I for one completely love the minute rule, lord knows my comedy gold nuggets come in 60 second bursts. It does make the thinking out loud thread a tad unruly, but I considered that a spammy thread to begins with, that and I save a lot of time skipping KiMjOnGiLl’s posts and any quoting said posts.

Well, some of it seems like people use the 60 sec rule to postwhore it up. Is there a way we can tie rep to the delay? Like if you don’t have a certain amount you have to wait the 240? Probably not, but just wondering…

The Thinking Out Loud thread goes up 4 pages over night every night all of a sudden. And a lot of us really like that thread. So, in order to keep the spam down in that thread, we’ll have to up the count so it doesn’t get locked or some shit.

The 240 rule didn’t really come about till after 2001. It was some stupid thread that happened in '03(I think) that got SRK the 240 second rule. At least make it 120 seconds. That’s a whole lot better than 240.
Don’t get me wrong, I love being able to post without worrying if 240 seconds have elapsed since my last post.
But, as some people have pointed out, it’s given rise to IM-esque posts, post whoring, and people in general making more throw-away posts. However, rather than go back to the 240, I think this is something that we the members of GD should enforce. I mean, we don’t hesitate to jump all over people for other stupid shit. Why should this be different. If we see someone post-whoring, call them on it. If they don’t stop, then perhaps a mod can say something.
Let’s give the 60 a chance to work. If we were to increase the post time limit again, I’d say start off with 120 instead of going right back to 240.
From what I see, there is now a 150-second limit between posts.

It seems as though 150 secs might be a little too long. 120 secs would be my vote, but its whatever to me.

Why is there a 30 second wait in between searches?
The option where thread starters can delete their own threads should be returned. That option was here about 2 or 3 months ago.
There is a new rule in effect on the site. There is no instant messenger logs or irc logs allowed on the site. Keep it on those mediums and dont bring it here.
