Mortal Kombats, someone?

Non-Competetive Fighter, but still the manliest fighter ever, mind you. Besides, I saw no threads of this game, but yet I saw a thread dedicated to the imitation of it [Killer Instinct].

Discuss.

I despise it :stuck_out_tongue: Sorry. It turned me off to fighting games as a youth for probably 6 or so years. I did enjoy using Jade though for some reason. Raiden also was kinda cool.

Maybe I was mad that I could never do the fancy fatalities and that the Shao Khan knee of death almost ALWAYS got me :razzy:

Discus’ed

lolno.

I’ve been playing Mortal Kombat from when it first came out on the Sega Genesis up until the latest, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon on the PS2. Nobody wanted to play me in that game anymore because I was too sick and I could do the infinites, LOL. I didn’t like Armageddon that much anyway. I was highly disappointed because the game was just crappily downgraded. The only two good things I liked about Armageddon was that the loading screens were really quick and the game contained a lot of characters; it was sort of like an MvC2 mega-roster. I didn’t really care much for the custom character feature or the custom fatalities (I’ve always assumed that they implemented it because they couldn’t fit multiple fatalities for the entire roster which would make sense).

In Armageddon, I remember people online usually customized their characters with all the top-tier attacks like Kung-Lao’s Broad Sword launcher (or pop-up as they called it) since it was the fastest launcher in the game. I forgot what other moves were good. Reminds me of Smackdown vs. Raw online (I forgot which one) where everyone online used custom characters with all the same cheap moves like Spike Dudley’s Headbutt (the most fastest basic attack in the game and stuns the opponent for an easy set-up and / or finisher, and it’s also fuckin’ broken because of it’s ridiculous range) and Triple H and / or Shawn Michael’s finisher (the Pedigree and the Sweet Chin Music) because they 'cause the most damage and it hurts your face which is very useful because your face usually and easily takes more damage than any other body part. I digress but you know what I mean. You just gotta be cheap to win. Magneto.

I used to play Deception online. That was the best 3D Mortal Kombat title in my opinion. I was assuming Armageddon was going to be just like Deception except with a lot more characters but that wasn’t the case. My favorite 2D Mortal Kombat is Mortal Kombat Trilogy just 'cause it has like every character. I was never amazing at the 2D ones though. I haven’t played any Mortal Kombat game in the longest time though and I don’t feel like going back to playing 'em ever again because it’ll be so weird for me since I play all these other fighting games that aren’t similar to Mortal Kombat at all, lol. If you’ve been playing any Street Fighter, King of Fighters, the Versus games (XvSF, MvC, TvC, etc.), Donjon fighters (ex: Vanguard Princess), Arcana Hearts, the Guilty Gear series, Battle Fantasia, Melty Blood or any fighting games like that for a long period of time and then you go back to trying out any of the 2D Mortal Kombat games again, that shit feels mad weird and you feel like you shouldn’t even be touching it, lol.

Mortal Kombat was a great series though. It was part of my childhood and I’ll never forget it. I mean all my friends, cousins and even uncles played it back then. I used to see Mortal Kombat cabinets at the arcades and sometimes laundromats and I would always ask my mom or dad for quarters because it was the only game I liked to play. I’m not gonna lie, Mortal Kombat was the shit back then but now…nobody gives a fuck about it anymore, lol.

To be fair, it was Trilogy on the N64 that I played. People have told me it’s the worst MK ever made?

Actually, that would be Mortal Kombat Advance.

Bring back Deception imo … dc v mk was awful!

Oh no, there’s worse.

There’s still somewhat of an MK scene around, mostly centered on UMK3 and MKvsDC. We actually held like a 20 man MKDC tournament in LA a few months back. We usually post at www.MortalKombatEmpires.com
