Well to his defense he is batting 1st in the lineup and he play for the M’s. If he had the Yankees behind him he would have plenty of runs. Way more than 35 I know that.
He’s just about averaging a HR a game vs. us (I think he 7 for 8 or something insane like that). This stuff always seems to come back to bite the Jays, guys we let go coming back to kick our ass.
If they can win the rubber game tomorrow vs. the Phils, I’d say it’s a been a great first half for the Jays, hopefully J.P. will trade for some hitting, but I won’t hold my breath.
Thankfully, Halladay is coming back and hopefully Downs as well because our Pen hasn’t been the greatest of late.
That’s normal for Ichiro. He’s not a home run hitter. Never was. He’s a leadoff hitter who’s good at getting on base and running. That’s gotten him to AS games before.
This is the truth. I’ve seen Ichiro in person countless times, and he’s honestly the best PURE BASEBALL PLAYER I’ve ever seen. I was at a game at Safeco in 2004 where he battled Roger Clemens for like 5 minutes, then slapped one of his single season record 262 hits that year into right field.
Dude hits singles like Daigo plays Capcom fighters.
I’d have to go ahead and say Adam Jones. Ichiro has a definite advantage in average, and the runs and RBI difference can be be directed towards the offense that either one has around them…
…and despite of all this, the Mariners are still more relevant than the O’s in the overall playoff picture.
Yeah when you look past the conventional numbers Ichiro’s having another outstanding season. He has an on-base percentage over .400 and a slugging percentage of over .500. His .906 OPS has him ranked 4th among AL outfielders behind Jermaine Dye, Jason Bay, and Torii Hunter. He’s top-5 in the AL in intentional walks.
Speaking of Bay and Hunter, they are or should be locks to start at two of the outfield positions in the All-Star game. After that yeah I’d say that Ichiro is the 3rd best American Outfielder this season.
Good trade for the Cards getting Mark Derosa from Cleveland. He’s easily their second best hitter now. The NL Central is up for grabs and almost any team can win it.
I was just thinking the other day that the Cards were my favourites to win it this year. He’s batting fourth and playing left field today. Who’s batting third I wonder? Whoever has DeRosa in fantasy leagues are gonna see his RBI’s jump HARD batting behind Pujols.
Oakland is going to ask for a lot to get Holliday since that was their plan all along. He was hopefully going to keep the A’s in a pennant race and trading him away if/when they fall out of it. If Oakland keeps him they get a high draft pick when he signs with another team. So they’ll want at least that type of player in a trade. Considering how poorly Holliday’s played this season he isn’t close to worth it. I don’t think he’s going to be traded.
Oh yeah I forgot to do my predictions, just for the hell of it.
AL EAST - New York(as much as I hate the Yanks, they’re getting it done)
AL CENTRAL - Minnesota(Pitching, that’s my only worry) Mauer and Morneau are too good.
AL WEST - L.A. Angels(I would have like to put Texas here but I love that movie Angels in the Outfield lol)
AL WILD CARD - Tampa Bay(They have the best run differential in the American League) Just need to get those wins on the road. Bo Sox will crumple and miss the wild card by a game.
Now the fun part. The NATIONAL LEAGUE!!!
NL EAST - Philly(Look at all the teams other than Philly in the NL East and they’ve all scored less runs than they’ve allowed.) Side note: Washington is horrible 307RS-407RA OUCH!
NL CENTRAL - St.Louis(With the addition of DeRosa I see them winning easy over Milwaukee for the Central title) Carpenter and Wainwright are too fuckin’ good!
NL WEST - L.A. Dodgers(No one is catching them unless Colorado is really coming awake and not just tempting their fans with another WS run.) Manny returns…hits 50 homers in 50 games…and 25 in the playoffs lol. GO FERTILITY DRUGS!!!
NL WILD CARD - Milwaukee(It’s either them or Colorado cuz it’s for sure not gonna be San Fran even though that’s what they’d like you to believe.)
Wayne Campbell: So, do you come to Milwaukee often?
Alice Cooper: Well, I’m a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century.
Pete: Hey, isn’t “Milwaukee” an Indian name?
Alice Cooper: Yes, Pete, it is. In fact , it’s pronounced “mill-e-wah-que” which is Algonquin for "the good land."
Wayne Campbell: I was not aware of that.
