MLB (Baseball) 2009 (including fantasy leagues)

Tigers just go no-hit in a spring training game.

A SPRING TRAINING NO-HITTER!

It is significant and yet meaningless at the same time.

Ok to the person who dissed Mussina, lo fucking l. That guy was the ONLY good long term pitcher that the Yankees have signed. He may not have won a ring, but are you seriously gonna put that on him?

Anyways here’s the draft I did last night. I think I did really well and got everyone I wanted minus Mike Aviles who went the pick before. Got really lucky with 3rd pick because it went Hanley then Reyes. Didnt really want to pay for saves and didn’t draft a pitcher till like the 9th or 10th round (And it was Daisuke) OF is pretty stacked this year but with 5 OF spots I really wanted to be strong there.

More like they couldn’t consume their daily share of roids. :wonder:

ROIDS IS THE AMERICAN WAY!

This is the same Yankees team that picked up Roger Clemens in 1999, and won back to back World Championships afterwards. Clemens put up a 20-3 season with the Yankees and took home one of his Cy Young awards in pinstripes. Mussina wasn’t the only good long term pitcher the Yankees picked up in the last ten years, and he certainly wasn’t the best.

Mussina won a lot of games in the Bronx, and didn’t spend a lot of time on the DL, but it’s New York. If you’re not winning rings, you’re shit.

You’re right though: he worked out a hell of a lot better than the entire Kevin Brown/Carl Pavano/Esteban Loaiza/Randy Johnson/Javier Vasquez shopping spree of the 2000’s combined, so that has to count for something.

Since we’re on the topic, do you think C.C. and Burnett are going to join that list?

Roids are for winners, my team says so.

Aren’t the Pirates and the Royals like doing well in Spring Training? Does this mean that they might finally have a decent season, or are they just really fortunate right now?

It’s spring training. Records mean nothing. Starters play three innings. Players who won’t make the team’s roster and probably won’t see the bigs for another two years at least, if at all, play three innings.

Bong is pitching against Japan again tonight.

I want to buy his team Korea jersey and I’m white.

It’s still 3-3 in the top of the tenth inning.

Ichiro is up at bat!

This Japan vs Korea match is amazing. 3-2, bottom of the 9th. Korea catches up, 3-3 extra innings. Now against Ichiro, 3-3, guy on 3rd and 2nd, 1-2 count…

GET HYPED!

Ichiro with the hit!!! Two runs come in for Japan.

5-3 Japan!!!

Hype hype hype!!! :nunchuck:

You know the Detroit Lions went undefeated in preseason last year? You know how that turned out?

Japan now has the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the tenth inning.

ichiro SO CLUTCH!! oh man

Now it’s the bottom of the tenth. If Korea fails to score, then it’ll be GGPO.

EDIT: Game over. That Japanese pitcher just retired the side. Japan wins the WBC again.

does Dan super taunt

That was a good game. Hopefully we’ll see Yu Darvish on a team that’s not the Yankees in the future.

That was a great game.

Ichiro is the only reason I’m not totally ashamed to be a lifelong Mariners fan.

I have a feeling Burnett is going to be gone half the season due to some unforseen injury. However, I think Sabathia is exactly what we needed. However, we lost Mussina who probably doesn’t have a 20 win season in him again, but fellow Yankee fans will miss him when Phil Hughes starts (Hopefully I eat my words and Phil Hughes is this super pitcher next season, which probably won’t happen)

So I read the Marlins finally got their new stadium approved. Maybe they’ll get a couple hundred more people at the games than they usually do.

And hey, VS, what is your mascot doing here?

Apparently they’ll be the “Miami Marlins” once they actually move in.
