"Mmm... You look like you're in good shape": Juri Q&A and General Discussion Thread

Because EX pinwheel is amazing?

Anything that can potentially end with a fuhajin store hitting obviously blocked since you want blockstrings.

I like to just do c.lk x c.lk xx lk fuhajin for a blockstring. Lets you be a little safer then pinwheels. :stuck_out_tongue:

Guess some sort of strategy? I don’t see why he’d stay away since he can spam 360 you. W/ my Rog I’m not wasting any time vs Juri, once I’m on top of her there’s nothing they can do… cept spam shitty wheels and get punished.

Anyone figure out when divekick > U2 works and when it doesn’t? Is there a specific spot I need to hit?

Well first assuming he is a good thawk, he was probably Testing your patience… or he could’ve been a scrub who just wins by walking backwards

Sorry, I’m a bit late on this reply, but after a forward throw, if I’m rushing down, I jump forward and HK Dive Kick at the top of my jump arc. It lands you close to your opponent but gives you enough time to block reversals and punish.

I like this technique because it represents aggression when it’s actually very safe. It has a tendency to bait reversals.

What’s a good counter for Cammy’s EX hooligan throw?

crouch >_>"
you can also c.HP it, possibly U2 as well?

@Forward throw talk: f.throw> HK dive at max jump height> activate FSE> Rape.
Floe used this alot in the recent tourney (MWC or w/e)

I think you can also HK pinwheel and you’ll be right on top of them when they get up, depending on the character that might be a good thing or a bad thing.

I just played a fireball spamming Ken online. I had a life lead. He decided to stay full screen and fireball until time ran out.

Focus Absorb, MP Kasatushi, MP Kasatushi, Focus Absorb, MP Kasatushi, MP Kasatushi, rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat… Time Over. Juri Wins!

Thanks. Makes me cry inside to think how much that Cammy player was chortling at my cluelessness.

That T.Hawk player seemed lost and didn’t know what to do. Maybe he didn’t know the match-up? I find that most people who haven’t play a lot against Juri tend to run away cuz they have no idea what to do against her. Works in our favor, since we can zone and poke the shit out of people. Couple of pokes and fireballs here and there and people stay in constant fear. That T.Hawk was just a classic case of someone not knowing the matchup.

There’s an explanation somewhere in the Combo thread. I remember bringing this up once myself.

About the Fl0e’s videos…
How the hell can he connect c.mk > peenwheel > super so good? Does he buffer QCBx2 constantly when throwing a c.mk poke? Right now I can hardly do it out of focus crumple D:

**Easy Answer: **
Until you get better at hit-confirming, only use it in a combo with a jump-in or FSE. That way you can be guaranteed that it’ll land so long as you don’t mess up your execution. Simply do :d::mk::qcb::hk::qcb::k:

(Use :hk: ONLY in the corner, since any other version of the Super will whiff). Using this method, you’re basically buffering the Super during the motion for the Pinwheel.

Hard Answer:
Go to Training Mode and practice hit confirming by putting the Dummy on Random block, then doing :d::mk::qcb:. If the Dummy gets hit by cr.mk, do :k::qcb::k:.

If the Dummy blocks, don’t press kick.

It’s going to take some good ol’ practice to do it consistently, but that’s generally how it works.

Ok so you’ve seen that before. I was starting to wonder if it was just the way I play or if other Juri’s are seeing the same thing. I haven’t seen that with other characters before (though she’s my first new character).

how exactly to you TK the dive kick i think i understand this but im not sure could someone should me the exact inputs

and is this a practical U2 set up: overhead-TK lk dive kick-U2?

Yeah you can do TK dive U2. Very strict timing and only hits on certain characters.

hello

Hi all, I’m new here and trying desperately to learn Juri, although its a hard climb for someone new to fighting games (I only started with SF4 maining Chun-li).

Anyways, I was wondering if someone who speaks japanese could check my Juri quotes (in sig and title) for correctness? It’s one of the lines she speaks when a match ends, I tried to get them right but I’m not that good with japanese and kanji especially.
