Pretty much just this. I don’t care for the songs, save for a few exceptions, but Lauren Faust did a great job of making a show for kids that anyone can watch.
As for the game itself, I’m really looking forward to hearing about more. Has anything else been mentioned aside from that one video?
You assume that people liking a show has some sort of deeper meaning than: It’s a good show?
I’m not getting deep into why the show is good in anything other than a GD thread, but the fact is:
Lauren Faust turned the MLP franchise from a misogynistic pile of nonsense into a well-animated, well-written, well-voiced, charming show.
People who are comfortable with their sexuality don’t care that it’s a franchise initially meant for girls, Lauren Faust specifically intended all ages and genders to get into this show, and it worked.
Popularity comes from word of mouth.
Game looks well-animated, at least, the combos don’t even seem to work in that video so at the moment mechanics are questionable, but I’ll see what happens when it’s actually finished.

In any case, I’m still tired of the MLP meme. The meme will be gone like every other stupid internet meme in less than a year and people will say “Remember the MLP meme? What an awful fucking time to be on the Internet.”
They’ll remember it as long as the show continues to be awesome. The new Transformers and G.I Joe shows wish they were on MLP status.

Aside from the random hate, I’d really like to see more info or discussions on this game, honestly.
I still wish I could find the blog, but all I can find was just random info from Equestria Daily’s website (maybe that blog isn’t even up anymore). The game actually looks like it’s heading towards a decent direction, but only time will tell.
Hope the show remains entertaining once Season 2 hits since L Faust has almost no power over it atm, other than that she finished writing all the episodes (but things could change).
But it’s not a meme, it’s a good show with a large fanbase.

Show was done by the same artist who did Powerpuff girls. That already assures quality, at least to me.

I know that it’s cool to “like” things on the internet now with little to no basis for why you do, and of course I understand and appreciate that there are always a few of you that just genuinely enjoy the show etc. and think this could be cool, but… can you really say that this genuinely looks good, and that you actually think it will go somewhere? I mean, I understand it’s early in development and OMG MLP IDK MY BFF JILL and all that, but… really?
All it takes is promise of wall bounces, juggles, and health/super bars to get hype nowadays? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but… this does not look good at all to me. Maybe I need to watch the show, or play more MUGEN, or… something. Even as a /b/tard, I can’t find the awesome in this. Maybe cuz I’m pre-cancer

Princess Celestia with bird assist- balanced charecter with above average health
Princess Luna with JoJo Bizare Adventure like form change for her assist- keepaway
The Great And Powerful Trixie with Ersa Minor assist- Dan
Derpy with sky drop assist- a character whose aerial attacks must be blocked low and ground attacks must be blocked high with an overhead that must be blocked low, balanced
Spike with those two guy pony assist- quick mobile grappler
The Diamond Dogs with brute diamond dog assist- summoner
Zebracore with applebloom assist- keepaway who has to set up rushdown
