You people shocked about Gundam vs. Gundam make me lol. Gundam vs games are disgustingly popular. Even the shittest arcade I went to in Japan had Federation vs. Zeon. I could take a huge dump in the middle of a-cho, put antennae and a red chin on it and people would line up to touch it.
Based on the fact that it plays like a fat, sluggish, not-fun Virtual ON, I assumed japanese folks would have sense enough not to play it after a couple tries.
Then again they play Melty Blood, so meh.

It’s funny you mention a-cho. I stayed at a place in December that was literally a 10 minute walk from a-cho, and there was a shitty arcade that was like, 2 minutes away from a-cho filled with Omni vs Zaft machines, and the place had lots of people. a-cho was right there, with perfect machines, but those games really bring in the money.

They don’t play Marvel because they don’t like the game. I know it’s a hard concept to grasp, but please try to understand. Besides, Hokuto no Ken is their MvC2.
I’ve only seen videos, and from what I’ve seen it just looks like more of the same (i.e. pretty boring). Even if I wanted to play AH2, the chances of that happening are like winning the lotto; only EC has any interest in playing that game. 
Except it’s not more of the same. The game itself is totally different from AH1.
If this is true I’m intrigued.
I need to see more AH2 footage. I have AH1 but the game seemed really boring to me so I dropped it. I’m still interested in AH2 mainly because of Petra. Heard bad things about Kamui though…the fuck.

If you say so. Like I said, I’m only basing judgment on videos I’ve seen, which really didn’t look that much different from AH1. Also, I heard Lieselotte is hands down the worst character in the game now, thus killing any remaining interest I ever had in playing the game.
Liese is low for now. This was the same situation with AH1 until people discovered stuff with her just in time for SBO. She has overhead mixups and whatnot, but she’s still a work in progress. The game is only about 3 months old.
The concept of rushing down for the long combo is done. You have to earn your hits this time around. There are characters in the game that alter the way you play most matches. All I can say is just keep up with the vids because things will change in time. If the game was more of the same, I doubt we would be playing it here in NYC.

This is one of those fanboy myths that turns out to be off-base. Japan really isn’t “smarter” about games than we are or anything; their media just tells them to buy Final Fantasy & Dynasty Warriors instead of Madden & Halo. And people like to bring up how arcades are still alive there, but that’s due more to convenient locations than anything else, and the industry has been declining as of late.

now that your subculture lesson is over, let’s dissect the chart
1- Tekken is hot and it will be until the general populace finds it boring to watch/dumb to play. There will always be an idiot on a tekken machine in japan. safe bet.
2- VF5 is where VF usually is between revisions. Once the next rev comes out expect it to spike again, then fall off. It’s done that since VF4, and it’s not gonna change. The only time VF overtakes Tekken is if Namco fucks up(VF4-FT vs T4-5.1).
3- For what it’s worth, AH2 is worth playing simply because it is a lot different from a lot of the other shit out there. It’s arguably the best 2d fighter out ATM, even if people don’t agree with the roster.
4- I have no idea why 3S is still up there. I guess the hotspots for it still generate enough revenue to keep them up there. From my experience tho, there’s more 3S boards around than ST/AE boards, so whatever.
5-MARVEL IS NOT THERE BECAUSE THE JPN VERSION IS RETARDED TO MAINTAIN, THEY’RE NOT GONNA IMPORT THE US BOARDS, AND THE COMMUNITY FOR IT IS ALMOST NONEXISTANT. SO STFU MARVEL HEADS, BE GLAD YOU GUYS CAN STILL PLAY IT HERE.
