Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

you can file them i guess. i know people have done it but personally that’s too much work. try asking around, yu’d be suprised, usually just asking your close network of friends, yu’re bound to have one who has what yu need. a dremel is pretty common for someone crafty to have. you’ll also have to cut off the small tabs on the buttons. Even with a dremel it probably took me half an hour to an hour taking my time and not screwing anything up. i can’t imagine filing down the metal tabs.

Also this:

I have a friend who takes a shop class at my high school so I’ll just ask him if his class has a dremel and if he can file the plate down for me. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll probably just buy one myself.

Hi, i just registered (i’ve been here for so long but now i wanted to register :P), ok, so i’m going to buy the HFS3 and i want to mod it (buttons) and i saw Seimitsu PS-14-KN’s (if i’m not mistaken the buttons are 30mm) and my question is: will they fit in the stick ?

Thank you :bgrin:

Yes.

But the buttons will fit exactly right ? no need to mess with the stick too much :stuck_out_tongue:

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to put this image as a template for the Hori Fight Stick 3 - I will be receiving mine in a week or so and would like to have this ready to go on my stick

I have an idea of what I want but I’m not sure what I’d be looking to purchase. Basically I feel like the stock stick of the HSF3 is too loose and doesn’t snap back to neutral fast or tightly enough. Also, I would like to get a bat top replacement. I’ve read that Sanwa sticks are looser so I’m hesitant to get one. What should I get then?

hey guys, im a complete moron when it comes to modding sticks, ive never done it.

I love my hori, i have a TE that i think is fucking garbage. Sadly after 2 years of regular use one of the buttons is starting to shit out. I see in the first page that i need a JLF 8y joy stick with the harness, unfortunately lizardlick doesnt sell one with the harness anymore, is there another recomended stick that i can put in without too much hassle.

All Sanwa JLF are the same; some just have different prefixes to show what is added on.

Here the six variations listed in Sanwa Catalog ('07~'08):
JLF-TP-8 is Base JLF.
JLF-TP-8Y is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90.
JLF-TP-8T is Base JLF with JLF-P-1 (Flat Mounting Plate).
JLF-TP-8YT is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90 with JLF-P-1 (Flat Mounting Plate).
JLF-TP-8S is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90 with JLF-P-1S (S Mounting Plate).
JLF-TP-8Y-SK is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90 with JLF-CD (Shaft Cover).

Of course other variations can be done too:
JLF-TP-8-SK, JLF-TP-8T-SK, JLF-TP-8S-SK, JLF-TP-8YT-SK.

I’ll just add this for completeness, since it is JLF:
JLF-TM-8 can do; JLF-TM-8T, JLF-TM-8T-SK, JLF-TM-8S, JLF-TM-8S-SK.

For a JLF in HORI Fighting Stick 3, you need only a bare JLF.
Not going to use a Mounting Plate.
Shaft Cover only aesthetic.

So you can buy any JLF on Lizard Lick.
And remove the Mounting Plate, since not use.
Even the non-PCB version of JLF, and wire up like how the stock Hori Joystick is.

There are many ways to install a JLF.
Can use Wire Harness if want.
Don’t need Wire Harness.

But you can buy Wire Harness from Lizard Lick if you want.

And Lizard Lick sells JLF with Harness.
And Lizard Lick sells JLF without Harness.
So I don’t know what you mean that Lizard Lick does not include.

Does anybody know which wires correspond to the buttons on the top mini-PCB?

Are the buttons going to exactly fit into the stick ? i’m talking about the Sanwa OBSF-30

Anybody? I know some of you have made it work. I just can’t figure out which is the ground, Start, Select and PS button.

@spadedkiing here you go, sorry it took a bit of time, i don’t often look around here much as i used to.

@EduVL90 No the button hole have tabs which you need to grind off. then you just need to make the hole slightly larger.

wow nice. how did you keep the top intact?

Everything can be done from the inside.

Does anyone know if the Hori Fighting Stick 3 be able to fit a Seimitsu LS-56 Octagonal Restrictor Plate? Just wanna know because I don’t want to risk drilling a gt-y the wrong way for nothing, while this restrictor plate already has holes

Fair enough. I was just under the impression you had to rip it out as per instructions on the front page.
