I am not an idiot, There isnt much of anything we can really do about people pirating the game. All we can do is hope that people like the product enough to support more projects in the future.

When did the talk of pirating begin? O.o

Killey’s random question on it. The fighting game genre is one where the fans really do just hurt themselves if they pirate because of all things, Fighting Games have the most replayability of any game. 20 or 50$, you’re going to be playing a good fighter for a long time. Not willing to cash out? No more fighters. It’s a genre where the people making the game are most likely hardcore fans of the genre and if fans don’t care, developers won’t care either.

In a random note, I introduced this game to a non-furry friend of mine and his reaction was…

“Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!”

However, on the other hand, I think there’s still a lot to be said for being able to do more to “try before you buy” (by that, I mean renting). Now-a-days, that’s hard to do, especially since like 70% of all FGs probably don’t leave Japan, or if they do, they’ll take a long time doing so. And money doesn’t exactly grow on trees, ya know.

For all the various import/doujin games I’ve bought over the years, I’ve got a lot of gems, but I also have some games that I wished I could have been able to “rent” before I plopped down the full 50-70 bucks (including S&H) to buy it. And if it’s like that for me, I’m sure there are plenty of others who would echo the same, even amongst FG gamers.

50-70$ is just a stupid standard because you’re taking into account Retail and Publishing first which is a huge chunk. Do you think ShoK and his team wouldn’t be happy with you downloading and donating 20$ via paypal or something (which developers don’t even get that much royalty to be honest) for every person that likes his game and wishes to continue playing it? If you cut out the middleman and everyone just pays 20$ that gets split among him and his team, that’s pretty much as strong a support as any as long as this game doesn’t turn into MB where you will have to pay 40-50$ for a box copy, he’ll make less royalties, but he’ll sell more games.

Anyways, no more piracy talk. Piracy is like one of the dumbest industry topics people count torrent downloads as profit loss when most people who download torrents probably won’t buy the game anyways.

Well, I only asked because I wanted to know if they had some anti-piracy plans on the game disc. A simple yes we’ve got this in place or no we don’t care because piracy is going to happen regardless would have been fine.

Putting that aside, is there any other information about balancing tweaks that have been made or should I just wait until the game comes out.

Well 5 days left and we pretty much know how the game system will be, but we don’t know how the what changes have been made to the characters so how they will play with it is all kind of up in the air.

Regarding balancing though, hopefully the defense options are still in place as the only character we know anything about (Katze) can do 50% off a hit if he has meter will be scary to deal with especially with unblockable wake-ups that are unavoidable if backdashes don’t have invincibility. People will need to learn how to power break if it’s there and that will be for the better anyways. Something to do while you’re blocking yourself to death.

Backdashes have inv so you can escape wake up unblocks. You CAN change the timing ont he unblocks though to catch the backdashes so you gotta be hella careful!

Well now you know.

Anyway, I’m wondering if the team are going to consider the possibility of creating balance patches after the game’s release? That kind of assurance is always a nice thing to have.

It’s always been like that so it should be safe to assume it’ll continue.

How are the unblocks? are them stoppable on the first frames with a well timed short attack? or you can get some use from the point system in there? the idea of the unblocks sounds good.

Unblockables are stoppable and they take a bit of time to go off so you’re not going to hit by it in the middle of a blockstring if you’re paying attention. So far the only use it seems is on wake-up with Katze, but that could change with the other characters.

What about Aleksandr and that new sword user? I think it’s safe to assume that most of their attacks will be unblock able if tradition persists, even the quicker ones.

Excuse my ignorance, but, is Ancient Cline an arcade release, PC release, or both? I was under the impression initially that it would be like Akatsuki BLITZKAMPF, with the new version being an arcade release only, but, the latest posts in this topic seem to indicate the opposite. I’m confuzzled. :shake:
