I go to local tourneys and WNFs and stuff but I don’t have enough money to travel to all the majors and shit. But yeah I’m a tourney player (more like a pot monster lmao)
Yea? By your example you contradict yourself. Her fuhajins give her massive frame advantage. Her dive kicks, pinwheels, schp, fse schp xx sweep can be use to setup traps.
Furthermore…what good is knowing someone is -4 on block if you don’t know your options through your frame data.
Every character needs frame data. Some just can get by on feeling. But the reality of it is… Knowing frame data or not… It is the reason why things work.
What I mean is that for Juri all you need is basic knowledge of frames to get by, there’s not really much to read into. There are plenty of characters that benefit a lot more from knowing what their moves are on counter hit than what Juri does. Knowing the basic frame data (advantage on block/hit) is something ANYBODY should know, it doesn’t even require any effort to learn.
So basically what I’m saying is that Juri is very obvious with her frames, either she gets big advantage or she just gets a c.lk. Now you can nitpick this as much as you want saying that “Actually she can do ch st.mp, st.lk x pw as a combo”, but in the end you know that what I’m saying is true, because I have studied her frames quite thoroughly and it didn’t really net me much advantage from just knowing the basics.
I meant not only just Juri frame data, but meant the whole cast. It gives you an idea what you can and cannot punish, and what is safe and what isn’t. I’m serious when i say, if you’re looking to lvl up your game and take yourself to a major, YOU MUST KNOW FRAME DATA! All caps wasn’t a rage at you btw, i’m just giving a heads up to the juri players who want to go to a major. Knowing small things as, Juri’s only 3 frame move is cs.lk, i can use that to tech trap. Or that someone like cody has a ton of safe moves or that chunny has a 1 frame super that punishes anything -1. It’s little things like that that can level up your game and give you an edge on an opponent who is lacking that knowledge you have. There are a few factors that give you an edge in a fight, they aren’t in any order of importance…
- Expirence
- Knowledge of your character
- Knowledge of your opponents character
- EXECUTION!<=======================
No, it only becomes 1f after certain moves, nobody really know why or how.
There are plenty of -1 moves that can’t be punished by it, and others that can.
the window is hella steep and requires either great reading or buffering or os-ing the move. One of the guys i train with plays a chun. Anything that has negative frames are at risk to getting super by chun. That super hurts too ><*
which would mean juri’s very own fireball store would get punished. It doesnt get everything at -1. it has moving frames too
What if she reads it? Juri only gets plus frame from fireball if it connects, but chun’s super is fireball invincible so in essence she makes juri whiff and catches you on recovery frames. That’s how chun gets you.
On block i meant. of course if she reads it and your building meter or just storing then your fucked. But on block it shouldn’t hit.
Rule one about fighting chun. If Chun has ultra 1 don’t stock or fireball unless she throws out a kikoshen. You risk getting punished by ultra 1 as soon as she has it. You gotta respect that shit or she’ll fuck your ass up. Rule two, don’t ever let her get the life lead and full ultra 1, at that point you’re fucked.
You stock fireballs from a far distance so, Ultra 1 won’t reach or bait it out.
Good chuns can hit you from full screen, trust me on this one. Juri stands still and stocks fireballs. She’s open for an attack at that point chun can punish you with u1.
?
thread was messing up. You got a point there most Chun noobs will do it when your stock is recovered all they are getting is chip
Most chun noobs will do u2 and spam ex legs and ex bird wake up. I play a friend who is by far better than me and i train with him to lvl up and his chun murders me when i play stupidly and just stock a fireball and eat a full u1. -cries-
I hear you on that one mash lightning legs all day. I got bodied Chun I didn’t know the matchup and stuff and trying to find Tournament I can attend to in NY it’s lacking tournaments besides Guard Crush. I think I get into the community more and get involved and how do you become a smart and think outside the box player with Juri?
Yea chun can kill Juri sadly. Its gets tough if the chun knows she can kill juri for using fireballs. Even tougher when you get her to the ultra point. Even worse is that her pokes murders.
One thing I’d point out is, Juri’s store and release are quite fast (sonic boom fast), its very hard for Chun to Ultra1 it on reaction, and in fact from full screen its impossible.
To elaborate:
Store is 30 frames total. Release is 33 frames total. Chun’s Super is 7f startup, +4f input lag, leaving 19f to punish a store. Human reaction time is usually in the 10-14f range, leaving chun 5-9f to input the Ultra. So it is possible, but frame tight reactions are required, which is a big risk. So you should be safe risking a store or release now and then if you throw feints among them (feinting slows reaction time since they have to choose whether to react to the stimulus).
The reason fullscreen (farther than 3/4 screen to be precise) ultra is impossible is, you need to dash too. so Chun has 7f ultra, 16f dash, 4f input lag -> 27f, leaving 3 frames to react (or 6 frames from release). That’s not humanly possible, you need to see the animation a little too.
For comparison, Guile’s sonic boom is :lp: 29f :hp: 33f, and that is really really REALLY hard to punish on true reaction. Prediction is another matter…
Juri players (myself included) are too predictable with stores and releases in these situations, and the opponent will guess that after store comes release, and makes a read. You need to mix up the patterns, and do enough feints that you don’t get read (or at least block more Ultra’s than you eat).
tl;dr: People put too much stock in magical reactions. More often than not, its 9 parts read, 1 part reaction.
ive only been hit by her super once and it happened cuz I tried to use fireball store to beat her pokes. Idk why they used super in the first place lol. But its still possible to predict and do. The ultra is very unlikely tho.
