Albino and I are pretty regular at the Break.

Lately I’m finding it really hard to figure out what I should be practicing next in order to level up. Up until now it’s all been pretty basic stuff like learn how to do her BNBs consistently, learn how to FADC into KD consistently, learn some basic frame traps, her kara grab, instant divekicks, etc. What did you guys start to work on once you had her execution down?

Matchups, general FG strategies, setups after different knockdowns, execution (always execition, your never perfect), FSE (always FSE, you can always improve on this), did i mention matchups? But seriously matchups are the most important, getting hit by the unknown or not knowing how to punish something properly or counter something properly (whether it be a specific move, setup or strategy) will hinder your odds of winning greatly.

Random thought…

If Juri fully extends her arms on her st.lp, it’d have more range. I swear her elbows are still bent when she throws the punch. LOL :).

I MIGHT head there tomorrow to possibly enter AE just for laughs
Either way I want to start going more regularly since AE is the main focus

quick question:
Is there not ANY safe jumps against shotos?
If I wasn’t getting tagged while I was over my opponents head, I was getting auto corrected from the opposite side

By the frame data, no, it’s not possible. If you do a jumping attack in the air, you cannot block for the first 2 landing frames, which is enough time to get hit by a reversal Shoryuken. However, it can still be possible to safe-jump depending on hitbox properties. For example, Juri can safe-jump Ryu with j.HK after HK Senpusha if timed perfectly.

Woo! Getting more consistent with j. mp x 2 -->close hp -->EX wheel. Other bnb’s and gimmicks to follow. :lol:

I remember reading that j.MP can be ambiguous as all hell and will make an SRK whiff/not be able to autocorrect?
I don’t recall seeing if this had been changed in AE
Is it still viable?

I think they made the j.MP hitbox smaller, so this doesn’t work anymore. j.HK’s hitbox seems to be bigger to compensate, but I’m not sure if it would still cause a Shoryuken to whiff.

Hey, what would you say is a better meaty when you score a KD…cr.MP with its active frames and normal cancel properties or cr.MK?
From what I’ve seen, it makes certain reversals whiff and sets you up to punish

Its funny cause I never learned her basic links before
I was just rushing her down…with no arsenal besides poking with cr.MK

J.Hp will often make wakeup reversal SRK whiff, J.Mp can still be used but it never hits or gets blocked if they block towards crossup, they just end up walking forward and it misses. This is only talking about Ryu, other SRK’s like Ken’s seem to beat it still more often than not. Other character’s DP’s vary though, someone like Deejay and Honda always have their reversals auto correct, its damn annoying.

Juri can also safe jump a DP with a j.LP from the right distance/timing. I think Kens’s MP DP is the only one that beats it if you use the “standard” timing because his mp-DP is a 4 framer instead of 3. If done right all the DPs will whiff, even if they try to delay it. If they try to stay crouching it will still hit them because its active for so long. Also works on Fei long. Sagat Im not sure I remember.

It depends on the matchup. On Balrog, I would go for cr.MK a lot because he can’t do anything about it. On Ryu, I might favor cr.MP because it could at least trade with his reversal if he does one.

cr.MP doesn’t have any weird cancel properties like that. It has 6 extra animation frames after the recovery frames that only happen if you crouch and don’t press any buttons.

Ok I just tested the LP safe jump w/ AE and I dont think its possible anymore. Before Juri had this weird property on her jumps that if you tried to make her jump attack ambiguous she would fall straight down(trying to “land on their head”). I think they put it in so FSE wouldnt be too strong and I think thats what allowed the characters to be able to block in either direction with would be unblockables.

It looks like they removed it. Before, no matter which way they blocked, she would “fall down” and hit them from the front, and this allowed her to hit them crouching as well. If they did a srk, they would remove their hitbox and Juri would fly to the other side. Now she flies to the other side unless they block the normal way. No wonder my cross ups seems to be whiffing alot more and jMP cross up seems impossible. BiBlockables sure are still in tho :mad:

She can still do it to beat reversal timing, but it wont hit them crouching anymore, so it can be beat w/ a late crouching srk.

Okay I think I found it in AE. Either its harder to do or I just didnt remember how to do it. Maybe its always been crouchable at least while blocking and I just remembered wrong. I guess you can switch it up w/ a different normal if they start making it whiff or mix in an empty jump mixup. It could probably get you a little more damage w/ FSE you would just have to find the right sequence to set up the appropiate distance. Video should be up in like 15-20 min.

you get the same effect with J.Hp though, and thats been known for ages.

Whats been known, the LP Safejump, for it not to whiff? I didnt know it was known. With Hp you have to do it high and much later and you dont get any combos off of it. With it being much later you dont get the same empty jump mix up opportunitys. That said the Hp is much much easier to do.

Nah i didnt know about Lp, but its a weird move to use that doesnt really offer much hit or blockstun, has the same issue as j.lk really.

I was messing around earlier with j.LK and it seemed really good as a safejump and pretty decent as a crossup to stuff srk’s
Haven’t tested it yet but wouldn’t it be practical to link something like cr.LK, s.LK, cr.MK. HK Wheel?
