Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

Modify what to HRAP 3 SA and HRAP EX SE?

You cannot love me.
You have KMS951.
Laugh.

So I finished my mod today, but for some reason now when I press UP on the joystick it doesn’t work. I’m going to open it up and try to figure it out, but any insight is welcome; thanks.

So I looked under the heatshrink on the wires and the microswitch for UP didn’t even have the wire soldered, creating intermittent contact. I just went and soldered it and now it works great. I’ll be putting in a LS33 stick within the next week, but for now this is the completed mod

Very nice, so you are using the original Hori stick? The LS-33 mod is very easy.

yes, as of now I am just using the hori stick. I didn’t want to do the stick replacement just yet due to $$$ restrictions due to mortgage & bills meh. Next month I’ll get the LS-33 and put that in there

Help in choosing QD

Hi

I’m about to buy QDs for the mod that I’m making… can anyone help me in choosing from this store?

Thanks!

You should order from gamingnow.net

He’s in Austrailia, I think. Maybe he wants to order from that store to save on shipping?

None of those will be, if you are looking for .110" Quick Disconnect.
eBay Seller only has .250" (6.3mm) and .187" (4.8mm) Size Quick Disconnect.

I tend to use .187 size. Put them on offset to the side and they hold just fine.

Yes, I’m in australia…
So which one should i look for? .187 or .110? will it be the same regardless if i’ll use seimitsu’s clear buttons or sanwas? I should get the “spade” type, yeah?

Some people use .187" Quick Disconnect.
Some use .110" Quick Disconnect.

Sanwa and Seimitsu made to have .110" Size fit on.
.187" can go on too, but not as tight as .110".

No, you want Quick Disconnect, not Spade Terminals.

The above was just what I needed to know. Thank you very much =)

Wonderfull design. I’ll post mine in a little while.

Is it necessary to quote all those pictures?

My bad, I’m new here and still a bit unfamiliar with the proper etiquette. I’ve edited out most of them now in the LS-33 mounting guide quote.

I have a question about the stock stick and buttons. Are these the same stick and buttons on the EX-2?? I played on an ex-2 and it felt pretty good, but then I tried my friends hori tekken 6 ps3 stick and really hated the feeling of the buttons. So are the stock buttons the same as ex-2? or are they the same as hori tekken 6 stick? or all they all different???

I have a 360 TE, but i’ve been wanting to buy one of these for a while cause I have a few friends who play on ps3 and it sucks to play on pad when I’m over. They’re only 34 bucks on amazon with free ship so it’s soooo tempting!!!

I don’t know if the buttons are the same, but even if they are the same, it would be pointless for you to buy a second stick for use on the PS3 when you can just dual mod your TE for just slightly more money. All you need is a Cthulhu and an Imp, which can be purchased from Gamingnow.net for about $40, and instructions for performing the mod are in this thread and this thread.

that’s a good idea, but I think I wanna get the fs3 instead of just dual modding cause I play on pc, so my friends can use fs3 when they come over in case they didn’t bring. Also the lack of soldering tools/skills will make it hard/costly. I’m looking at fs3 just being a casual toy I can use from time to time when needed. Nothing serious as I don’t play in competitive tourneys or anything.

So anyone know about the stock fs3 hori buttons compared to ex-2 and tekken 6 buttons? I know they wont be as good as the sanwas, but to me the ex-2 felt pretty decent. Buttons on tekken 6 stick weren’t that great tho.

You can perform the mod without solder if you so desire. Pre-assembled Cthulhu boards use screw terminals, so there’s no need for soldering connections to it, and you can use a DPDT switch in place of an Imp, using either quick disconnects like with this one or the included screws with this one to secure the connections. Then just cut a small hole in the cord compartment and secure the switch in place with some glue.

I’ve been reading this tread for many days now but have some questions. I have a wii stick and wanted to know if the stock gate is much worse than a hori square and also what is the common spring people tend to use. I plan on using cheery switches and im very happy with the way my hrap3 feels so dose the gate really need changed? thanks
