I went to the very beginning of mane 6’s twitter, showing all their posts, and I ctrl-F’d “apex” and no results came up.

Sup bros. The first splash I did was Rarity. Some of the other guys had flirted around with the splash art before but I felt it needed some more attention. We had talked about the Mario Strikers style a few times but no one had really tried it. I saw in the dropbox Leedin had made a little Rarity pose in flash. So one saturday I spent a couple hours in photoshop making a nice painted version (kinda like the halfway version you see on my timeplapses, no dark outline). And just threw it to the other guys as a cool surprise. Then I thought about strikers and just went for it. It ended up looking pretty cool and I really liked the implied motion and energy it had. I was wondering how to do the magic effects (like her horn glowing etc), and I didn’t want to make ‘realistic’ effects on top of the super stylised look, so I thought of SFIV and downloaded a whole bunch of paint splatters because I thought they would give the implied energy while still keeping it “flat”. It ended up working pretty sweet. Then Anu added his fancy text and the juxtaposition of the hard techy hexes and straight lines worked quite well with the flowing messiness of the ponies. And thus our aesthetic was renewed and we’ve tried to incorporate it a little more into the menus etc. Still very much a work in progress!!
SO officially, since I made it, I can confirm the main influence is Strikers with a few cues from the paint style of SFIV. Everyone is correct!

I can’t see Gameloft doing much more than a Farmville-esque Facebook game for MLP. Possibly some kind of slice-of-life “adventure” game in the same vein as the Zhu Zhu pet games, with a somewhat higher budget, for the 3DS.

I have a suggestion. You should make a stage in Bel Air with a cameo appearance of myself. Many more people would play if they knew I was in it.
There’s already one fighter with Will Smith in it coming out in the forseeable future, and while it is fair to say you can’t have too much Will Smith, I don’t know how you could fit Will Smith in FiM.
Also, Lollipop Chainsaw, I bought that the other day, Twilight Sparkle talking like a trucker is absolutely priceless. The game isn’t bad either, I just wish you didn’t have to unlock the entirety of the combo system.
Looks interesting, but I want to smack Sudo51 or whichever dev decided it would be neat to just reuse Travis Touchdown’s running animation.
