Learnt a really good frame trap with Juri from watching the Japanese play. You late cancel a close standing medium kick (the first hit) into fireball store, the later you delay the store the bigger the frame gap, also works with fireball release and pinwheel but its safer with store. You can obviously hit confirm that into expinwheel/fireball/super from a store, or into anything from a fireball.
Congrats to the boy Juicebox for placing 9th. I heard from a friend that he made this CJ guy look free. I guess ill wait till the archives come around, but it isnt the same as watching it live. Hopefully they post his other victories as well. I wont catch the end, but Still EVO 2K11 was hype and im glad I got to watch it a part of it.
I enjoyed evo, except ae grand finals, but overall a great tourney. Let’s hope Juri is up there in top 8 next year, she’s getting closer and closer!
I beat starnab kinda easily. He didn’t know the match, specifically that fuhajin is + on block. Also didn’t tech a single kara throw, so he probably didn’t know aout that either.
Juri vs. Akuma, though not in her favor once knocked down, is not very bad at all in the neutral game. In fact, Juri is one of the only characters in the game that can actually zone Akuma out forever if played right. Juri has all the tools to keep him out, and in fact almost forces him to stay grounded.
I made some bad decisions against a couple air fireballs that cost me a lot of damage and mixups, missed a raw ultra punish and a far HK punish, and Tokido read my MP parry against his ground fireball. I think he beat me in this match, and not Juri. When I correct these mistakes it will be a better match.
I wish I could’ve played a Yun on the stream as well, I am very confident in Juri’s abilities VS the twins as well.
Shiii I pretty much missed almost all of EVO due to my shitty net
But seeing a Juri soooo close to top 8 made it for me

Though it would be great seeing more Juri players (but with big fight money on the line, top tiers will get picked), especially some of the master level Japanese players

I’ll use Juicebox as the most recent example…is this the pinnacle of Juri’s potential?

I know it can just be my favoritism for her, that I admit, but I can’t help but see in my mind’s eye Kara Fuha’s creating a ridiculous run down, FSE activation footsie games being chained into combos, cr.MP recovery cancel frame traps, and fuzzy guards extremely practical

She has some tricks yet to be explored, but I think it’s all going to be character-specific stuff. In any case, I don’t think there’s anything “missing”; she feels like a very solid character to me in AE.
Im very interested in your abilities vs the twins. Obviously most of us have really hard times against them. I personally have a bad habit of wanting to punish everything that is airborne so i get blown up for it. I’m curious if you haven some tricks up your sleeves that your willing to share.

Yes, you can hit can hit confirm cr. MK xx Pinwheel, but it is usually a one frame link. Most commonly used ones:
cr. lk > st. lk > cr MK xx Pinwheel
st. lk (x2) > cr. MK xx Pinwheel
cr. lk > st. lp > cr. MK xx Pinwheel (not a 1 frame link, but st. lp whiffs on crouchers).
Found a little glitch. Vs Vega, if you use sc.hk xx low release…works no problem. Jump in on a crouching Vega with HK, use sc.hk xx low release and it goes right through him.

Hey, why have we not been doing this? J.strong > Land > Jump > Ex Dive kick > ultra 2. Seems much more reliable than J.strong > Ultra 2 and does 100 more damage. >.> Am i late to the party?
I use it, but I’m pretty sure it only works if you hit the j.MP while falling from your jump, so it’s not always applicable.
Makes sense. The point is that you land before your opponent falls too low. But even still if they fall low you can always instant dive kick to stabilize for extra damage.

Far mk to stuff the dive kicks/lunge punch/shoulder and j.hp to…what?
I’m guessing it’s just because of how annoying j.HP is. It makes you hard to block and hard to anti-air.

Nah, that’s not important. j.HP is something you generally use from directly above people, whereas fuzzy guard is done from deep jump-ins where you would generally use something like j.MP or j.HK.
I’m well aware. Its just it would create a really nasty mix up. After a J.hp and they whiff the DP, going for it again will ensure they block.
