MODS SUGGESTION THREAD: No crying in here

its called backing up the server.

I see thx

Can someone make a sticky to stop telling people to respond to spam bot messages, in every fourm. If you respond to it, it just makes the bot say ā€œHey, there’s people here, spamspamspamā€¦ā€

Yes somebody posted such last page…best thing to do is to leave it alone or pm a admin/mod of that forum.

What I’d like to know is why under my avatar it says ā€œStrike 2ā€

Uh, I was never warned of a strike 1 or even 2.

And I’ve done nothing but helpful things as far as I’m concerned.

I’d be nice if a mod were to, oh you know, contact me if I did something wrong so I know it!

:frowning:

Any info would be great.

That is your rep, which is given to you or taken from you by Premium members for whatever reason(s) they choose, and it doesn’t affect anything (although it will prevent you from using SRK Arcade if you have a red bar). Mods give infractions, and you will know when you get one.

Here, I’ll give you a sample warning on your post just so you can see what it looks like.

Thanks for the speedy reply,

Sucks that my account is essentially limited to parts of the forums now because of some oversensitive people. Power to the masses is scary :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah well I dont use SRK Arcade, thanks!

I’ll add that you can see who negged you if you purchase premium membership.

I shall overule some negs on you.

Ooo see now thats a quality sales pitch… evil

Maybe I will, just to play detective and help out all at once!

Wow thats just cool! Although now I know who gave it to me, probably was better off not knowing :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: hehe

Keep up the good work.

Really? Okay.

someone is randomly giving out negative reps in The ā€œCurrently Playingā€ Game Thread

WAAAAY too many damn stickies. Got like 8 of 'em now right?

Buy premium and neg them back.

SF: Perhaps the bot sticky can be moved to the ā€œthings that don’t fly in the GDā€ thread since everybody just about viewed it. I’ll add that the walter thread appears to be temp. for a few days maybe.

Is it possible to apply a name->anchor tag to vB code?

What I’m referring to is the <a name=ā€œtextā€> in HTML code. The name tag lets you directly link to a specific section of a page, instead of the link directing you to the top of the page. As with the link here, the link takes you directly to that section of the page instead of the top of the page. But that’s because there’s already a named HTML anchor on the page that can be linked to.

According to that same vB code help page here you’re able to ā€œnameā€ links with vB code, but I haven’t found a use for it. I mean, naming a link with vB code doesn’t seem to allow you to direct link to the section of the page that it’s on, it just gives the link a description like [this](http://forums.shoryuken.com/misc.php?do=bbcode#url name="this). Linking back to this thread for example with #this at the end should take you to the line that ā€œthisā€ link is on, but it does not. Or at least, I haven’t found a way to link to a named vB anchor, if it’s possible that is.

…is it just me or is the search function dead?

been like that for a LONG time. some stuff will be found others randomly don’t

ex.

"alpha 2"
works

"alpha tier list"
does not.

can u give premium members the choice to give ultra rep, like ephidel can give or little rep… like 100 rep points if they really like their post or 20 rep points if they kind of liked it. same with neg rep also.
just the choice to give our max rep or not on some post.

I was having a small problem. I’ve been suscribing to a thread but everytime I go to check it in my User CP it isn’t there and I have to resubscribe to it. Is there something I’m doing wrong or is this a common problem?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured out what I was doing wrong.

Dunno if this is the right thread to file a complaint about this, but I’ve noticed that if you try to search for posts in a specific section (for instance, trying to select the ā€œSearch this Forumā€ option in GD), all you get is a blank page. Same thing happens if you try to search in a specific section through Advanced Search.

(Happens on both Firefox and IE, so this is not browser-specific.)
