I was on a roll last night…new additions to the lineup:
Great Gazoo, Automan (with Cursor! Again, few people remember that shit but me.), and I’m updating Stan the Bugman since I unlocked the overalls recently.
Also, I finally beat a Grudge Match! I was thinking it was impossible(heh, even for Mr. Impossible himself), starting to lose hope…but on what was probably the 4th or 5th try this morning, I beat that guy… I think the character’s name is “Slick”…you have to outscore him, which already seems questionable when it’s a cpu-controlled character we’re talking about here. (cpu can just go, “oh I have more points than you…because I say so. I win.”) Anyway, I got into a good groove of points with the constant and early drifting, hitting that super jump around the mid-point of the track to get the midair spin-points, and more midair spin/stunt points on that other big jump before the finish line…I kept it up and outscored that bitch by like 30,000 points. Of course, I unlocked his car (which has the “luggage” spoiler piece!), hair-rollers (time to make Big Worm from Friday!) another pair of goggles and something else I forgot.

Whoa, there are some badass mods being made in here. Love the Jet Moto ones, SRK karts and Millions stuff (that maxi pad was pretty disturbing though). I just 100% unlocked the items so if I make some stuff I’ll be sure to post in here.

The creation aspect is cool but what really interests me is the online multiplayer are all karts statistically the same? it would be kind of lame if all the customization is limited to just the outward appearance.
You can adjust a slider for more Speed/Acceleration, and another for easier Handling/Drifting. Moving the slider towards one stat’s side to increase it decreases the stat of its opposite. That’s it as far as speed/handling adjustments or customization. It’s enough for this game.
There are some differences. You can adjust the stats of your kart for better handling, acceleration or top speed…and of course one value is tied to another, something like “+2” fast acceleration would mean “-2” to top speed and vice versa. I usually have it set at +1 for handling and +1 for top speed, and so far that has worked for just about all of Career Mode.
These challenges are SO damn hard though…just finishing all the races is definitely within the realm of being possible, but the special challenges are where the difficulty really goes off the deep end, imo…usually because you have to do these extra little things AND come in 1st place…even if the objective is done…if you finish 2nd it won’t count. That kinda shit makes me want to toss the controller right out the window sometimes, man.
*Surprisingly, my controller has not actually been thrown at all since I’ve had the game…that’s quite a big deal for me since I’ve completely lost it and gone into full Rage Mode? with tons of games before.
*I keep forgetting to try making Beavis & Butthead! It just randomly popped into my head. I also finished making the Great Gazoo earlier…he was the little green Martian from The Flinstones.
…ooh, then there’s perhaps Mork from Mork & Mindy, The Greatest American Hero…maybe Max Headroom…the 80s and 70s pop culture is filled with all kinds of interesting inspiration. Sheeit, I might need to make Q*bert later as well…

I love the stuff that’s been popping up in this thread; the creation aspects of this game continually amaze me. It seems that people are getting better and more creative as they get more experience with the game - and it’s only been out for less than 2 weeks!
ok fuck that… I see now that the wallride + drift challenge on the Range finale has got to be impossible. There’s no way in hell you can do that AND manage to get first place. I’m not even going to waste anymore time trying.

How do you take pics inside the modspot when you’re editing characters?
I’m about to start busting out with a ton of original creations, starting off with reworking my very first mod, Freshalicious Rex, and his kart, The Freshmobile, from the ground up.
Nah man, it’s possible, I did it in two separate races because the speed increase when you drift makes it really hard to get the wallride points too.
I don’t know about you guys but I cheesed my way through the career mode. For whatever reason, I found that if you stack a level 3 weapon (works best with rockets and warp) and don’t use boost, the game is a LOT easier on you. Don’t boost unless you need max speed points for a challenge (or unless you’re drifting so you’ll make the boost back when you end the drift), save it for random attacks from the AI, they shouldn’t be throwing that many because you’re not attacking them.
heh, just the name “Freshmobile” is funny to me for some reason.
Hit “Select Mod”, then you can press Start to go right into photo mode. Looking at Brown Hornet’s picture just now, I just remembered that I forgot to include his belt! That just won’t do at all…it’s almost as bad as Batman with no utility built.
Unfortunately, none of the glasses I have really work as Horatio Caine-caliber sunglasses, so it needed sticker-assistance.

I just completed a challenge from…eh I forgot the name already…it’s where you have to take out 3 racers on a rickety bridge. This one is a much more reasonable challenge, imo…of course, if you miss the first opportunity on lap 1 it’s a done deal and you’d need to restart…but I got it in a few tries. (with only mild colorful language yelled out on occasion) This unlocked the Baja car body…and a few other things I already forgot.
another one down! I just beat Iceman Grudgematch…after what seemed like a thousand tries tonight. I thought it was a lost cause when I had a “brain freeze” moment and wasted that first jump opportunity (didn’t spin or jump), but everything else from that point on went almost perfectly…he got to the finish line first, but I still beat him on points! Iceman was no match for the power of The Brown Hornet.
I’ve stopped creating and moved to doing XP races. Too much fun!

Why can’t they let you zoom in really close? The logo on the back doesn’t look that good because I couldn’t get close enough to see.
^hell yeah…of course he needs the legendary Six Machine as his ride, y’know. Joe was also on my list of “to be made” characters…I may see what I could do with making Captain Blue later today. heh, that brought back memories…Viewtiful Joe happens to be one of my favorite games of all time. It’s a shame they made some questionable and downright terrible decisions with the franchise from part 2 onward.
This also reminds me once again that they desperately need better cape options in the game.
*oh yeah… I also unlocked the “luggage” spoiler recently…and I think it was the Iceman grudge match that gave me the “antlers” odds/ends piece…heh, one could probably make Bullwinkle with that, I suppose…oooh, or that moose character from the Get-A-Long Gang!
haha, I have so many track-creation pieces unlocked now, yet I’ve only made 2 tracks. I have about 50 or so characters made at this point, with somewhere around 37 karts. Of course I’m still limited to the initial 21 creation spots online though.
*some good Old School Spirit may be next… I have to finish working on a good “TSU” car…heh, with a TSU Tiger character to drive it of course.
Seriously, fuck these challenges, man. They’re so fucking stupid.
I can’t even get the fucking 5 modbot challenge on fucking Mt. Pain because the fucking AI is a piece of shit.
