RainbowDash Fly-Unfly combos were a highlight.
Seeing a 3xfly-unfly>relaunch>3xfly-unfly was pretty cool
But RD’s kit having flashkick, axe-kick, air dash, fly-unfly and divekick… blimey.

Dash has flight AND a dive kick? Top tier confirmed.
Also, I know she isn’t finished but I hope they change her fighting stance, I’m not a big fan of it tbh.
Yeah, I know this isn’t season 1, but hey:

Ironically, this game looks a lot better than anything Capcom has put out in…well, awhile.
The game did generate a lot of hype on the stream.
When I posted the link, I got the news from someone else it was going on.
It was nice to see Ultra David retweet the stream for the Fighting is Magic tournament, given he has shown a fair amount of disdain for ponies. Shame there were so few skilled players; but the fly unfly RD combos were really well received in the chat, even if RD doesn’t even have finished sprites
So is this gonna be free when it drops?
Entirely free, Mane6 make no profit whatsoever on the game. PC based with net play available too, and works with sticks~
Shoutouts to Canterlot Gardens game room tournaments being run horribly.
Really, the Fighting Is Magic tournament was supposed to be at 12, it started at about 5 (I think). People that really really wanted to play waited in the game room for it to start essentially wasting 5 hours of their convention.
You should offer to step in and get that shit in line next year/for future tournies. Only way to get it running~
It’s something I hadn’t even considered, given that I just watched the results on the youtube vids due to being in another timezone; so at least their stream set up was promising
Expecting cons to run tournaments right? Ha.
Yeah it did start around 5. I wasn’t really disappointed, since it was a PC tournament, and therefore I pretty much called it that would take forever to get the setups. Still, it was worth it to see the hype top 8 got, especially since this is still in alpha.
Can’t wait for the full release of Xpadder, Mane6. That pony game looks nice too.
Also looking forward to Xpadder. Definitely maining E3RF.
Hey guys. Wow what a weekend.
I am pushing for Angel over Engel. We don’t say Enjel, even if Japanese people do. You don’t ‘ehm’ with your ‘eh-K 47’, so I dunno why you’d have an engel. It doesn’t matter what the Japanese say, it matters what the english word is and how it is said in english and how that is spelled using Japanese characters. It’s a shame they’ve got it wrong on so many google hits.
Standing stance for Rainbow Dash. No way is that changing so I hope you find it in your heart to like it. You have no idea how long we’ve wanted RD’s stance to be upright so we could animate ‘arms’ and ‘legs’ for once without the character toppling over. And it only works on a pegasus who uses her wings to keep herself upright. Also of course we aren’t going to keep her walk animation as a one frame slide… come on people!!
the tournament. We are going to probably address this on our site at some point, but we offer our sincere apologies for anyone who had a bad experience. Yes, we were extremely embarrassed at the tourney starting so late, but I want to make this very clear: Mane6 was not involved in the organisation of the tournament and was in no way INTENDED to be involved in the running of the tournament. When we did get involved with some INCREDIBLY helpful members of the FGB group who ended up manning the stations and being xpadder technicians (as well as playing) and Fenster from ponygoons, who was helping with the giving away of our posters and generally supporting us as best he could for the WHOLE 12 hours, we got it running ok, just 5 hours late. Again, these people were guests and paying customers of the con. I would also like to mention that we ended up running the other 4 tournaments in the room as well, that the staff took over in the late stages.
Being on PC was no excuse. The only thing that really could not have been compressed time-wise was setting up the different controllers each time, but that is an expected side effect of letting all kinds of controllers in! The positive is that our claim that just about anything will work on the game was not an over-exaggeration! Again thanks to Klisk and the FGB for personally troubleshooting the xpadder stuff. Also a big thank you to those who borrowed and shared their controllers on the day.
I’m sorry for my terrible attempt at commentating. I can talk about stuff I know about very easily, but unfortunately the actual competitive gameplay part of our game I cannot comment on Nappy, [FGB] Oreo, and [FGB] Cam seemed to be the crowd favourites and from what I heard did an amazing job explaining some of the techincal things happening in the fights. I promise I will stay away from the mic in the future! Speaking of the stream, Jaxel was INCREDIBLY patient given the 5 hour delay, and a cool guy to boot. The stream was set up and tested far ahead of time.
Congrats to Hirosashii and alpacha21 for the grand finals, and a HUGE thank you to those who stuck with us in the game room for all that time. We really wanted everyone to play the game and of course with the delay we decided to make it single elim except for top 8, which worked out perfectly time-wise but meant that there are a lot of people who only got a small go. We hope that it doesn’t leave too much of a sour taste in their mouths and of course this is still an alpha build and the final one will be free for everyone to play to their hearts content. If anything it’s made me incredibly confident that a post-release tourney will be an awesome thing since we now know (through being forced to) that we can set up a tourney ourselves (if we can get an awesome streamer again!).
It was an amazing experience for our team and meeting everyone and hanging out (including some of the fans). This does not help those of you who were pissed off at the poor running of the tourney, but that’s ok, this point is not for you guys, it’s just for me. I just wanted you to know.
Also thought that, but the colors are far too similar, and I didn’t want them adjacent to each other.
OBJECTION! We request that the dapper fellow with the New Zealand accent be the only one to speak to us in the future.
Awesome tournament from the stream footage that I saw, wish I could’ve been there! Everything keeps looking more beautiful. Dash looks like a lot of fun so far, I can’t wait to see what she’s capable of once her supers get implemented.
I also use a stick almost whenever I play (pretty much any fighting game right now) and one thing that I always find a little difficult on a stick (compared to on a keyboard) is performing multiple double-tap motions in a row (is this the same for everyone?). I used to play Melty Blood with a keyboard and that was one of the first things I noticed when trying it with a controller/stick was that I couldn’t spam air-dashes or back-dashes with the same consistency as I could on the keyboard. In the same way, when I forgot to open xpadder once before playing the leak, I noticed that I could used Apple Jack’s dashes to chase people easier on the keyboard. I’m pretty sure it all comes down to the fact that on the keyboard you only have to tap the down button twice to use Rarity’s anti-air, whereas on a stick you’re tapping the stick towards you, releasing slightly, and then tapping again. A hitbox controller would probably yield a sort of best-of-both-worlds, but I’ve grown too fond of the stick for now.
I think, though am not sure, that “Engel” is one of the loanwords Japanese picked up by way of German instead of from English. But yeah, since it’s a proper name and not just the English word, spelling it with an エイ should be fine.
Your soft voice has brought peace to all those around the world.
That still blows my mind. I’m glad the stream enjoyed whatever nonsensical ramblings I had to offer, and thanks to Jaxel for not saying “you suck gtfo off the mic”.
Also, ggs to alpaca, [FGB]Kenza, and Hirosashii for the best matches I had all weekend. Hiro and Kenza, I’ll get ya next time. I swear it.
I think you guys should go to nico and see how the subs do it, because that’s the way japanese fans will be used to.
