Mount a JLF Stick with No Plate

Hi Everyone,

I’m looking to put a JLF stick in a very small wood enclosure. Could I mount the body of the stick directly to the wood with bolts? I think 4 bolts, one in each corner of the body would work well, but would there be any performance issues?

Thanks!

I mounted that on plastic when I modded my Dreamcast Agetec sticks. Works fine for me and wood > plastic, so why not?

Looks similar to my old Dreamcast Agetec stick mod

You can also keep the wings and mount with only two bolts.
Or those 4 smaller holes that looks like they take bolts.

Thank you for the feedback!

I’m curious to learn: Why do people use mounting plates at all? Why not just mount directly to your case?

Thanks!

Probably many reasons:

  • Easier to get mounted at the correct height
  • Identical bolting patterns can accommodate multiple different joystick levers
  • Depending on how you mount the joystick directly to the case, if you ever want to take it off, you might have to disassemble the joystick; it’s usually not the case with a mounting plate
  • Top-mounting a joystick is only possible with a mounting-plate.
    and there’s probably more reasons…
