lol yeah, i made that thread the last time it happened to me (the time before this one). the reason you wouldn’t be able to tell is that srk was “glitched” at the time so my first post appears like third or fourth in the thread. then this happened and its like i’m thinking this can’t happen any more. suppose i don’t have any money in my paypal account? even if i do have the money its the principle of the matter. i don’t want premium membership anymore, really. i’d rather spend the money on something else and its alarming that its automatically being taken out of my account. this CAN’T be a monthly thing. and this time the money was taken out and i don’t even have premium membership. na, i can’t turn away from this this time. especially after i got ripped off for $188 the other day trying to cop huf dunks. i need every dollar i can get…
you have to cancel it through paypal, as the subscription is created through them.
we want people to be able to read srk to get a sneak peak and what they could be getting if they are a full fledged member. so now its set to only allow the first page of a post to be read, then it requires a user account to go any further.
just uncheck the save your acct box and remember to log out. not that hard people.
yeah in the coming days ill fix that up again, we just went through another forum software update and things got screwy.
To cancel a subscription in payal:
log into account
My Account Tab
History subTab
Show: Subscriptions
Change the time period to something appropriate
It should show your SRK subscription as well as any others
Go to the detail page
in small print at the bottom there should be a cancel subscription link.
There may be a confirmation page afterwards.
Then go to this url to complete your cancellation LINK
Thanks for the help. Nice try though on the last link:rofl:
thx a lot cuz i didn’t know that whole thing existed lol. i really gotta read up on paypal a lot more.
Holy crap we got a lot of stickies right now.
Not a complaint really, just an observation.
I know that at least a couple of those stickies are meant to make GD less clutered, i’m just not sure if it’s really helping overall.
why not make a subforum in gd for computer help? it’s been stickied for years.
umm…
how about another GD subforum for gaming?
this way, random bullshit
- non - fighters
- computer tech support
I swear, almost every single thread that I try to come back to for reference or a link is deleted. Where on earth did the Myspace Killed Someone thread go?
hey mods/admins, there’s a bug with the srk cookie. You should set the domain to .shoryuken.com (note the starting “.”)…cause right now when you log into the forum at http://shoryuken.com/forums/, you’ll need to log in again when you follow a link to http://www.shoryuken.com/
it’s no biggie, but it’s pretty annoying imo.
I’d simply like to know why the post limit is 1 post every 240 seconds… that’s insanely high compared to the other forums I’ve been to. The highest I’ve seen before this was 60 seconds and that drove me up the wall.
I can’t surf this forum like a normal one, I have to write a response, wait 2-3 minutes on something else, normally get distracted and I’m gone from the site for half an hour or more. If I could make posts in that time it wouldn’t happen.
Why is the limit so damn high?
edit1- Got this when trying to make the post “This forum requires that you wait 240 seconds between posts. Please try again in 74 seconds.”
SRK has always had a 240 second limit to prevent the traffic and overload of posts from crashing the damn place. That and it’s stopped trolls and flamers from other forums from “spamming” the place up.
ACT LIKE YOU KNOW!
Snowman, it hasn’t always had that.
Anyway though, I bet i’m probably the only person on SRK who actually LOGS OUT when done. Due to being on a netcafe halfway across the world.
When logging out, it gives me an error the first time, and I have to relog out to properly log out. This happens everytime. Might be a problem for anyone who doesnt check after clicking the log out and instead just X’s the window. Someone else could roll up on the computer and be on an account they know nothing about.
Ok maybe it hasn’t but I can see why it does now. Back when I first joined (early 2003) this site had tons of people online (alot more than these days), and that kind of traffic must have been hell if the post count was like 30 seconds each. I remember SRK going down a fair bit (the whole F5 that shit down jokes came out) but I can’t remember the reason for the downtime…
And I can see why SRK has stuck with the 240 post count, especially when a few people go over to Gaia Online and piss them off, the Gaians come here trying to spam the place up and they’re stopped in their tracks because they have to wait 4 minutes to repost… If I remember correctly this happened twice!?
Everyone at one time has complained about the 4 minute wait, but it’s an SRK thing.
scuttles off to carry on watching the darts
I’d much rather have some assholes spamming for an hour and then banned than be forced to wait SO LONG to post I end up just leaving the forum for the day, just my 2 cents
^Because you weren’t here when we had the forum wars.
Seriously, that’s why this place is almost spam free.
I fucking hate the 240 rule. There’s no doubt in my mind that it has driven a lot of the old posters away as much as it has driven spammers away.
However, it is only an issue in GD…because who’s better, ryu or ken? it takes longer to come up with the answer than you think!
I was an admin of a site roughly half as big as this. I have ALOT of forum experience, I know what spam wars are, I also know the worst thing that ever really happens is a moderator has to do some work for once and the forums are fucked for a few hours at most.
The 240 rule almost has me quitting these forums already. I have to have 3-4 windows open so all my responses get thrown out over a 20 minute period… what the fuck?
edit- This forum requires that you wait 240 seconds between posts. Please try again in 167 seconds.
…
There is no reason why the 240 shouldnt be lessened to 60. 60 still fucks up spammers, 60 is a reasonable limit to stop one-line responses, 60 works. 240 is insane.
This forum requires that you wait 240 seconds between posts. Please try again in 39 seconds.
sigh… literally 2/3 of my posts don’t get posted on time.
