Went to a EU major this weekend, SvB in the UK, i did way better than i expected, got over tournament nerves and beasted to the best of my ability, i got out of pools winning 4 of my matchs (cammy, makoto, dudley, yun), i then won another match outside of pools against a Gen but lost to a good Rufus player in the next match, i made one bad decision and it cost me a game i shouldve won lol. I also reverse OVC’d (i anchored) a team in a 5v5 side tournament which was amazing fun and hype.
I made top 8 in BB:CS2 aswell by mashing drive with noel but thats irrelevant, funny troll though.
And I’ll be asking even more, just wait and see :P.
Thanks to both of you, good to know I’m not the only one having trouble with Bison. So even if he does random U2 (while I’m in range ofc) and I block, its still 50/50?
So the general strategy should be slow continuous pressure to push them into a corner, instead of semi-reckless rushdown, right?
It will be hard to get used to “in the corner, block”. Is EX Counter any good? Never used that move, just lp one and even that was more fun/style thing.
Can someone give me please link to current and correct frame data? I found one, but it had some wierd numbers here and there (Senpusha was +8 on block or something like that). Any good frame trap tutorial? I must expand my knowledge…
Nice results there, congrats! I hope we’ll get to see some videos later on, do you know if they recorded any of the matches?
If he just does it randomly, you can just hold up during ultra animation and punish with nj.HK, cr.MK xx Pinwheel etc. Just test and practice it in training mode, record dummy doing ultra then block, then playback and block it / punish. If he does it when you’re getting up from knockdown, you’ll have to block it.
Yes.
Blocking takes some practice, but its a really strong option. It takes quite a bit of skill to blow up solid defense. EX Counter is … risky, since it loses to enemy doing nothing and throw. Its still your best option as a reversal for escaping the corner, but don’t go for it until you find a good time for it. I’ll usually block 1-3 blockstrings from the opponent before going for an escape, just to see how they build their offense. Normal counter is useless as a wakeup since it has 3f startup so you’ll get hit by meaty attacks, EX Counter beats those.
1)As they said, you have to block it standing. If done meaty in anyway, its kind of a blind guess. Example. If you wake up and he Ultra 2’s, you have to guess which side he will go on since he can cross you up. I personally dont like this and think its lame…but what are you gonna do.
2)Spamming fireballs? This is a situation where juri wins free. There is NO ONE in the cast that beat her except dhalsim and seth. (Because of full screen pokes). No one can meet her fireball mix up output. You kick fireballs, you throw them back, you kasatushi, you shikusen. She destroys fireball attempts and everyone trying to match her obviously has NO idea how the match is played. You have options.
Think they’re gonna fireball? get ready. As soon as you hear “HADO…” you dive kick. If you dont hit them you didnt do it fast enough. You can confirm it. I promise you. I dont guess, I see it and dive kick and hit them everytime. If you need to get space? mp Kasatushi. If you wanna give them the Wesker, lp kasatushi (no assists though :(). If you want to take damage casually while they continue to fireball war you can kick a store a fireball, kick their fireball, throw a low fireball. If they throw a fireball after you kick theirs it will usually go under and your safe to block. Same works for low ex fireballs. You gotta get in a rhythm.
3)Your jab wont work. Your frame is a frame slower than theirs. You block it and you watch out for overheads and throws. If they wanna throw out jabs like that, then just make them pay for their sillyness. You frame trap them with Fuhajins.
KD > c.mp xx fuhajin release. Time the c.mp meaty to beat out jabs.
KD > walk up, then walk back slighty… c.mk xx fuhajin release
Jump in with HK > c.lk. this is underrated. If they mash jab your gonna beat them out for free. The HK will be blocked but c.lk will hit them.
c.mp xx release (blocked still) > c.mk xx ex low. If they mash jab the c.mk should beat them out.
Basically, put them in situations in which their jabs WONT work. Make them at frame negativity and watch them eat it.
4)Pressure is hard. You block. You block and block and block. Watch for throws and overheads. Dont reversal on wake up but after, like during their links. Dont do this too often. Kasatushi beats out option selects and escapes pressure.
5)Okay, ask yourself this question. WHAT did you do with Cammy to rush down. WHY did that work? Now find out what juri has to do the same. Crouch techers can be beat by basic frame traps and shikusen. Its tough though. Admittedly so. You need to find long strings in which shes safe. Like fuhajin releases put you at +4 on block, or +10 on hit. You can use fuhajins meaty to remain safe. You can jump in with j.hp almost for free because it hits their head and MOST reversals whiff. You gotta ask specific questions when it comes to offense…
Hi Mike. First of all sorry for counter picking but there is no way I could even come close with a Juri mirror match. Would love to get some more matches in with you if that’s okay? I would really love to learn the mirror match. And I saw your BBCS2 matches, very well played, even beating Scott! Love your mid-match trolling antics by the way!
I actually think Rufus is like 6-4 for Juri, you just out played me that time, totally unexpected though cz i was going in expecting the mirror (even though someone said you would defo pick Rufus on me) which im way confident in, i saw your match vs Slizzle on youtube, really convincing aswell. Wouldnt mind the games either man, im Metallicmike27 on XBL.
For BB i didnt even care about that game, i joined for shits and giggles which means i played super unsafe and mashed drive and did random supers all the way to top 8, nobody expected it and if anything makes a statment about how stupid some people are when they play too overly safe. Scott was actually really free and didnt take a round on me, poor guy didnt know how to deal with Noel (he said he had no idea how to deal with drive mashing, lol), i made Kyzertron look really free in the first game but he adjusted really well (as he should) which i in turn couldnt adjust to because i have no strategy in that game besides mashing and doing random supers lol. My friends knew i was going to have to play troll style which was comedy to them, the crowd on the other hand was clueless that i too hadnt a clue of the game.
For any of you who want to put the name to a face, thats me, trolling at the UK’s only major EU tournament, comedy material if you watch me when i land a random super in the first game.
Personally I think Rufus is 5-5 because at the corner it is really difficult for Juri, which was my entire game plan, and also fireballs don’t do enough damage. If I had picked Juri I would have definitely lost. Alternatively I could have picked Dhalsim or Sagat but I am not confident at all at these two match ups, so Rufus was my best bet really.
I have added you on XBL now. I like how you take things lightly and just for the lulz. A lot of people (especially the youngsters) I saw this weekend take winning/losing way too seriously.
There’s always something new. It’s up to you to find it and help others. I have a lot of new technology it’s just… Not really usable. Also nothing new that I haven’t brought to the table.
Seth is 5-5 with Juri but its the same shit for every other character where you have to guess right for his mixups, the only thing that makes it look bad is when you try to AA his divekick, it just doesnt work, with reactions you can U2 it but otherwise it cant be done so counter has to be used.
Well Seth has an option select for pretty much any situation with juri’s counter so it is kinda debatable. OS shoryuken, or lightning legs, SPD for when you counter behind him. You can dash under the divekick(SPD OS to catch it), neutral jump hk(trade maybe) and probably neutral jump mk(trade maybe).
I never find any Seth’s who have OS’ed me in those situations tho. He still has triple OS’s and I don’t know how to perform something like that so I can’t record Juri doing different counters and seeing how a triple OS would work.
