I’m pretty sure Rain will as he seems to be a huge fan favorite.
But Tanya? Really?

Wow I didn’t know Liu’s XR is overhead as well…
Safe on block, juggle afterwards for 50% is a great mixups for his low launching string.
Much more BS than I thought. The question is can you react to it and block high in the heat of the match?
There was a rumor posted about future DLC for the game on TYM, I think that is what he is talking about.
Never cared much for Frost. And Tanya looks like she’s in the wrong game altogether (wasn’t she in Killer Instinct?). I also never really digged Rain. I thought he was just another ninja colored purple with a cheap infinite.
Scarlett, Kenshi and Movado are the only ones I really care about.
Well I got news for you, every single X-ray in the game is an overhead lol. Except a few that are either unblockable, a parry or a projectile.
Yeah I saw that guide. But I thought “mid” referred to “medium attack” which is an overhead.
That whole mid/medium/special mid/special high thing is way too confusing for me. They should just stick with high, low and overhead imo.
edit:
But in MK high doesn’t miss crouch block, just crouch w/o block.
His TKP and TKS have a few invincible frames on wakeup, but you can still be hit out of it before the move starts. With Ermac if your not in the corner rolling backwards on wakeup usually gives you enough time to pull one of them off. Certain moves get invincible frames on wakeup and even if you roll the moves still have them
@Vulcan Hades Tanya was a MK4 fighter. MK4 god tier actually
MK doesn’t differentiate between High and Special Mid. “High” can mean either High or Special Mid.
Man i hope some of those rumors are untrue, still hoping for chameleon lol
I hope Frost does come back. There’s a lot of potential in her
^you can see her fighting it out on the Pit at Night stage, if Im out mistaken.
I personally don’t care for her.
I’m aware of her background cameo. Sometimes Kenshi is the one who’s fighting there.
Can’t imagine what they will give Kenshi. He has the same Tk slam as Ermac and a different version of TK push that just throws them behind Kensh (guess it would be a TK pull). He will be changed significantly just to be original I think. I’d love to see a MK9 Tanya, and yea I know im in the minority
Personally I’m pretty satisfied with the current cast. I couldn’t care less about other characters being added although it’s still nice to have more I guess.
After watching some high level streams and some recent tournaments, I think most characters are cool the way they are right now and don’t really need much nerfs. The only things I kinda have a problem with right now:
-Johnny Cage’s Flash Kick. That shit is just ridiculous and pretty much impossible to punish by 75% of the cast.
-Cyber Sub-Zero’s dive kick. I mean, who’s equipped to deal with this move besides Ermac and Kung Lao? Seriously, I don’t know. If anyone can answer this I’d appreciate.
-Ermac and a few others have pretty suspicious jail strings.
That’s about it I think.
Characters that could use a little buff: Baraka, Sheeva, Jax, Stryker and Kano. Quan Chi/Cyrax too if they take away their traps.
-Johnny Cage’s Flash Kick: Full punish on naked crouch by all characters; it hits High. The same thing goes for other moves like it: Nightwolf’s Shoulder charge, Jade’s kick, etc.
-Cyber Sub-Zero’s dive kick: I just tested this yesterday after seeing him on stream. I was not able to make it safe at any distance/angle. On block, Full dash to full punish by almost all afaik (did Not test all, but with the ease of punish it seems universal; Reptile’s dash would be too slow, but his fast projectile should land). This is true even if he connects as low as possible. He lands and looks like he recovers but he doesn’t. He just stands there with recovery frames on ground.
-Raiden and Ermac have pretty suspicious jail strings: I’m not sure what you are calling suspicious. Most string jail and force blocking of the entire string once blocked. The strings while similar to Tekken, do not usually have enders that are punishable by ducking after blocking.
I agree on your thoughts on Buff Needs, but it is too early to really discuss nerfs/buffs.
See this is why being able to record a dummy scenario would be so useful.
I wasn’t sure about Cyber Sub’s dive kick. Tom Brady said that if it hit below the chest it was safe and un-punishable except by a few characters with fast enough specials.
He also mentioned Johnny Cage’s Flash Kick being strike invincible during its whole duration. Though maybe he was referring to the enhanced version… or the wake up version.
Well Ermac for example has a 50/50 jail trap guessing game that you need to block and keep blocking while guessing whether he’ll start looping it again or go for the throw. Either way you are stuck in blockstun, you eat a throw or you eat the string. Best case scenario you tech the throw but then again, you have to guess that tech (in addition to guessing which throw to tech).
Smoke aint as good as people say. His kombos are damn good, but his major flaw is actually getting the combo started. His normals are terribad. I really have a hard time against anyone with medium to fast normals, or zoning characters like Noob.
Can’t speak for ermac, but raiden seems to be fairly standard as far as traps go. What specifically are you talking about in regards to him?
ive been saying this for a while. his damage is impressive until you figure out how hard it is to get his offence going
