Announcements
May 7th, 2010: I hesitated a bit in bringing this thread here but I’m hoping some of you will be open to coming to this event. I’m aware the number of Smash and Tekken players here is low but I also know there are a few stragglers. If there is nothing else going on this weekend and you live in Ohio then I would highly recommend you check it out. MLG hasn’t had a presence in the fighting community, especially SRK, in roughly 5 years. All I have to say regarding the past is this: every single person who has been to an MLG live event has received their promised payment, and this is going back 6 or 7 years now. The prizes are guaranteed - $7,000 per game - paid to the top 8 players in check roughly 4-6 weeks after the event is completed.
That is essentially it, MLG has evolved a lot since many of you have last seen it. Give it a shot if you are interested in either Tekken 6, Brawl, or Halo. I know a lot of you wanted to see SFIV here but for multiple reasons it just couldn’t happen.
What They Said About Orlando…
The place is huge. It’s ten times the size of my house. They’ve got good systems, it’s very well run. Most efficient tournament I’ve ever been to. - ESAM
The venue is amazing and the crowd is a lot of fun. I’ve never had this much fun at a tournament before. I loved the crowd. It made things a lot more fun.-ADHD
This has been** the best tournament I have ever been to in the history of forever.** I am not kidding, real talk. -Sky
This is my first MLG…and not only has** it fulfilled my dreams but it has supported everything I ever expected.**-Pierce7d
I absolutely thought it was a great tournament. Seeding could have been better but I know that couldn’t be helped. The event was really professionally done and it was a blast. Free Dr. Pepper. I really liked that TV’s were turned off for finals to increase the hype of the event.-LeeMartin
This was one of the fastest and most efficiently ran events that I have been to in years. Amazing!-D1
MLG Orlando is one of the best tournaments I have been to. I love Brawl and I love the community.-Tyrant
MLG is the biggest, longest running tournament circuit in North America. It has the largest prize pool and will be the most professional event any of you will ever attend. All equiptment is standard. All Wii’s and TV’s will be provided for you in a uniform setting. Trained referees will be at nearly every station to officiate matches. The best players from around the country will compete for large prizes and ultimately the right to call themselves National Champion and earn a $12,500 prize check.
If you have never been to an MLG before then you should know this isn’t your run-of-the-mill gaming tournament. This isn’t TVs lugged in from all around the country. There are literally miles of electrical cables, thousands of electronic devices, hundreds of TVs, over 200 staff members, and some of the biggest sponsors in existence. If you are wondering what you get out of your pass other then a chance to compete and an opportunity to experience the Brawl community, here are just some of the things available at each event:
[]Free BIC Razors
[]Free Old Spice Deodorant
[]Free Hot Pockets
[]Free Doritos, all you can eat, all weekend long
[]Free Ballpark Hot Dogs
[]Free Stride Gum
[]Free Jack Link’s Beef Jerky
[]Free Dr. Pepper, all you can drink, all weekend long
[]Free MLG and Doritos branded hand towels
[]Free hand massages

Sponsor giveaways and contests for free merchandise, including Best Buy Gift Cards
Many players easily walk out with merchandise valued higher then the cost of their pass. Will you be one of the lucky ones to win in a sponsor contest? Or maybe you will grab a handful of BIC Flex 4 Razors as you head back to the hotel? Need your caffeine fix? Dr. Pepper has got you covered with multiple flavors all weekend long. Notice one of your friends happens to be a bit smelly? Grab some Old Spice and help keep the smell away from the rest of the crowd. Most sponsor giveaways will occur all weekend long and are easily available for every competitor and spectator.
What is extra special about MLG events is that starting with the third event in Raleigh, the top 16 players in Pro Circuit Points will receive $200 stipends when they check in. Before even a single match is played over $3,200 will be distributed, that is more then most national tournaments give in total prizes. These stipends help ensure that each and every MLG event has the best competition because these stipends provide monetary relief for travel expenses! In addition to this the top 16 ranked players will get access to a special area at MLG events known as the “Pro Lounge” that provides a setup for practice and other goodies provided by MLG and sponsors!
