I believe the pinkie super was only available because the opponent was tech-baited, I’m not 100% sure on this though as I am not the technical fighting dev member
And the Pinkamena “stance” is only a temporary state, with one move, and it costs 3 super bars. Not being familiar with Soul Calibur for a few years I’m not sure how closely that relates.
And yes, there are infinites (we’ll sort them) and AJ has some legit 100% combos against some characters depending on corner position etc. I really wanted to show those ones haha. Nappy is going to have to add some stuff for air combat in general once we start having to balance the pegasus.
Duly granted, but the meter levels we’re talking about are typically going to be round 2-3 combos, which is sensible, since playing without using meter for a round or two is a pretty good tradeoff for 100% combos.
You make a fair point about the magic bar, though. I wasn’t really looking close enough there.
As much as I want to play this game, as impatient as I sometimes get for a chance to get my hands on this, I, and a lot of other fans, didn’t ask for a leak. What a disgraceful rat…
The only thing I can hope for is that people enjoy the broken mess they’ve downloaded.
If the game flow feels good, and people are genuinely enjoying themselves…that can only be a victory for everyone. It can only get better from here, after all! We cannot possibly support the 1500+ people who have already downloaded it, even if we wanted to… so besides bug reports which will contain things already found and fixed by now, I’ll still personally be looking out for player experiences.
I think I’m in the same boat, lol. On one hand, I’m sure that’d it’d be fun to play the leak (in my case only if to challenge some of my local friends who are into fighting games before I move for grad school), but on the other hand it’s an alpha build and I can wait for the official release (Persona 4 Arena and Dust: an Elysian Tail are right around the corner, so I think I’m gonna have my gaming hands full anyway). A shame that someone broke trust like that, hopefully the rest of the development goes smoothly. At least people who want to can try an early build of the game, I guess (any takers for how long before someone rigs up netplay for the alpha leak, lol)?
Either way, it seems like you guys are handling the situation really well and that’s pretty cool! Kudos, you guys are awesome, and I hope this won’t throw you guys off too much, looking forward to watching the Canterlot Gardens presentation!
This is a good attitude to have, and I hope you guys can stay this positive.
I don’t condone the leak, but I can think of two recent examples where early leaks ended up making the final product even more popular: Terraria and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The latter in particular had a lot of uncertainty surrounding it, and when the press build made it out into the wild, it garnered instant and near-universal acclaim (except for the boss fight).
I have faith in the quality of you guys’ work, and hope this situation has an equally happy outcome.
But, seriously, fuck the guy who broke your trust. That’s just a dick move.
I’m not saying we should, (I’m not sure I should either) but I’m also not fully against people downloading and playing it. You cant change the fact that its been leaked, so why not change a negative situation into a positive one. Only good will come from it. Besides it being outdated, people might be able to shed some light on things that haven’t been fixed. Feedback is always welcomed, right?
But someone else do it, I don’t think I can live with the guilt D:
The post above me -- I was done writing this before I got the alert!!! >:[ congrats… >>
All things considered, if you weren’t able to play the game at EVO, you’re now allowed to start practicing for the Canterlot Gardens Tournament. Good luck, everypony.
I’m sorry for doing this, but as the damage was already done, I decided to take the plunge just to see if people’s complaints about tough inputs were justified. I’m happy to say that the inputs are very forgiving, the gameplay feels silky smooth, and the game looks absolutely great, far better and smoother than what you’d see on stream. This actually makes me even more confident that the full release will be a game I’ll be playing online for a long time.
And to all you guys who want to switch up/delete the stage themes… it looks like you’re out of luck.
It’s still a shame that I had to get my hands on the game like this though.
