That is why you don’t random ultra…
You have to combo into that sht
I think all of those apply pretty much equally to every ultra in the game. There really isn’t an ultra that you can do (without setting it up properly) that won’t make the other player cry in glee during the screen freeze from knowing the free punish combo he’ll be landing in a moment. Except FSE.
Here’s one time when Juri’s U2 is pretty sweet: when you’re in a mirror match and the other Juri is low on health and does a panic ultra which you block, leaving her sailing above your head into the sky, and your revenge gauge is full.
Kimochi yokatta darou?
Hoo hoo hoo
MP Kasatushi causes Juri to dash back, which maintains distance as long as the other player isn’t moving forward. The Ken I mentioned did nothing for about 20 seconds but stay full screen and fireball.
As for other techniques, if you smell a fireball, do a forward jump and you can EX Dive Kick on reaction to the fireball most of the time. Also, if they are within about 3/4 screen distance, LP Kasatushi will put you right next to them after you absorb the fireball.
Sorry if this question is in some thread, but are any of the pinwheel kicks safe on block?
Nope, safest one is Lk pinwheel which is -4 if blocked standing, and -9 if blocked crouching.
Okay, some random questions with juri.
During her counter, can she input? I ask this because technically…I should be able to punish lightning cannonball with
(Ultra activates) - Block low - mp Kasatushi (Dash back) - Ultra.
However, what happens is things like fireballs, far HK. A part of me think’s it could be my input, but I dont know how much more clean to do it. Furthermore, I’m unable to do it when using lp up vs fireballers. been wondering about that, only been able to do it once vs gouken, and its because he stood there for a second, and I used it as he fireballed me again.
Next question, How do you physically hold you’re fuhajin? I’ll devote a finger to it, however some people have said that they hold TAP with rog with their palm.
Third, some Frame data suggests that there are different recoveries for ex pinwheel depending on the button used. Furthermore, some have said you can controll juri’s ex dive kick depending on buttons, any truth?
Kail, the frame data has Fuhajins and Senpushas reversed. THat’s where you get the frame data differences.
You can’t input stuff during the dash part of the Kasatsushi. HOWEVER, you can perform a Kara cancel on the moment of absorption. You can cancel into EX.Senpu, EX.Fuhajin or EX. kasatsushi. Theoretically, you can cancel into Ultra/Super.
Notice some things that I don’t think were mentioned but probably discovered a long time ago. It’s something I just want to jot down for future reference.
- c.Fierce causes a crouching opponent to stand so if you are doing corner combos with Forward Fuhajin releases it’s best to combo into c.Fierce so Forward Fuhajin release combos.
- If you whiff c.Strong and time a second c.Strong during the recovery animation she will do c.Strong almost immediately and it actually moves her forward quite a bit.
- The distance on s.RH is ridiculous you can be at max range which is a bit more than a character space away and it will hit a standing opponent. Furthermore, it whiffs on crouching opponents but puts you in optimal range for a kara throw. It’s not the best strategy to use as your opponent can jab you out of the s.RH but s.RH can go over some low attacks like Ryu’s c.Forward.
- c.Strong is really good in block strings with Fuhajin release in the corner. c.Forward will push you back too far that doing another Fuhajin will whiff but c.Strong will keep you in range for the Fuhajin kick to not whiff. Typically I store Short Fireballs but if you want to abuse frame advantage you can opt not to do a Fuhajin store or c.Strong and opt to do s.short’s (3f startup +2 on block) and go for tick throws or overhead scenarios. It’s pretty useful during FSE corner pressure.
What does j.fap mean?
saw it in the match-up thread
Jump-forward Fierce Punch > J.fp > j.faps
j.faps is actually an inside joke that started somewhere on these boards.
I don’t know why people still use it - I think it’s confusing.
I also think it’s dumb. =\
I think we should talk about OSes again. We haven’t gone into any depth for that at all, and they’re key for high level play.
I rather like J.faps, its endearing.
Since we were on the topic of acronyms, what are OSes (aside from operating systems) ? I’ve been wondering about that for a while now.
OS stands for option select. What it does is you do two sets of sets of inputs, and based on what your opponent does, that’s what your character will do. For example, if you do c.MK xx pinwheel and your opponent doesn’t get touched at all by the cr.MK, the pinwheel doesn’t come out. But if they did walk into cr.mk range, the pinwheel will. So it selects the best option for the situation, hence Option Select.
Hey hey, if you dont use the term j.faps then you arent a True Juri mainer >:/
OS= Option select, its basically doing more 1 command at a time and let the engine pick the best option for you
eg: jump in HK while doing a srk motion:
if the j.HK hits you can follow with a combo
if the j.HK is blocked you can follow with a blockstring
if the j.HK is backdashed or avoided the srk will come out to punish the backdash.
the most known OS are OS techs as theyre universal. there’s also c.jab OS sweeps which almost all the characters can do.
Edit: Zuji beat me to it…
An OS is an option select.
What an option select basically is, is you telling the game to do several different things, and what actually happens is based on the situation. The best example is when you crouch, and option-select throw. When you are crouching and getting hit by a block string, if you constantly input the throw command LP+LK, if your opponent tries to end their block string with a throw, you will tech it because you put the throw command in. Or if their blockstring gets sloppy or they try to walk forward, you hitting LP+LK will cause LK to come out, which causes them to get hit.
j.Faps is awesome. There’s no denying it. Was it MAGUS or Killey who coined it? MAGUS right?
