"Mmm... You look like you're in good shape": Juri Q&A and General Discussion Thread

The ex divekick change must apply to outside FsE in that case, makes no sence to have it in just FSE, im hoping the ex pinwheel change gets ammended to outside FSE. The faster forward dash is going to be so OP aswell, I’ll write up an analysis of the changes later outlining why that is though. Also I suspect Juri can now achieve ez 400 DMG midscreen too, I’ll mention how later and such.

I posted a proper translation in the AE2012 thread. Really hyped about these changes. And yeah, the EX DK change seems really friggin weird, maybe they intend it so that you can’t be zoned out very easily during FSE? I doubt they are they doing it for instant overhead shenanigans…

After getting some sleep and thinking about it, I’m happy with the changes as well. I know I gave out about having to learn the U1 properly in the AE2012 thread BUT it just going to serve to make me a better player. I learned how to do charge based ultras with Bison when his U2 input got changed to charge, I can now do the ultra on wake up if I want to, not to mention it opened up other characters ultras for me when I play casually.

Anything that forces me out of my comfort zone can only be a good thing.

I made this thread on Capcom Unity, i really want this fix to make it for version 2012.

If anyone want to help, posting this video on Ono/Seth’s twitter would help:

+5F advatage on hit for 1st hit of lk Senpusha
•+5F advatage on hit for 1st & 2nd hit of mk/hk Senpusha

Just want to make sure I’m reading this right… so, for example, senpusha LK was -4 on block, but if you only hit with one hit of it, it becomes +1 on block? and this advantage doesn’t apply to if you were to randomly decide to something like cr. MP > lk. senpusha inside of max range? Me and another friend i know was talking about this yesterday and i just want to make absolutely sure of this. thanks for your help.

According to what was said in the blog, this change only applies when the move actually hits. Also, LK Senpusha is -4 on the 2nd hit, but the 1st hit is the one which is being adjusted.

I kinda need help with my juri. Can anyone help me by critiquing her by playing me on psn?

Sure man. You should join the PSN Juri group. My PSN is rammacricket

^^^Hes already on the list . Just join our sessions more often Genistar. The better players will be able to crtique you better than I would :P.

Anyone who can give some tips for my Juri play? I simply cannot find good way to play her at all no matter what i do i just lose every single game which usually end me getting ending up in corner and dying there.

Been meaning to try Juri out for awhile. Figured with the recent buffs, I might as well play around with her  I have some questions about the U2 setups. Tried to search the forums, but couldn’t find anything. So apologies if this has been asked 100 times already.

Regular Dive Kick (hit low) U2: This makes sense and seems to work reliably.

EX Dive Kick U2: I can’t seem to figure out how to hit this reliably. Seems like I can’t do it too early, but once their body flattens out I’ve done it when they’re really high, kinda low, and in between. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn’t. Does it matter where the dive kick hits? How close to the corner they are? Etc? Any tips on how to hit this reliably would be excellent!

Air-to-Air j.MP U2: Similar situation as EX dive kick. Can’t figure out how/why it only works sometimes.

(Corner) j.MP st.HP U2: I can’t seem to hit this at all. If I mash out U2 early, I get EX Fireball. If try to wait until st.HP recovers it gets blocked. How tight is this link?

Any advice/insight would be greatly appreciated

For ex dive to U2, what I wait for is when their body is parallel to the ground, thats when I activate the ultra. Works for me everytime.

for air to air j.mp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBv7uo7VrpU&feature=relmfu. The boy Emperor Cow explains it well.

The fierce into ultra isnt really worth doing IMO. its best just to Ultra after the J.mp, or go for an ex dive into ultra after.

Hope this helps

I watched the 2012 footage.

-The forward dash in FSE literally almost goes half a screen forward, its a massive distance.
-The FSE bugs are still present
-Nobody has yet to punish a crouched lk pinwheel
-St.mk has a nice hitbox now

Please show support on the FSE bugs though guys:

Question for the Juri player’s

  1. How you warm up with in training room before tournament or online battles?
  2. How long do you train with Juri in training room?

There’s only 2 things I really practice:

-Links for hit confirming Super/EX pinwheel. cs.lk, cs.mp xx senpusha/fuhajin and c.lk, cs.lk, c.mp xx senpusha are the two main links I practice the most. I don’t really care for most other links.

-Reaction. To train my reaction I usually set Honda to do EX headbutts at different intervals and then I try to punish with Ultra 2 on reaction (at far and midscreen distance). Or I do this with Blanka and I try to stuff balls with c.mp or jb.hk.

I don’t really practice chain combos, juggling, FSE, blocking, anti-airing or frame traps because I don’t have problems with all that.

Stuff I don’t practice often but should: throw teching, kara-throw, kara-canceling and option selects.

At a tourney, definitely bnb and set ups. I work on safe jumping and corner combos. Its the best way to get rid of pre-game jitters. Plus i like to do my finger exercises and stretches. Gotta make sure i don’t sprain a finger and also it helps warm them up too.
I spend usually around 5-10 mins in the training room when i’m just looking to warm up. When i’m legit training in the lab, you’re looking around 30 mins to an hour, and sometimes even more. If you need to get down a fight, such as yun. then you spend hours on set ups. For instance, did you know that light kick dive kick can be grabbed if blocked. Your juri training all comes down to you. What do you think your biggest weakness is? Man i sure can’t anti air worth a shit. Let’s put the dummy to jump in on me. Man i keep eating safe jumps, how do i simulate that, oh i know i’ll have ryu sweep me and then jump in on me to see what are my options. Man i fucking dropped my combo, i think i need some time to work on some bnbs. If you’re not thinking about how can improve my juri, then you’re not helping yourself in the end.
Hopefully that helps my man =)

ex pinwheel hitbox is still fucked in the back I noticed. I heard there were a few more surprises that devs did not tell us about (like yang getting stun nerf) was hoping that was one of them

Tournament, I usually just check do a couple of cr.LK, close.LK, cr.MP xx HK Pinwheels to ensure my mind is awake. Then I check I can hit sweep > meaty cr.MK frame tight (ensures I’m used to input lag on the setup). Then I do Trial 24 a few times in each corner (another getting used to timings thing).

In training room, I often spend hours. Practicing links obviously. Practicing combos (sometimes I go through the combo thread 1-by-1). Practicing FSE chains. Then freestyling, making up stuff and doing it. Making up FSE combos, multi fireball combos, resets, variations on BnBs. I might also focus practice on specific things, like antiairing neutral jumps, or matchup specifics eg. if I had problems with rose, going through her BnBs and learning where I’m at advantage, where I can reversal, what are the mixups she can do etc.

I spend too much time in the training room, I should really play more matches.

Thanks for the tips. That video is fantastic! Nice stuff Emperor Cow.

As for the j.mp HP Ultra…oh, so that’s an air-to-air j.mp setup? Since it mentioned the corner, I figured it was like the corner j.MP st.HP xx LK Pinwheel that works on grounded characters. Eh, either way I guess I’ll just ignore that one for now.

What would you guys rate Juri’s Kara throw? Besides Ken and Akuma I would say hers is third best. But I’m not sure cuz I only know akuma’s, ken’s, juri and ibuki’s Kara throw range.
