot more grace in other, better movies, such as American Psycho.

‘The Usual Suspects’ is certainly flawed as is ‘American Psycho’ (as well as being easily comprehensible), but Christopher Nolan has directed two modern masterpieces. There is nothing in any other director’s filmography like 2000’s ‘Memento’ or 2006’s ‘The Prestige’ and if the world gets lucky he will direct another masterpiece before his career ends or creates a definitive cut of 2014’s ‘Interstellar’ that makes sense.

I also really enjoyed ‘Donnie Brasco’. The scene in the oriental restaurant where he refused to take his shoes off, forget about it!
New M:I films coming in 2021 and 2022, and McQuarrie will be filming the two back-to-back, sometime this year.
