Morrigan/Psylocke/Magneto...comments?

I’ve been trying them out lately, and I know that Magneto benefits from having an AA like Morrigan’s…

However, obviously, Psylocke would be needed to give Mag his upper hand since Mag can’t do too much with Morrigan’s assist…

A couple of strats:

I like to start off with Morrigan simply because if she dies, then Psy and Mag will be left together. Not only that, but Morrigan works well with Psylocke…

DHC (Requires 4 bars): I like to do c.lp (2-hit), c.lk, call Psy, then DI in the air (It has to be relatively quick since Psy-blade hits them quickly), then DHC to Psy’s Kacho Gakure (Butterfly super), then, should they not roll, then OTG with c.lk and launcher, then j.lp, j.lk, j.mp, j.mk , double-jump, j.lp, j.lk, j.mp, j.mk, Psy-blade, Butterfly super (let it hit about 15 hits), then DHC again into Magnetic Tempest. Good damage if pulled off, and even if you can’t OTG them after the first KG, then you can wait with Psylock until you get the opportunity to do the air combo…

Well, this is just a minor few things that I discovered…

Any comments are appreciated. I do want to develop this trio to where I can play with them semi-competitively. I like their potential. Their only drawback is that it will be somewhat dependant on Psy’s assist…

sounds like a fun team… just a quick q on that combo- wats the damage like? it sounds like it would b scaled down a lot… but it sounds like it looks pretty cool

also, is morrigans assist invincible?

hmm… im not sure i have anything particularly good to contribute… i really think ur team is intersting, although honestly i have trouble seeing how magneto really fits… i understand the whole mag/psy relationship, but i feel like u could mayb have another character who could b more beneficial to the team in general… mayb storm? i dunno, her proj. assist might b handy for ground combos, and hailstorm is always nice… plus for pretty combos u can air combo into lighting storm then dhc to butterflies

sry i wasnt of much help, but ill prob think o somethin else later…

Storm would work, too. In fact, Morrigan/Storm/Psylocke is astrong team to use IMO, one of my favorites to play.

I just wanted to substitute Magneto in for kicks…

The combo does a little more than half life on a full-bar character. I’ll have to do it more to get an actual figure for you…

Morrigan’s assist, from my own experience, may trade hits at worst. The only way that she can be taken out of it is through (obviously) a super. That’s the best I can say on that…

Regarding her assist: It has either no or very little invinisibility, it’s just very high priority, like psylocke’s AA.

I did some testing counter-calling Morrigan’s assist against various AAAs a few months ago. As I remember, it’s got slightly better priority than psylocke AA. It loses to cyclops, the shotos, cammy, jin, loses or trades with capcom (usually… capcom’s pretty random. Sometimes they just go through each other…), but it beats psylocke, doom, tron, charlie, guile, IM, WM, cable… Also beats most supers if called point blank before the flash.

Those teams look like fun (rushing like crazy!), though the Mag team may not be as effective as the one with Storm. I think the Mag team would be better played as Mag/Morrigan/Psy, so at least one of them will have a good frame-kill DHC to work with (tempest–>soul eraser). The Storm team should probably be played with Morrigan starting, for the silhouette blade–>hailstorm DHC.

Morrigan does pretty well with Storm’s projectile assist-- it helps keep them in blockstun so she can rush, and it can allow her to combo into darkness illusion or soul eraser pretty easily. You can also throw them onto storm’s assist with Morrigan’s HP throw, then launch or whatever.

All in all I don’t see Morrigan working as well with Mag/psy though-- his assists don’t help her as much as Sent’s, Storm’s, Tron’s, or most popular AAA’s and psy assist doesn’t benefit Morrigan nearly as much as it does Magneto (she needs something to keep them grounded, or to keep AA’s out of her hair, neither of which psy is very good at), and Morrigan’s assist definitely doesn’t help Mag’s as much as Psylocke’s, since Morrigan’s AA doesn’t really set up anything besides an iffy ROM opportunity. She can’t really take advantage of her frame kill abilities with Mag as a DHC, and while he can frame kill into her soul eraser pretty effectively, it’s not as usefull as, say, a hailstorm or proton cannon would be.

If you’re dead set on using Morrigan and Mag together, though, you might want to try using Sent-ground or Tron-projectile instead of psy as your main assist. This way both Morrigan and Mag will have an assist they work very well with, and if you use Sent the team will be effective no matter who’s on point. And while silhouette blade–>HSF may not be the best frame-kill DHC in the world, it’s at least decent at getting Morrigan out of a jam (better than psy would be IMO).

Hmm…

Never even thought of Sentinel, but that does make sense.

Yeah, it would help Morrigan to get out safely with Sent’s HSF. Okay, so I’ll try them out more once I can get to the arcade this weekend…

I do want to keep them together because I really like Morrigan, and I also want to learn Magneto at the same time. With Morrigan’s ability to semi-tri jump like Mag and Storm, she can play at somewhat a similar style to them…

EDIT: I also like to put the order as Morrigan/Magneto/Psylocke because it can give Morrigan a safe DHC out as well…

If you can get a hit with Psylocke as an assist, then do DI, and DHC into Magnetic Shockwave. I prefer that to get Morrigan safely out, and even if it misses, then Magneto isn’t at risk unless the person recovers fast enough.

thanx for answerin my qs… perhaps if u wana stick with morrigan and magz on a team ur third could b…thinks well im tempted to say felicia, but thats cuz i love playin felicia and morrigan together… shes another fast rushdown character who focuses more on ground attacks, and her sand super is nice into the soul eraser… but assist wise that wont really help u much… u could go for a shoto or somethin- ken has a good aa assist, and akuma exp is good for setting up combos… gah, im too tired… laterz
