"Mmm... You look like you're in good shape": Juri Q&A and General Discussion Thread

Any tips for Ibuki’s air kunai to cross up?

Counter/EX Counter has been working for me lately, You can also c.MP or c.HP the kunais depending on the distance.

Btw where can I find Juri’s Winquotes?

What are some good anti-air for Juri?

cr.MP
cr.HP
st.MK
st.HP
EX Pinwheel (done early)

Listed in order froPm best to worst.

EDIT: Whoops. Meant st.HP, not st.HK.

Cool, thanks.

I played against the #8 Juri in the US earlier today and he WAXED me. I was using Dee Jay, but after seeing him play, I’ve decided that I’m gonna stick with Juri. I was beginning to have my doubts using her, but she has some potential, I just have to put in the work with her.

gg guys sorry i had to leave out of no where. i recorded most of the fights so they will be up tomorrow

You could use the threat of EX Dive Kick to U2 to play mindgames. Most of the time, when I do have it, I actually don’t plan to use it immediately. However, a simple jump seems to put most opponents on edge and make them back off.

There’s a Juri ranking? Who was this person?

I assume he means the #8 Juri ranked on PSN/360 in BP.

Ah. That makes more sense.

Yeah he was #8 on XBL in BP with Juri. His name is sepSEV

I heard somewhere that j.HP can out beat wakeup srk. If you time it right you will completely knock them down be for they can srk. You can also trade if the timing is off. Is this true and is it advisable to do?

Damn, I’m at work, but I would love to try this out. If true, it’d be a great tool for pressure.

Tried this for a bit, and I was not able to completely beat out SRKs but got trades against Ryu and Boxer. Against worse reversals (Ibuki?) I suspect you’ll beat it clean, and Guile’s flash kick is one reversal you shouldn’t try to stuff with this, even non EX one will out prioritize your j.HP.

It does have a very narrow horizontal hitbox so you will have to space your jump in properly so you don’t whiff it. Also, with some clever spacing you can choose which side Juri lands on after j.HP hits them/is blocked.

I actually played sepSEV’s Juri last night with my own Juri (I’m around 1,300BP) and beat him fairly easily. I c.mp’ed his jump ins, did plenty of c.mk xx lk.wheel pokes, and got him with a few dive kicks.

Maybe it was just a bad game for him or he’s not good at mirror matches. I expected to be wiped as you did, but luckily did okay. He’s currently hovering around rank 40 right now.

P.S. Any tips against Guile? By far my most hated match up.

Is it me or does st.lk -> cr.mp/cr.mk not feel like a 1 frame link? I’m landing it pretty damn consistently considering I’m not plinking nor using a stick.

I’ve gotten this to work. From what I can tell you have to jump a tad late and j.HP kinda high for it to straight beat out a dp. Kinda hard to space/time, but since j.HP can cross up you can go for cross up games at the same time as going anti-dp. I’ve had a couple instances where I try to ambiguous cross up and the dp just whiffs, since Juri’s hurtbox is kinda thin, which can be even better sometimes

Is the st.lk->c.mk a 1 frame link? Man, I’m having a lot of troubles landing this link. I can land st.lp->c.mk consistently, but it whiffs on crouchers :crybaby:

Any tips? Thx

That’s what the frame data says. st.lk is +6 on hit, and cr/mp/mk startup is 6 frames, according to it. st.lp is +7 on hit, that’s why it’s a bit easier. I just stick to cr.lk x 3 or cr.lk s.lk s.lk for my combos unless I clearly see my opponent standing.
