mk 1 aqnd 2 are fun umk and trilogy are great mk4 also all the other straight to console 3d ones are trash except dc vs mk
Im getting the hang of getting used to a block and run button.
I believe chip damage is very important.
Are there are strings with ermac that i can learn?
what is the most effect ground combo to learn??
With Ermac all i learned last night was is Hk,Lp, jk, Teleport Punch, TKS, ,HP,HP, and fireball at the end
but im having hard time with ground combos.
Try ultimatemk.com for that sort of thing. They tend to be more fond of Ermac than most of the cast, so you’ll find a lot of info on him there.
Yeah, I wasn’t going to take it competitively anyway, partly due to there’s so many other games I practice at, and partly because I have no intention of owning it. It seems like it would be good for casuals though
I would play Scorpion…maybe Deathstroke.
Like I said, it’s fun as fuck if you don’t take it seriously, just like Smash Bros. Brawl or Soulcalibur III.
DOA4, MvC2, Monopoly…
Competitive Monopoly, eh?
The shoe’s top tier!
As for MK, the 2D ones aren’t that great, but they are still a lot of fun. (MK2 and UMK3 that is). When MK4 first came out, it was a dissapointment. It barely brought anything new to the table. Looking back though, MK4 was the best MK 3D game compared to the horrible trio (Deadly Alliance, Deception and ARmageddon). That is, until MK vs DC came out.
Now whether it can be called the best MK game to date really depends on how commited the developers are at fixing MK vs DC, but as it stands, it’s better than all the 3D MK games, but it has a long way to go.
I would rather play a game which is Fun as Fuck when I am not taking things seriously AND Fun as Fuck when I am taking it seriously. A well designed game should be both.
I thought…the car was top tier…? :wasted:
Anyway, went back to read the old MK vs DC thread, and I was astonished at the fact various players displayed the numerous bugs, glitches and infinites in the game to the developers and they flat out choose to ignore it. Now, that’s a shame, but i guess it rings true that the developers only meant for it to be a fun title, rather than for tourney use.
Like I said, good for casuals
MKII, UMK3 & Trilogy that’s about it DC vs Mortal Kombat is the worst fucking game for combos ever I’am true Kombatin and that shit in not it at all and what the fuck is a PRO MOVE bull shit Superman punches the ground and you can get up. It’s should be named Subzero vs Scorpion. Lets just call it what it is any Street Fighter (Capcpm) game is just the best even Sega Satarn SF EX Plus Alpha best 3D Street Fighter ever
^Can you say “run-on sentence”?
Can anyone even understand those two “sentences?”
MKII <- Top Tier
in that case, UMK3 <- God Tier
The only easy infinites are in the bad MK’s. There are only two good MK’s, MK2 and UMK3. Any MK game other than these two are just to played for fun.
Only scrubs and casual players care about fatalities. Kinda like alt colors or costumes in SF.
It really gets annoying reading peoples ignorance. Saying “remake trilogy just make it more balanced”, as if the game would be great if balanced. Trilogy wasnt just unbalanced, it was broken as hell along woth other issues.
Most of you haven’t played UMK3 for more than 200 games, and that’s giving you some slack. MK games in general play so much differently than SF, people are turned off by it. And as I said, MK is only MK2 and UMK3… or just UMK3.
The 2D MK’s are the best MK’s, 3D MK games are terrible. And yes, they are “that great”. If UMK3 wasn’t associated with “MK” and it had a patch update, it would EASILY be a main title at EVO. SF3 wasn’t perfect at first, Ed Boon is just a fucking retard so instead of making an updated version of UMK3… he makes MKT. :shake: And I realize UMK3 was updated from MK3, UMK3 doesn’t need alot of work if any. Just minor glitches and some tweaks. Not a new game, just another revision.
A lot of negativity in this thread, which makes me sad. Growing up as a big fan of arcades, Street Fighter 2 got me into the scene but Mortal Kombat 2 kept me in the scene. I thought it was a great, competitive fighter when it came out. Sure, some people only cared about Fatalities and the like but in competitive play, all that mattered was winning.
MK2 was the only one that I liked. Once they added dial-a-combos I lost some interest. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was not bad but I still preferred MK2. Then they went 3-D and it just all fell apart.
If it wasn’t for MK2, I probably would have stopped playing games altogether, honestly.
MK does not suck. Most of it’s development cycle does.
The best games in the franchise were, without a doubt, MKII and Deadly Alliance. MKII was both fresh, technical and very distinctive per character (we all know what that means - some chars had stronger uppercuts, some stronger roundhouses, some ranged sweeps, etc), and Deadly Alliance was the first true 3D addition to the series (one of the best fatalities I’ve seen in an MK to date, and very tweaked gameplay-wise - no wonder, it had a 5 year development period). MK:D, and Armageddon were all but recycles of the engine and characters in Deadly Alliance. Most of the other games were recycled stuff, due to the fact that Midway pushed Boon and co. to release a new MK every year, making it somewhat of a redundant series, like EA’s sports franchises.
Even though it cannot achieve true Street Fighter flare, I remember playing the hell out of the MKII machine when it first came out - and I mean that at a competitive level, leaving fatalities and all those easter eggs aside, while the Hyper Fighting machine next to it was quickly losing popularity.
So, Mortal Kombat produced good games, but the percentage of good games against the bad ones in the franchise is really overwhelming.
Okay, duncan, your post is so full of shit that I don’t even know where to begin. I think I’ll just make it easy on myself by just saying “you’re about as far from right as you could possibly be.”
Not surprised, that’s exactly what I expected. Hater reply, no argumets included.
I don’t really need to defend my point considering that you talked about how good Deadly Alliance was.
