A friend of mine recently acquired a pretty sweet Golden Axe cab off craigslist for $35. It was sold as non working as far as the game starting. After looking, I discovered that the secondary PCB wasn’t plugged in to the primary PCB all the way. With that issue fixed, we went to playing, but soon after, the monitor just faded out to black. I tried messing with some wires on the back of the monitor and managed to get the picture to come back momentarily, but it would just fade again. I’m not entirely sure if messing with the wires really did anything though, since it was a bit hard to determine exactly when the picture came back in relation to what I was doing behind the monitor.
My main thought is the ground connection on the neckboard, but we didn’t have a soldering iron handy to try to resolder and see if that took care of it. I’ll probably go back and look at it again soon, just wanted to get input from anyone here who may have dealt with a similar issue.
Also note that the monitor worked fine the whole time we were troubleshooting with it on, leads me to believe there may be some issue with a component after the monitor warms up a bit (the cab was stored in a garage at near-freezing temperature when I looked at it).
