true story…i honestly almost pissed myself when I saw the ball come out.
You know Jonathan Sanchez is pissed right now. He was supposed to be special because he pitched the no-hitter. Granted it was against a virtual AAA lineup but it counts right. Surely no one would top that right?
This wasn’t some scrub team that Mark Buerhle perfected. The Tampa Bay Rays have if not the best lineup in baseball they’re at worst in the top 3. They couldn’t do anything against Mark today.
It’s not a conflicting statement at all. It’s simply people DISAGREEING w/you. If YOU think it was a good move by the Pirates, awesome. Others don’t agree.
Who do you think honestly puts the best lineup on the field? Call me a homer but I think Texas does. When the bats are all coming together you have to pitch to everyone. Anyway that was off topic
Gotta go with the Yankees.
Jeter
Damon
Tex
Arod
Cano
Matsui
Posada
Swisher
Gardner
Speed and power at the top. Power in the middle. Power at the bottom. The Yankees number 8 hitter is a threat to hit 30 hrs in a season. That’s insane. The lineup would be that much better if Xavier Nady wasn’t hurt.
Kinsler
Young
Hamilton
A Jones/Cruz
Blalock
Byrd/Murphy
Salty
Andrus
That catch was INCREDIBLE.
Who do you guys think some of the all time great mid-season “rentals” are? Situations like Randy Johnson with the Astros in 1998 and C.C. Sabathia with the Brewers last year.
Do you think Halladay will make a similar kind of impact wherever he lands?
The Rangers lineup doesn’t compare. Kinsler, Young, and Hamilton (when healthy) are comparable to Jeter, Damon, and Texeira. After that it’s all downhill.
Cruz vs. Arod? No more needs to be said there. Blalock has power but that’s it. After that it’s pretty much your typical bottom of the lineup hitters for the Rangers. The Yankees still have Cano, Matsui, and Posada. Nick Swisher isn’t even that good and he hits 8th in the Yankee lineup. The 9th place hitter for the Yankees isn’t even that bad. Brett Gardner has an on-base percentage of over .350 and has 19 stolen bases. Elvis Andrus is a non-factor.
In summary:
Yankees 1-3 = Rangers 1-3 hitters
Yankees 4-6 >>>>> Rangers 4-6
Yankees 7-9>>>>>> Rangers 7-9
The Yankees have a better lineup than the Rangers. The only lineup that comes close to theirs is the Tampa Bay Rays.
Mark Texeira was pretty beastly for the Angels last season. He nearly had a 1.1 OPS.
David Justice has a great second half with the Yankees in 2000 (.977 OPS). He played for them the next season so I don’t know if you could necessarily call him a rental.
Carlos Beltran made himself like an extra 50 million with his play for the Astros in 2004.
That’s an absolutely insane catch.
Love Mark Buehrle, good for that guy.
But holy shit, the White Sox announcers are easily the worst in professional sports. I cannot listen to them for even 30 seconds at a time.
The last two perfect games are left-handed! It’s all in the left-hand!
Coincidentally, Buerhle’s perfect game and his previous no-hitter was called by plate umpire Eric Cooper!
I am going to disagree and say the Yankees are the best, but TX themselves have a pretty beastly lineup as well. I always enjoy watching these teams play each other. And love when they beat Boston:)
I’d rather have top 3 pitching than top 3 hitting though. Our pitching is finally catching up, but it’s all about consistency
The Phillies batting order 1-6 is the best in baseball but after that it’s Feliz, Ruiz, and pitcher so their lineup is behind the Yankees.
CHOOOOOCHHHHHHH.
Oh National League batting rules.
I like the DH. Having the pitcher hit is virtually an automatic out and generally a waste of time.
MARK FUCKING BUEHRLE!!!
This guy is so underrated, a great pitcher with good not great stuff, man we are so lucky to have this guy on our team. He’s a very humble guy too, I’m a huge fan of his and that’s saying a lot since I hardly ever ‘worship’ any athlete like a lot of fans do. I believe this is going to propel us to win the division, not sure that we even needed it with the problems Detroit is having, guess we still gotta watchout for Minny.
Wise made a super sick catch, which is nice cuz the dude is just a decent fielder and trash at the plate. He replaced Pods in CF for the 9th, good thing too cuz Pods 100% wouldn’t have made that catch.
Man taking 3 of 4 (Jenks blowing a 9th inning save) from the Rays is nice, now we got 4 with the Tigers at home, I feel good.
But if you make everyone have the DH the thrill of the pitcher HR is gone.
I don’t know if I could lose that from that game.
It’d be nice if they standardized the leagues though.
On Wednesday I am going to baltimore to see a CLASH of the TITANS.
Royals vs O’s BABY! BATTLE OF THE CHAMPIONS.
God I hope Grienke or Meche is pitching. I am going to eat lots of BBQ and get DRUNK. BASEBALLLLLL.
Is it homo gay that I’ve daydreamed about going to Toronto to live out my Scott Pilgrim fantasy’s and stay with Carpet Lint for a week and see a Blue Jays game?
Because if it is, I am gay.
My nigga Buehrle
Haha, yeah they can be pretty bad I guess. But I kinda like Steve Stone. Hawk can be very bad at times but imo is overall just a bit below average, he can be very whiny at times, which pisses me off. We used to have Hawk and Darrin Jackson, which I would prolly say was one of the worst booths ever.
Yankees pretty easily, Rangers, Phils, Rays, Red Sox and a healthy Mets team are up there too. And some might disagree but I really like the Dodgers lineup, it’s fairly young and balanced.
Award for worst poster goes to you, you always have the worst opinions and are the biggest homer.
Milledge is playing so bad right now in AAA, he’s still got that potential that everyone talks about ahaha, but man he needs to start producing soon, he had that one nice year.
Gorkys is playing bad in AA. Dude seriously seems like he’s never gonna make it, this guy supposedly has blazing speed but I think the past couple of years in the minors he has more CS than SB, he also has no power, he’s young though, we’ll see i guess.
One pitcher is in A ball, don’t know anything about him.
Charlie Morton is in the Pirates rotation and isn’t doing too bad, but I think it’s only a matter of time until the league figures him out, as I don’t think he has overpowering stuff. #5 starter at best.
NL games are thought to be more exciting though because of pinch hitters/runners, dbl switches and a better overall use of the teams whole roster.
Man DJ used to look blown for every game. Like he was smoking good trees
