Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

Maybe, I havent really made a depth comparison between the two since I build sticks as well but, if anything, you can always grind the edges to make the holes bigger. But as far as the nut goes, I think it might be a tight fit when tightening them on the panel. Its got the same button spacing as a HRAP so screw-ins will be a bit of a hassle but not enough to just give up on it. If you have seimitsu nuts to use, those would make it easier.

i ended up just getting 6 OBSN and a JLF. hopefully when it all arrives i can put it all together with ease.

geniuses… and i was wondering if i should buy the hori 3.

i dont have a ps3 but i wanted to mod this stick if i got it.
so it is possible to mod it to ps2 right? ive never modded a stick to ps2, only dreamcast.

can anyone tell me what brand controller i should get to mod it? cuz i looked @ the sony brand…and thats just near impossible for me.

yes its possible. sony PSone dualshock controllers are the best for general stick modding. right?

anyone have any artwork templates for it yet?

i want to personalize mine:sweat:

my hfs3 came in, but im waiting on ponyboy for my parts

i know PSone dualshocks are easy…but will it work on ps2 tho? i wanna mod one for ps2 and i was wondering what kind of ps2 controller i shud buy to mod it or just use the dualshock 2, which looked impossible to me since the pins were so close together =/

suggestions? help? tips?

Analog creates alot of problems for padhacking a PS2 controller. Go ebay a PSone DS. There are a couple going for $8 + shipping

will it work on ps2 with the PSone DS?

Yes. PSone dualshocks are pretty much PS2 controllers w/o analog (I think)

sweet… 1 more thing…

where do i solder the main wire that runs through everything?

I just finished modding my fighting stick 3. =] took my 5 hours total.

changed the pcb inside to a psone dualshock…which works on my ps2 now also =]

so what you guys think?

Awesome.

How does it play?

With this horrible weather, I’ve been forced indoors (In the middle of an engine swap) so, I decided to try and finish my FS3 by Monday.
I’ll lay down some color tomorrow

In high build primer awaiting a block sanding and sealing…

since my white sanwa buttons are a little bigger i had to scrape the tabs off the holes. and a bit looser than the buttons already on the original stick.

and i switched the colors, so the black button with the white frame or the R1 and R2 button is very sensitive for some reason, good in a way, but i can barely push it and it’ll work… i think ill switch it back to being completely white. the grey buttons are dead, cuz i wont be using them.

overall i love it tho. good stick. later on im painting the aluminum frame white.

Lucky for us, the metal plate ain’t aluminum, it’s plated steel. If it were aluminum, it’d be difficult to get paint to stick and being as thin as it is, it would bend and flex very easily.

Before you attempt to paint, make sure you scuff or remove the coating on the panel so that paint will stick.

really? i was thinking to just prime it after…but that wont work either?

aw heck…i wont touch it then…too lazy anyway…just glad i got it done and to work…

on the sanwa JLFs the 5th(black) wire is the ground correct?

so as long as i wire it up to one of the four grounds that were used with the default stick, i should be fine?

Correct

word. i would be done with it. just waiting on my new paaaarts. stupid labor day :frowning:

edit: got my parts in (except for two which you will definitely notice)
