Orju is sick, I just run activate tranq and do qcb and a over and over till I get three bars and absurd.
You do know Orju can be thrown out of his qcb move right?
And the auto-guard only lasts for the beginning of the attack, not the end.
trail of leaves version sorry. I know how to play him, Im just simplifying whats worked for me.
Can I get a Maya movelist and description please?
here’s a replay of what Im talkin about
any help on what to do?
super laggy, the guy pulled next game…cant blame him
Oh, hehe. Watch out you don’t get powerbreak, the leaves can be hit.
I played him the first day I tried out this game. The problem with him is that he’s always hitting the crouch A button so you can never throw him, but he will do it even if you do not go for a throw. Atleast I think that was him…it’s just the same thing if you try to throw a button masher, it’s not going to work most of the time regardless of how complex your mixups are, because they are just mashing. But usually against better players, when they become aware of mixups, they will be afraid to attack in some places, which will set up throw opportunities.
Not saying Xiii mashes technically, but he just seemed to hit the jab button no matter what you did. You use a throw mixup when you scare them into not attacking using previous mixups…against mashers, that isn’t going to work since they don’t pay attention to what’s going on in the match.
Good games Dandy, good connection too. Im in the midwest too. Hope Ill play you soon again. Ive got a lot to learn, dang you can really utilize that backdash invincibility dude.
Lol, I keep thinkin siely’s uppercut is like a shoryu on wakeup… too bad I keep gettin punished hard =(.
Use hcf+A as a wakeup move if they are on the ground beside you. If it hits, cancel it to super and do some combo stuff…if they are in the air, I wouldn’t attack at all (backdashing is probably the safest).
-EDIT- Oh thanks for the tip, Ill use that now =).
sorry I read your post wrong before, if you read my message before I edited.
Yea, T and F-Katze are much better than M-Katze, who only has damage. The only reason I’m still using him is because I haven’t practiced with the others enough to feel comfortable while Shifted.
What I’m saying is, why would he do anything other than mash A?
After 214a on hit or block, Katze’s 2A is going to beat out anything you do that doesn’t have invulnerability frames. And invulnerable moves are really risky due to the off-chance that Katze might backdash instead, blowing through whatever you do (including throw attempts).
So these better players you speak of, why aren’t they just doing 2A or backdashing out of that alleged mixup?
There is no mix up there.
This is exactly what I’m talking about when I hear people saying block strings are “too good” in this game. No, no they are not.
Well I’m not particularly talking about that mixup, but most throw mindgames scare people into not attacking because if they do a risky fast move (dp) in anticipation, they can get severely punished, and if they jab thinking you will throw when you actually did a meaty, they will get hit. Assuming qcb+A has more frame advantage than you claim, it would be dangerous to attack back.
after the dash you can mash 2a back dash, activate, or throw…thats mixup to me?
Hey everyone. I’m new and all. Just got Monster a few days ago, after my brother got it, so I’m experimenting. Currently I’m falling in love with Orju and Maya right now. Probably go with Tranquility on both of them. I’ll try Netplay tonight and test myself out.
My brother told me to keep my hands off Orju, cause he’s using him, but oh well
I’ll go by Melfice_Cyrum on netplay, my brother goes by Celestial_Okami
But, that “mixup” is how this debate started. I know the concept of throw games, and I’m telling you there isn’t one after Orju’s 214a.
Now, if you want to talk about throw games OUTSIDE of Orju’s 214a, then yeah there’s plenty of good ones. But shoulder checks are not good throw traps against people who know they can just mash A against Orju (or backdash, for that matter).
Orju doesn’t have a “DP”, or any invulnerable move for that matter. His uppercut has no priority or invulnerability. All of his specials and supers get stuffed by 2A after a shoulder check, and his own 2A either trades or loses after a shoulder check depending on the character. Tranq shifted 214a will autoguard, but what good is that going to do after a connected 214a?
This is why I said in the first place that his best option is backdash after a connected shoulder check. :bluu:
Just a random discovery, but by using a special move during Freedom in the air it leaves you in normal jump mode, meaning you can do Storm like run away. Well, when I say Storm like I mean staying in the air. But it’s possible to jump, then do a special, then either jump backward or forwards, where you can do a special again to repeat the process.
Only use for that I can think of is to avoid Absurds or wait out your opponents activated Shift bar.
yeah, you can especially abuse it with siely.
Does anyone have a solid Maya Freedom combo that uses up most (or all) of the bar in one combo?
