Long-time friend of TRMK, Trash, sends along word that game retailer GameStop will feature the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat (2011) at the GameStop Manager’s Conference 2010 at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, August 28th - September 2nd.

As you can see, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be pulling out all the stops with building custom arcade-style cabinets for demoing the game at the meeting. The mockup images of the cabinets feature the well-known classic Midway design, a MadCatz tournament arcade stick and a large LCD screen attached above the cabinet for crowd viewing.

I think this is cool, but has some thoughts.

How would they enforce the arcade “X” layout if there is no arcade version?

To me, how I am going to play it (on a 6 button controller layout) is I will use LK for block, then the right 4 buttons for the attack buttons. LP wouldn’t be used here.

I wonder what the default layout will be if they do an official arcade stick. Because on a controller, the 4 face buttons would be attacks and block would be any of the shoulder buttons.
