LO Fucking L. Mother fucker couldn’t beat Danny fucking Bonaduce in a fight. What a joke he is these days.

Let’s go Royals! We got Coco!!.. for maybe two or three weeks until he decides to fake another injury and hit off a tee in Arizona for the rest of the year…

save me a spot if there are any left.

Go Brewers.

Ah, watching Seattle again this season will be another joyous lesson in sadomasochism. What odds are Vegas giving that they don’t even make it to double-digit wins? :arazz:

At least I’ve got my PS3 - the one place they can actually win, even if it’s only in my mind. Maybe I’ll try and play through one more season with them on MLB 08 The Show before the new MLB 09 comes out in March (on the 3rd, when I will then start the whole ridiculous task all over again).

Let me know how '09 plays.

I tried out The Show '08 for a bit…just couldn’t get the hang of it, the feel was so off.

I don’t think I’ll ever love another baseball game the same way after MVP '05. That was the greatest baseball game ever created by human hands…I’ll never love another like I loved MVP '05.

But I’m downloading MLB Front Office Manager right now…seems like the perfect game for me. Ever since I lost the love for actually playing the game after MVP '05, I’ve always enjoyed the trading or whatever aspect of it more, and I end up simulating most of the games anyway.

Except when I want to pitch with certain guys and get like my entire rotation in the top 10 of Cy Young voting.

But damn, I’m just reading about this game and it appeals so much to the statistical and fantasy baseball nerd inside of me. (Like inside of me…metaphorically, not homosexually.) All about roster creation, Rule 5 draft’s in it, and you can still manage games from a high level…exactly what I want in a baseball game.

If MVP 05 was the one with Manny on the cover, then yes, that is the very best baseball game ever (A close second being the original Ken Griffey Jr game)

I love MVP 05, even though it’s EA. The batting practice game is loads of fun.

MLB 08 was actually the best game I’ve played since MVP 05, and the first that I felt had that same “fun factor”, where you’re still tempted to keep playing it after the rosters are out of date. It’s really deep, but the nice thing is with stuff like Road To the Show (which keeps the season going at a nice pace instead of slowing you down), you don’t have to let it overwhelm you. MLB 09 actually looks even better from everything I’ve read on it; they’ve got some cool new stuff in it like the new Yankee Stadium, and the ability to record your own chants with the mic and have the entire stadium crowd chanting whatever you tell them to. I love those kind of tiny touches.

As for Front Office Manager, I’ve heard nothing but bad things about it - GameSpot gave it a 4.8, so I’d be wary. Not really my thing anyways, though; it sounds identical to the Manager mode in MLB, so I figure, why not spend the same amount of money and get a much bigger game?

So let me get this straight. Manny turns down a 2 yr / $45 million deal from the Dodgers, then turns down a 1 yr / $25 million deal?

Why?

Nobody else is talking to him. Nobody else has said they’re interested. What the fuck exactly is he waiting for? More money? Years? What? They’re offering you over $20 million to play this year, JUST TAKE IT.

There’s just no understanding this guy.

Scott Boras :tdown:

White Sox fans assemble! Go Chi-Sox!

What I’m excited about:

  • THE CARLOS QUENTIN returning in full force, minus dumb neanderthal mistakes like injuring himself;
  • Alexei Ramirez playing in his natural position (short stop);
  • Cuban sensation Dayan Viciedo, who I’m hoping will make an IMMEDIATE impact the way Alexei Ramirez did in 2008. Keep in mind that Ozzie Guillen already has his mind set that Josh Fields is taking over 3B and it’s “his position to lose”, but I really want to see what this kid Viciedo is capable of;
  • Aaron Poreda (a highly touted left-handed prospect who has a mid-90s fastball). I’m not sure if he’ll fit into the starting rotation considering we already have TWO left handers in the rotation (Buehrle/Danks). Maybe he’ll contribute in the bullpen;
  • The battle for the 2B position between Chris Getz, and Brent Lillibridge

What I’m worried about:

  • The leadoff spot. Who’s going to do it? Is Jerry Owens finally breaking out of the gates? Is it going to be Chris Getz/Brent Lillibridge? (although I see them more in the 2 hole than leadoff. Lillibridge is a KNOWN base-stealing threat, though!) Is it going to be Dewayne Wise?
  • Center Field. Who takes it? Jerry Owens will surely take this if he stays healthy and produces numbers the way Scott Podsednik did in 05. And if not, it’d be a tossup between Dewayne Wise and Brian Anderson (but Anderson NEEDS to step it up!);
  • John Danks/Gavin Floyd producing consistent numbers the way they did back in 2008, while at the same time, remaining healthy;
  • The 5th spot in the starting location. Who is it going to be? As mentioned, Aaron Poreda/Clayton Richards seem unlikely because we already have 2 lefties in the rotation. Will Jose Contreras take this spot? Or perhaps one more acquisition to be named later?;
  • Bartolo Colon, and his health;
  • The bullpen not being a somewhat consistent threat;
  • Jose Contreras’ reliability, once he returns to the starting rotation;
  • Paul Konerko not producing offensively;
  • Who is going to be the backup catcher? Tyler Flowers?

White Sox World Series Champs 09!

Isn’t Bobby Abreu also considered for the White SUX, too? :xeye:

You didnt just do that. YOU DIDNT!! :grrr:

I really don’t see the point in the White Sox signing Bobby Abreu, eeeing as Dye put up solid numbers last year and we are already loaded with outfielders. The only way this is going to happen is if they unload Dye somehow which also seems unlikely because Kenny Williams squashed rumors of a Dye trade time and time again, and even expressed his displeasure reading about these “rumors” on many sports blogs.

I don’t count out the possibility of Dye being traded though, if the White Sox are off to a slow start… I hope not!

It’s pretty offensive that those rumors even exist. Dye is a solid player. Trading him would be crippling. Even if the start is slow Dye would be low on the list of dumpoffs.

Fantasy baseball opens up on Yahoo tomorrow. Lemme know if anyone’s interested in joining a dynasty league.

Yes. What’s a dynasty league?
