Somepony might have only 1 magic meter to work with. Maybe it’s an analog/variable charge up effect?
Applejack’s seismo has a visual effect now!
To put things in perspective: $500,000 is more money than Awesome Games Done Quick managed to accumulate after nearly 1 week of 24-hour streaming (They’ve pretty much hit $400,000 as I’m writing this and they still have about 4 more hours of FFIX to go!).
Yeah, I guess I never finished my thought. If people just thought about it and considered the amount of work it takes a charity drive to accumulate that much money, they would know that $500,000 on one donation is likely too good to be true. And in fact, it was too good to be true.
Well it looks like the dream of getting FiM on the main stage is over.
Still, the numbers pretty much lined up the way I thought they would.
FiM, huge gap, Melee, huge gap, everybody else.
I’m going to be honest. The rule changed confused me, I’m being really simple at the moment and not getting it.
Can some explain this to me like I’m 5 what will happen if we have the most donated and what happens if we slip?
Donation decides the 8th official game for EVO
Now:
Donation decides the 8th official game for EVO, BUT
FiM has a secured spot in the “Indie Corner” (even if they don’t win)
If FiM wins, the 2nd place on the donation drive gets the 8th spot and FiM gets an exhibition tournament (with Top8 on stage + stream)
And there’s a 1000$ pot bonus flying around for the winner
Basically (easiest explanation):
If anything other than FiM wins, it becomes the 8th game and FiM gets a special showcase in the indie corner
If FiM wins, the 2nd place becomes the 8th game and FiM becomes the 9th game
E: I bet 4chan Bronies will get their panties in a bunch over this
And take down SRK
And nobody will notice because it won’t load any slower than usual…
And thanks for explaining. I feel a bit better now, since I was starting to get the impression that mine and everyone else’s money just got chucked away in terms of voting powers but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions before I truly understood the situation (Which I wish the internet did more of xD).
The only thing now though, Is I wish I went with my other instincts and went with Skullgirls. Especially since they don’t really need much more to get the second spot
Oh well.
Edit:- Took me like 3-4 times to try and post this and it then double posted… rolls eyes
This is a really nice outcome, and more than anything shows that Mane6 are some classy guys.
In the first case, most of the bronies and pony fans won’t care:
A) It’s for charity anyway, and Bronies have shown time and time again how willing they are to support a good cause
B) FiM will be in force anyway.
For the second part it shows that ManeSix are classy guys and clearly how much they care about the FGC, not just their fanbase and professional pride. No one else could be salty about the result, and it means that even more fighting games are on show.
I’d like FiM to be a mane event as much as anyone else, and if the game is complete pre-evo sure, it will be a shame it’s not the major part; but it’ll still be in show, its fully on the radar, and the important thing now is that the pony fans get their shit together and make that side tournament something major so everyone knows to look out for it next year as a contender for main stage ;3
EDIT: Anyone wishing they donated for another game; remember if FiM win there’s tournament prizes for us, and also, you can just donate again for the game you want to win! Your donation for FiM wont count against you as all you need is second place. Good cause.
I could do, but I’m REALLY short on money now. My payday this month only really allowed me to spend £10 (Had a couple sick days and it ate into my pay pretty hard.)
Might donate again later on depending on how I’m getting through the month
Edit:- Anyway, I’ve been meaning to ask. Does anyone still play the Leaked Evo build? And if so, Where too? Since the trotspot.tk server seems to be down and I can’t find anything anywhere about new places to play…
