Mane6 still doesn’t have an actual programmer on the team though, do they?
Kind of curious what they’d be able to do with the SG engine without one, but like they said, there’s a lot of shit up in the air with this game.
We do have one or two programmers close by. But we didn’t NEED one to make the game in fm2k (although they helped us out big time with some ‘insurmountable’ problems.) We also have people on the team who have done SOME programming before etc (not to the make-our-own-engine level).
We are pretty bright folks, and we managed to push FM2K somewhat hard with some things. As far as SG engine goes, MikeZ has opened her up and showed us her delicious insides. We are confident we can work with it as it is!
I don’t mean to sound like a Debby Downer, but the fact that everyone thinks the brony community is going to get behind this is less fact and more of a dream.
What IS fact is that this amazing fighting game and it’s creators are going to lose tons of support just do to the fact the the game no longer has pony characters. This goes from being supported by a generally kind community known to speak out with money (Bronies) to a somewhat larger group of people who dismiss games just because of something small they don’t like and will judge it based off it’s original cast (the FGC).
With that fact in mind, the drive has 10 days…10 days to make roughly $335, 000 so that Mane6 will have the right to use the engine.
i just don’t see it, sadly.

It’s a pretty slim chance to reach that high of a mark (~$30,000/day over time) at the pace things are going, but the prospects have me interested enough to put a bit more into the pot. Who knows, maybe a big push will be organized towards the end.

Great, but I hope they plan on either using their own engine, or paying for the license. That donation drive isn’t gonna cut it.

This is just AWFUL. As much as I want to support fellow bronies, why would anypony want to play an amateur-produced fighting game with random, undeveloped characters you’ve never seen before and have no connection to? I don’t understand why you expect anypony to care that you’re doing this new game except out of pity for what was lost.
We wanted to play the original game because we would get to play as our favorite characters from MLP. That is the ONLY reason anypony wanted the project. That’s it. This is stupid. It’s not a replacement. It’s not even interesting. I appreciate that some MLP ponies have assisted but that doesn’t make it useful if the characters are completely random. There are dozens of fighting games better than this one with characters that have development over sequels (and even movies and cartoons). This one just has no reason whatsoever for bronies to play it (except pity, again).
I wish, far too late, that Mane 6 had had the integrity and bravery to ignore the C&D and privately produce and release the original game through anonymous channels. But I guess that’s not good enough, because they want to have their names up in lights more than they want to produce a quality product the fandom waited two years for only to see it get ripped away.
I’d even prefer Mane 6 disband entirely rather than spend their time trying to piece back together a shattered dream with duck tape and twine. Every time I see an update on this on ED I’ll be depressed. And it’s not related to MLP so why the hay is it on ED, anyway?
Hope that name recognition thing makes you stallions feel good, at least. And I honestly do wish you the best of luck in making a great game, though I’m not sure how you can feel good about yourselves or what you’re doing at this point.
However, I can’t currently envision myself playing this thing without crying at the same time.

There are enough of these idiots in the brony community to think that, since it no longer has ponies, that there is no longer a reason to support Mane 6, and how they are doing this all for themselves and not for the brony community.
So what if they are? They got noticed, and now they have a chance to shine and make a name for themselves if they so choose. It’s not about what we want anyway, it’s about them and their lives.

So for the silhouettes i can say that the 2nd and 3rd one are the equivalents of Rainbow Dash and Rarity?
This post makes me sad, the ignorance of some of these brony’s is just too much. Fickle, entitled ass fans. No way mane6 should have risked finishing the game with that C&D looming over their heads. Now they have the chance to make something they can actually benefit from.
If they plan to keep similar movesets, Rainbow Dash would have to be something that could fly. The 2nd silhouette is a cow so I’d assume it’s the new Applejack, but the pose is more reminiscent of Twilight. I do agree with the 3rd being Rarity, it looks like a prettified deer. The 1st one is no doubt Pinkie Pie. On the subject of Rainbow Dash, I wonder what they will do about her. I can’t really think of anything that can fly but still has four legs, that isn’t a monster. A Hippogriff would probably be the closet thing I can see reasonably working.
It absolutely baffles me how someone can completely turn on their heels simply because directly MLP-related material had to be dropped. Claiming anything has no chance of being good because it lacks ponies honestly seems worse than the converse claim that something is bad because it is MLP related.
I thought the middle one looked more like a goat, or maybe a mule. I agree about the 1st one almost assuredly being Pinkie 2.0. I’m pretty interested to see what they do with the fliers too. Hippogriffs and/or griffons are possible, but I think a peryton would be really cool to see as well.
Never heard of a peryton, I guess you learn something new everyday. As for the 2nd one being a goat, I don’t know, it’s possible the ear does look goat like, but that may not even be an ear it could be bow or something. The tail is also a lot more cow like than a goats, Anyway when I first saw it, this instantly came to mind.
Llamas have their own internet appeal. There is every chance that the game will be as sound as before… and then someone will “find” a reskin mod.

Ah, I can see the cow angle from the tail, definitely not a usual goat tail at least. Perytons aren’t a major fantasy creature, but they are supposed to be like a deer with the plumage and wings of a bird (the degree of bird/deer combination varies in depictions, sometimes its more of a bird with a deer head). I think I read they were supposed to be green or blue, which makes me think they’d have very bright and colorful avian components.
