What do you MLB guys think? Should I trade one of my THREE 2nd baseman for a backup outfielder or no? Is my pitching solid or should I look for more? If I win, that’s 350 bucks in my pocket.

Thanks!

^_-;

I don’t got much to say, other than I don’t like both of your trades.

Why not?

^_-;

Being hilarious, like always.

And the Back To The Future II prophecy of the Cubs winning a World Series in 2015 takes another step closer.

Although they would also need to move to the American league and incorporate an alligator in there as well (I think it was the Miami Gators or something) before it became 100% true, but whatever.

They traded for Clemens IIRC. My point was they didnt SIGN anyone from Free Agency.

CC and Burnett, I don’t think either signings were good value-wise, but it was clearly a sign of desperation and will definitely make NY better.

Clemens was acquired via trade. David Wells, remember? Good trade for the Yankees.

Kevin Brown was acquired via trade as well, from the Dodgers for Jeff Weaver and Yhency (Yhencey? Yehncy? Fuck.) Brazoban. Bad trade for the Yankees. Jeff Weaver in turn was acquired by trading away Ted Lily. Also a bad trade.

Loaiza was acquired via trade as well, from the White Sox. The 50 year-old Jose Contreras, remember? Also a bad trade. Javier Vasquez was acquired from the Expos, which in turn was swung to Arizona for Randy Johnson.

Corey Lidle and Shawn Chacon were traded to the Yankees as well. (Philly…and…no idea where Chacon was before.)

These are all TRADES.

Pettitte and Wang were drafted by the Yankees.

Jaret Wright, Kei Igawa, Carl Pavano, Sidney Ponson, and Mike Mussina are all the recent free agent SP’s I can think of in the last several years.

So like in the last fifteen years, the Yankees have had four absolutely disastrous free agent SP signings…and one really good one.

I personally think CC and AJ fit the latter category more, but the potential for the former is there with both of them.

The Tigers cut Sheffield!

Who do you think he’ll be hitting #500 with?

i tried to get in but it says i can’t. what happened to the espn league? looks like i’m the only one in it?

We started 3 weeks ago & I reinvited you about 5 times before moving on to other people in this thread. My guess is that since you took the invite after the league was full, it made you start your own or something instead.

League got filled up and we already drafted a week ago.

Yo, I started a league, just for fun, on CBSsports. We only got 3 people so far though, and we need 7 more.

It’s live draft head to head (weekly) and it’s technically drafted at 4/1/09 at 10PM which is tonight, so if we don’t get enough I’ll have to create a new league and change the draft date closer to the opening (which would probably be 4/4/09 at 10 PM.)

Anyway, I missed out on this in the past and I wanted to do it this year, I’m surprised by how few people seem to care about fantasy baseball. PM me if you want the info.

I’m just going to post this now and quote this when it’s September.

Giants are going deep into the playoffs.

Nice of you to schedule your embarassment months in advance. That’s foresight.

I could definitely see them contending in the NL West, pretty nice rotation.

You all shoulda gotten Manny haha, woulda maybe won the West then.

Gotta pick them 3rd, but they can surprise.

Season almost here!!! GOOOOOOOOOO WHITE SOX and astros too.

Warp, the man’s probably right. Here are a couple more predictions from myself to round it out.

Baltimore Orioles win the AL East & then win the World Series.
(Sidenote: What do the Baltimore Orioles and Michael Jackson have in common? They both wear gloves for no apparent reason)

Andruw Jones signs with the Dodgers again because the fans demand it and then wins the NL Triple Crown with .078 BA, 2 HR & 3 RBI in 950 AB.

Michael Jordan rejoins the White Sox, wins the AL Triple Crown with .654 BA, 240 HR & 1337 RBI and then the second coming of Raptor Jesus happens in November after Michael signs his contract extension for $1.2 billion / 2 year contract.

Chipper Jones does not get injured.

Rashida Jones, Natalie Portman, that blonde chick from 30 Rock and Tina Fey get into a polygamous marriage with me.

lolz hear me out here.

This is baseball after the Rays. We have probably one of the strongest rotations in the NL, if not the league. Zito will find comfort facing the weaker number 4 pitchers, and therefore give results. Lincecum and Johnson are studs, and were almost untouchable in Spring. Cain is one of the best number 3’s a team can have, and Sanchez will be a solid 5.

Bullpen might be a weak point. A Brian Wilson save is like a rollercoaster of happiness and anguish.

Now, bats…yes we have a power outage, but the White Sox showed that small ball works. We added youth and speed, and our d has always been solid. OK, I have a few misgivings about Renterria, but oh well.

Look to us to surprise. The Los Angelos Mannings can all go fuck off.

Haha yeah, I’m just fucking with you. I think it’s not an unreasonable prediction. I just had to take the opportunity to poke fun as a Dodger fan.

I like Ishikawa, I like Lincecum, I like Burriss & I like Sandoval. If you guys have a shot at taking our pennant, they’re the ones giving it to you.

P.S. Los Angeles Mannings doesn’t make it sound like you’re making fun of Manny. It makes it sound like the Rams or Raiders came back to LA & made a trade to get Peyton or Eli. God, I’d love that.

That reminds me.

MARINERS + GRIFFEY = CHAMPIONSHIP!

Couple of points:

  • The NL is the league.
  • I think you’re awfully sure of yourself regarding Zito based on a factor that doesn’t matter much–position in the rotation, especially since pitchers don’t line up against other pitchers in the same spot an overwhelming percentage of the time.
  • Chicago proved that small ball works? No, actually they did the opposite of that. They proved that having all your pitchers having career years works. They also proved two years later
  • Your D has always been solid? Um, not really. And what difference does it make how good it used to be when you’re fielding a lineup that’s 50% different from what started last season?
  • Youth is definitely a good thing…you still neeed a lot of work and development. Just because you didn’t notice the Rays until last year doesn’t mean the pieces weren’t in place to produce results, and Burriss/Ichikawa/Sandoval aren’t in the class of the Rays’ young players.
  • Speaing of which, Sandoval absolutely refuses to take a walk, and Renteria hasn’t walked at a decent clip in since '06. Schierholtz is as bad as Sandoval if not worse. Rowand is also below average here, and '08 was his second best walk total Winn and Lewis are just okay, and Ishikawa is probably going to be average. Your only above average guy at drawing the walk is Burriss. Everybody else is average or below, meaning you’re missing the most important aspect of small ball: getting on base. Especiall since it’s pretty likely none of your starters will hit .300.

There’s talent and upside, but the Giants are at least a year away from actually competing.
