Wolfkrone has gone to practically every major for the entire 2011 circuit, whereas Latif has only really gone to revaLAtions and SBO qualifiers (that’s obviously not on the circuit, but still a big tournament regardless). I don’t disagree that Wolfkrone has performed incredibly well at every major he’s been to, but again, it’s something kind of difficult to compare when Latif hasn’t really traveled.
I’m sure Latif will be at all majors for the evo 2012 circuit, though.
They were both on Top 8. Even though Latif was able to get 2nd, both Vipers are still the best in the US and they have different play styles. Both best vipers thus far.
Wolfkrone was top 3 in every tournament from last year 'til EVO. Latif went in on SBO qualifiers and 2nd at EVO. Wolfkrone is top 8.
When being a top player at a game that is for both Arcade and Console, they have to learn to play both pad and stick in case they want to compete or get invited to play that game that the only option to play it is in the arcade like SBO.
Even Krone believes it’s better in the long run. I talked with him briefly about it after Latif > everybody in SBO quals and the way the convo went, he implied padding it was having an undesired effect on his hands.
Knowing the character we all play, though, it could very well be a Viper thing:
I play Viper on a Dualshock pad, default settings(but I use the d-pad), and I imagine stick’s probably better for her when it comes to things like feints. You can also play in the arcades and with a stick, you won’t be limited by the console format if you don’t have a converter of some kind, which would be my main reason for learning how to use a stick for fighting games. But I’ve been playing fighting games on pad for 14 years, so I’m just lazy.
If you’re comfortable playing a pad however, go for it. Playing Viper on a pad also hasn’t affected my hands AFAIK, haha.
what people didn’t notice was Latif had an easier way into top 8 winners not having to face any Japanese competiton whereas Wolf had to play Fuudo to get into top 8 winners to seal the deal, and would of been afforded the chance to lose once and still be in it. Then he had to beat Mago to make it in. I thought the top EVO Qualifier points winner was supposed to get the easier avenue into top 8 from what I understood. He didn’t even get a chance to get going the way Latif did. Latif is top 3 in the U.S. no question and did amazing taking out the world’s best and can’t take anything away from him, but I think Krone could have done the same had he been afforded 2 losses the way Latif was. They are both great, I just think Wolf has the edge in this one from the things that I’ve seen in tournaments in matchups that they have both played and where Latif would lose to Laugh and Wolf would body Laugh, (@ Revelations). Latif would lose to Starnab and Wolf would body Starnab and took out Infiltration,(@ the G4G booth). Wolf understands matchups except for Yun since we didn’t have AE here in Michigan. Incredibly close, Krone has it by a sliver I think.
IMO, I’m the better viper. I attack, defend, use specials and generally look at the screen when I’m playing. Sometimes I’m on the 1p side but when the time comes, I’m on the 2p side. My goal is to deplete my opponents HP before he does the same. Wait…what was the question?
Best description yet, but you forgot to mention that Wolfkrone uses a lot more burn kicks than Latif. Latif seems to avoid using them at times while Wolfkrone is creative in the use of burn kicks. So the better Viper is either Uryo or Dashio, yep no doubt about that.
