Whatever man. You just don’t know what you’re missing. I almost always get over 500-600 damage on Chun with 1 FSE and sometimes I can even activate FSE twice per round. That’s just too good for me to settle for U2 on this match.
And I think I know how to use Ultra 2. I’ve been using it since day 1. I’m just trying to be logical with my Ultra choice.
No way I barely use U2. Certain matchups I do. but overall I choose U1 for almost every character just to see how well I can do with it in certain matchups. Plus you can get at least two U1’s on chun just from all the kikokens and hazunshu’s she does.
FSE imo is what makes Juri, why choose a sub par ultra 2 over her only comeback factor move. The only matchups where i see that viable are in the ones where escape options are too hard to cover, ie Seth, Akuma, Yang, Fei.
I know, but i’m such a juri noob XD
I should practice FSE because it caters to how i play, normals and bnb combos. But i never took the time to learn it, it’s why i don’t consider myself a well rounded Juri player, there’s a big gapping hole where fse should be. I mean hell even the Juri player who inspired me, Goodtimes, is using fse. I’m just trying to figure it all out peps, just give my time juris, i’ll eventually shift over to fse, maybe…
Something I like about FSE is that you don’t even need to do complicated things to get great results.
In fact most of the times the long ass and complex FSE combos scale too much and make you waste a lot of precious time. I just find it better to do a lot of quick, simple and short combos, resets and strings. Nothing fancy. I just try to get in my opponents head.
Now that I think about it, I pretty much only use the same 3 or 4 buttons mixed with Sekku. I just alter crouch and standing, end with sweep xx fuhajin then repeat or frame trap. I use FSE at a very primitive level yet I have a lot of success doing so. I’m sure Kail would put me on blast for saying this lol. Like, I know I’m not doing everything that’s possible to do during FSE but I like to keep things simple and not overthink stuff.
Nah man. Eish has changed my mind on fse. Get the most bang for your buck while you can. Why do a combo that takes execution with the payout of only 300-400 damage when a quick combo will do half and you have potential to mix up after?
I think the simplest things about fse makes her broken. Corner pressure from far. Mk > far hk xx pinwheel? Sick.
So you’re telling me maxiumize damage during the combos, have to set up or make a reset occur. Pretty neat =)
So last night juris i was thinking, how was i going to utilze ex mid fuhajin. I found a way =D
2XFj.mp>cr.hp (opponent is now in recovery frames) after the cr.hp you can stock instantly (because the move is special cancable) but instead you can let a ex mid rip. Given it move slow but the opponent will try not to do anything and you’ll be safe from a punish because by that time you’ll have finished your recover frames.
Same thing off a cr. mp anti air, just a ex mid fuhajin go and you’ll get pressure. Great thing about this move is that it’s so ambigious and causes a lot of fuzzies to opponents. Of course i’ll have to try this out in the lab, it’s all theory atm. >=D love devising new juri tech.
Thanks, next question is…
Can you do cr.HP xx High Fuhajin and have it hit? I know that from the right distances (and in the corner) cr.LP xx High Fuhajin connects, I’m just trying to find a practical use for storing high fuhajin and then being able to use it in a combo rather than giving up the charge.
Character specific. I know it works on Seth… Well!!! What happens with Seth is that it hits him really late in the animation making you even more at advantage.
Yes and no. He said why en on pinwheel or a sweep too much recovery and a waste of timer. Ending in store and resetting or doing a lk pinwheel and keeping pressure afterwards.
Basically. Make it so that you’re constantly hitting them. Find the least expected time to reset an the least expected mix up for that time. While watching for mash outs.
But what i was saying is. Why go through this song and Dance with combos and fadcing and storing fireballs and releasing them and blah blah blah when that long combo is gonna be 350-400 damage, is gonna cost you two bars on top of it and you might drop it.
Go for the 280 combo, and still have 10 seconds left on timer and a knockdown to work with. It’s not guaranteed anymore but you have to apply you knowledge in your character to cover you’re next assault.
My point being. If you didn’t have fse… How would play the match? Dont that?
Fse isn’t an ultra. It’s just a buff to whatever she can do. So play as normal.
Believe the hype of FSE. It really has a lot of potential, and it scares people. I started using it and with the buffs its going to get in 2012 im really excited for it. People lock up, run in the corner, it shifts momentum- gives you time to collect yourself or build meter with fireballs while opponent cowers, or even better you land a hit and go to town- it’s win-win. Reason why I never used it was people could turtle you if they somehow managed to escape but that dash buff is going to be awesome and it brings more utility with custom ex dives, meter gain, improved reversal ect.
I think capcom finally realized that when they gave meter gain within FSE. It’s honestly such a better juri. It’s the rushdown juri we all wish she truly were. Maintaning that rushdown like cammy frame trapping and keeping the momentum as best you can for however many seconds you have is always good thing. If you get damage success, if you can maximize damage thats even more of a success.
It should feel natural using FSE Juri. Your ability to read and keep control of a fight should be at least decent. Big things you need to notice though is if they are standing or not. How were you best able to open them up without FSE on. Do they fall for overhead alot? Have they caught onto fuzzy guard? Do they crack to pressure easily and reversal alot? It’s all on you to notice these things. Most of it probably does come naturally. But if you don’t it can take a few objective sessions to notice it.
I hope this all makes sense. If anyone can tell what I’m saying please interpret for me.
I thought it was natural for people to learn both of their mains ultras. Guess not :D. FSEs too legit of an ultra to be ignored as a Juri player. I think this has been stressed enuff times already.
May I use this space to ask for some newbie advice? Simply, is there any fundamental strategy a newbie who keeps getting his face smashed in can focus on until he improves? I’m talking bare bones here.
I’ve been devoted to Juri as a main, yet I’ve earned only 329 PP over nearly 400 games. With 2225 BP on Juri, I must have one of the lowest PP-to-BP ratios. It’s not that I don’t understand the theory. I’ve been watching Juri tutorial videos, studying frame data, and reading threads here at SRK for about one year now. Fighting game vernacular such as option-selects, instant overheads, crossups are familiar to me. Following cardinal advice imparted to newbies, I spend the lion’s share of my time in the training room. I drill myself on Juri’s BnB, one-frame links, combos into ultra (including FADC U2), instant overheads, and so on regularly (which, to me, is a few hours per week - grad studies consumes a lot of time!). The proportion of time invested in the training room is easily over 90%.
What I struggle with is making training practise pay off in fights. I can never manage to get in on my opponent. I’ll either play footsies, make bad guesses, and lose, play against a scrub who doesn’t respect me, or play against a pro who walks all over me. On top of it all, I struggle with a terrible mental block; everything practised in the training room seems to unravel. Most matches are lost 0-2, and I’m left with very little clue on how to improve. I often go full evenings without winning a single game. When I start losing to scrubby play, like Kens spamming jf.HK, and begin to get kicked from lobbies by opponents I’ve lost to before, I really start doubting my ability to improve at all. Time invested in the training room is not paying off. Combine this with a four-ish minute search between online games and no real-life friends to enjoy sparring sessions with, and the situation turns bleak.
Of course, I need more practise, but this is not the advice I seek. What I seek is advice on how to practise. What I believe is most important at this point is practise in fights themselves; the training room helps me hone my execution, but it is evidently getting me only so far. If there is a foothold on which I can stand and venture from in fights, I believe that it will give my self-confidence the boost it needs to help me at least entertain my opponents.
Sorry if this is the wrong section to ask advice in.
We’ve all been there. I started with juri and really lost a lot. I went from 3000pp to 1300pp.
You really should keep your head high and work on one thing. Say “I just wanna learn this combo” and find a use for it. Say “I wanna zone”.
When something happens… You should know what to do. If Ken is j.hk and you can’t stop it… Learn to stop it. Training room and set dummy to j.hk. Just keep practicing that timing.
Don’t be discouraged. Hit me up for games I’ll try and help anytime. Kailkun in xbl.
