Can we add characters to SF 4?

Also,can we edit the button input for a move? e.g. Change the Ryu Haouken command d,df,f + P to d,db,b + P(Basically any command that the character doesn’t use) ?

1st : Means that computer owners won’t be able to play SF 4,but they MIGHT actually be able to play with two SSF 4 characters,since they were going to get released for SF 4,and I THINK that there are empty slots for them,One of them was T-Hawk,I don’t remember the other.

I haven’t read through the whole thing, because 40 pages is quite a bit… but…

How could I add my own personal music to the game? So it say, plays a random song for each match, or at least be able to add a certain song so it plays when I face that character.

Have you noticed that some animations exist that aren’t used in the game? eg. Viper’s old animations for her m.TK and h.TK are still there. The older versions of her moves are crap though. Old m.TK looks a bit like l.TK but Viper doesn’t crouch so low and she sort of glides in the air. Old h.TK has less vertical range and you can’t use it for feints. She also has the animation for her old Ultra. I didn’t test it thoroughly but it looks exactly the same, except that the last flip kick hits twice, and giving her a total of 643(!!!) damage for the Ultra. There seems to be some animation missing though because after the last hit the opponent flies high into the air and disappears for a moment.

The animation for Guile’s SSFIV move where he puts on his shades is also in SFIV. Only problem is when I tried it he does the animation, but the shades are missing.

Maybe some other chars also have unused animations but I didn’t bother to check all of them.

Quite a few characters have unused input commands as well. Off the top of my head, Guile has a DP motion listed and Viper has half-circle-forward. I don’t know what moves they are linked to though.

For those who wanted to know if Ken and Ryu would get a messed up if you swap them… They don’t. It’s almost a perfect swap. Just missing a few textures from each others move list.

I guess I’ll explain it in a way that everyone can understand.

On the first post arayashiki01, kindly posted the software needed to make all of our current efforts possible.

1.)Offzip. The link is in the first post, get it.

2.)You must open the zip folder containing Offzip then place it in the folder you want to extract the files from IE: C:\Program Files\CAPCOM\STREETFIGHTERIV\Battle\Chara\CNL. The same thing that arayashiki01 already posted.

3.)Create a folder to dump the DAT file in after you extract it.

4.)If you’re a Vista user hold shift in the folder(the folder with the EMZs not the empty folder…) and right click. Press “Open command line here” then type in offzip.exe -m 16 -a -z -15(this tells the command line what to do) followed by the file name, in the case of the CMN files you type CNL(character name).CMN(the file type).EMZ(This is the zip type) then add the folder name “yourfoldernamehere” 0 (with space and a zero after) then press enter. It till show a bunch of stuff that looks like:

In the folder will be a DAT file.

5.)Once you have the DAT file, open it in Hex editor(please google) open the dat file you want to edit and scroll to the bottom where (as Digital posted already…) you will see the top image:

6.)As shown on the bottom image, change the initial of the characters moves you want to transfer(if you want blanka to have sagats moves you have to edit sagats CMN then go to the bottom change the initials of SGT to BLK (NOTE: It has to be capital letters)

7.)Go to File>Save as then type the Initials of the character you want to use the moves IE: BLK.cmn.emz hex editor will create the EMZ for you.

8.)Copy or Cut and paste the file in the character folder you want to use it.

9.) Launch SF4 and enjoy.

locate the character’s CMN.EMZ file you wish to use the moves from. (in this case I wanted Akuma’s moves so I went and located his file “GKI.CMN.EMZ”)

you extract the DAT file from cmn.emz file

open the DAT file in any hex editor

scroll all the way down to the bottom of the list

there will be 7 entries with the character’s letters (in this case its GKI)

replace GKI with the letters of the character that you want to use Akuma’s moves with (in this case its RYU)

So we replace GKI.skl.emo with RYU.skl.emo and so forth.

How do you extract the DAT file from the cmn.emz file? Yes I know I am brand new to HexEdit cause I installed it today. I want sagat with Ken moves, dhalsim having Chun-Li moves,Akuma having Ryu moves and guile and vega claw having bison dictator moves.

I think it would be very useful if it was possible.

Judging by the engine and the nature of 3D fighting games, I’d say it’d be impossible without changing the animation speeds of every move in the game. Not worth it. Although I’m sure a lot of people would like a “turbo” option.

sorry hadnt been checking this until it was pointed out to me, had to reinstall so i lost the bookmark
i think the dp motion w/ guile is safe to assume it is his shades
