wow he’s that young…!?
That’s what Seth was saying, though I don’t think he was exactly sure.
Welp… he went back to Abel.
Against a former Abel player from vanilla I might add.
I actually support that move. Make that dude learn a lesson or two for leaving a so called “nerfed” character
Juicebox Juri vs Tokido! Dat dance!
Edit- Oooooooooh.
juice box lost. Want to point out reason he lost first set (specifically, end of round 3) was because juri’s shitty ex pinwheel failed. =.= know that feeling far too well.
except that he didnt switch char because of the nerfs, he just got tired and wanted to play a new character(decided on makoto after playin hawk n makoto for awhile).
I hear that a lot. Why is it people seem to get tired when their character gets a nerf? It sure seems like it. May not be the primary reason, but it’s at the back of their minds im sure.
juicebox was actually doing well far as neutral game go. he just lost once he got knocked down. tokido basically took advantage of juri weakness and rode it to victory. like what can juri do to df palm safe jump os sweep except block or random ultra that will get safe jumped? tokido later on figured out that palm bodies juri on knockdown.
yeah akumas os options are just so good…
and she kept trading off of palm which did win him one round, but it is a trade in akuma’s favor, always. Once juri gets knocked down in that match you have to make a seriously good read, otherwise your fucked. Like D Dollar pointed out, an akuma of tokido’s caliber saw the characters weakness and exploited it. Juicebox realized it was better to try and trade and dish damage to akuma then risk getting os sweeped off a dash and still find himself in the same problem. Risk and reward, but in retrospec it’s a dumb risk that will ultimately lose you the match. Not hating on Juicebox, he’s a very great guy who taught a few things about Juri i didn’t know, just sucks to see him lose in that fashion.
yea, because the way he lost was more in the sense of character vs character rather than player vs player. meaning, he was gimped simply because of juri inherit flaw. nice run anyway by juice. it was enjoyable seeing him but i’m convinced that juri can’t really survive in a tournament setting that is populated with match’s she lose pretty bad. the only good thing is that most people aren’t familiar with her so you can somewhat use this to your advantage. but if they play a top class character and know juri strengths and weaknesses, it’s gonna be hell.
People might get tired when they been #1(for that character) for what, 2 years(with 10k+ matches under his belt) and proved to be a Grandmaster level of the character. He already proved himself/reached his peak with abel and maybe even got bored and wanted to try out other characters too(ok screw the maybe, he said it himself that he got tired/bored of playing the same character). You didnt see him switching to Yun/Yang/Fei, he’d switch to them if he reallly only cared about buffs/nerfs/tiers.
Not saying that there’s no one in Japan who switched because of the nerfs, but most people here dont play at tourneys with cash prizes and stick with their mains in vanilla/super because they like to play that character. Then there are also those who can play more than one character etc. Its not fair to compare Japanese players to their western counterpart in the switching characters aspect…Since the motivation is slightly different. I just felt like your “served him right for jumping ship” comment is uncalled for.
Then again, what do I know, I dont have mind reading powers like you. lol
…and sorry for thread derailing…
Didn’t go because shrug didn’t feel like going o.o; I really should start going to majors soon though. We’ll see~
You should eISH. You’re Juri is great.
Good to know at least Juri made it into the top 30. Wish Juicebox made it into the top 8 with her. That would have been great. Where exactly did he place anyway?
It would appear Juicebox has given Juri a little hype again (Not like RevaLAtions, btu still). Poor Neo.
He placed in top 16, just shy of top 8. Which is amazing, but keep in mind he can cover Juri’s bad matchups with Abel and vice versa. Abel has it hard Fei because he cant escape CW pressure and frame traps very well, he also has it hard vs Akuma because its so easy for him to get hit with palm, and standing roundhouse hits both times on his crouching hitbox.
Juri doesnt really have it much easier vs either of them, but he made it work, which is cool.
yeah. Should be … didn’t read the tl;dr of “don’t care” either
on topic: Juri is a nice 2nd and wild card, I’m glad I have her in my arsenal.
Juicebox said he placed 9th ( I follow him on twitter. )
I got a bit of grief in an IRC I was in last night after saying I sent Juicebox virtual high fives for eliminating Starnab with Juri. Apparently, I’m a traitor to Europe ( tbh, I wasn’t even aware he was European… and I’m pretty sure he eliminated a Irish player earlier. ) The truth is I’m a fan of Juicebox and obviously, he was using Juri, why WOULDN’T I root for that?
Still a bit disappointed JB didn’t make top 8 but I can’t say he didn’t put on a fight against Tokido. I’m still proud of him for Repping Juri so far into the tournament.
High five to fellow traitor to Europe!
The EVO SSF4 AE tournament was really amazing (past tense because all the makoto’s and juri’s already got eliminated :().
I hope they get some Youtube vids up sooner rather than later, I think there was already a vid of the Tokido match, I’m ashamed I slept through the first couple of rounds. It was past 6am and I hadn’t drunk a big enough pot of coffee to awaken to hearing Juri SFX immediately. And I definitely want to see the offstream games of Juicebox ja Neo, especially Juicebox’s games against Starnab and Ruin.
Couldnt care less about the European players either, ive never been into routing for my home country, i like the whole wrestling image the FGC has so i just route for whoever. Good shit to Juicebox for taking down one of the worlds best Fei Long’s though, wish i couldve seen it.
