I said I hit the combo, in tournament matches, meaning I had the mind games to hit the combo. Thought that was assumed by me stressing the fact that I hit them IN TOURNAMENT. Was just saying this in defense of justin’s post, cause you seem to ignore what has been proven time and time again.

There’s a reason the ranks turn out as expected, despite the sticks. JWong only played on american sticks, same with X, and they placed where they were expected to.
I’ve learned the hard way that sticks is no excuse for losing (unless they actually don’t work and you have people switching sides constantly), considering how bad I am on jap sticks compared to american sticks. I was in the same position as you guys were, I have no jap stick to practice on, I ALWAYS play on american sticks when I can.
You can’t simply dismiss the T-tournies all together because of sticks, when you look at the tournament size and level of competition, you can’t say “who cares”. Name me any other canadian tourney that has pulled in players from all ove rthe country and continent…
One more thing… if we’re going to forget T tourneys all together, and only consider MAT… where did you guys place? I’ve come 4th every year, I see no shame in that.

The sticks aren’t an excuse you know it. Why is it players can come from the US and play on jap sticks and place high. For the sake of relevance, look at the results from Marvel at the T tourney over the last three years.

Justin Wong and Desmond Pickney place 1st and 2nd back to back in the two T tournies they showed. As noted by Gerjay, they are fantastic players but as also noted, Bryan was able to go even with Justin in their last ECC encounter on American sticks and Bryan outright dominated Desmond for money on US sticks. The sticks apparently didn’t augment their abilities. Who would have believed it?

Jiggabry (who plays at ORBIT once per month for the tourney) places top 3 all three years. No one is surprised considering he’s considered the best player in Canada.

Gerjay places top 5 all three years and 3rd the year that Empire doesn’t enter. I’ll be frank in saying if Gerjay had placed top 3 at either MAT entered we wouldn’t even be having this discussion and I wouldn’t have to school everyone in how to do their research before posting.

ATM Spidertao has 2 days under his belt on jap sticks and places top 5 because he should. He’s considered the best west coast Canadian player and placed exactly where everyone in Toronto figured he would.

Isaac Graham (who never plays on jap sticks) places top 5 in both T tournies entered.

Samnang places first at T5, despite the fact he did not play on Jap sticks AT ALL prior to that point. This disappointed Toronto but didn’t surprise anyone in the least. Sam was gearing down as what most would consider the best Marvel player on the east coast as Bryan was reaching his zenith locally (you’d see a drastic improvement in Bryan’s game after attending his first ECC, his first EVO and making his trip down to Florida, where Mixup upgraded his Magneto).
You think it’s a coincidence that the players considered best by their peers place EXACTLY where you’d figure they would the last three years at Canada’s biggest tournament? Does it really blow anyone’s mind that Samnang places first at the last major he actually was active in and 9th at a tourney they had to pull him kicking and screaming for? Come on people, get over this stick problem you keep crying about.

No one ever really gives GerJay that much props but hes one of the most consistant players, just cause he finishes behind bry doesn’t mean he isn’t a top player.
