^ I’ve only got 321 dash x3, but somebody i know on ClassicMK says he got 321 dash x4. maybe if we tested it as a counter hit you could get more 321 dashes. (some combos in other games only work as a counter, just a thought I had)
Could someone please explain how exactly this works? I’ve gone into practice mode w/ invisibility and fire a projectile w/ another character only to have it hit Reptile.
How are you guys dealing with the noob match up? This is the one character that is killing me. just spam from full screen and soild anti air + other options when I get in on him. It’s just driving me crazy haha
I haven’t tested this but ex dash might be a good option to apply pressure against noobs wakeup options. Don’t hold me to that though because I really don’t have any experience with that matchup yet besides with scorpion. I remember not having a single option against his wakeup as scorpion (besides maybe ex hellfire), I had to pretty much let him wakeup for free because his wakeup anti air kick beat everything he had and was safe on block.
I think maybe your best bet with reptile after a knockdown is to get a slow force ball on the screen to help you get the advantage on zoning. Stay probably mid range when you do it and keep pressuring with force balls and spit after you get the first one on screen. Watch what he’s doing and stay mid screen distance, if he tries to tackle when he has an opening you should be in range to jump right over it and hit him with a full combo. That’s why its important to stay somewhat close when you start your zoning, noobs tackle seems to work best from far away and he shouldn’t be able to pressure you with it so much from up close because of the long recovery, even with his really good anti air.
Also try to hold onto X ray like I mentioned against sub. If he manages to get you outside you have a great tool to do some good damage on reaction to his tackle. Of course use your ex when you really need to but try not to use it in combos as it’s usually a waste. It will keep him in check when he knows you can punish it and allow you to have more screen control.
This is all theory because I haven’t had experience with rep vs noob yet. I do think this should be useful though and it’s how I would approach the match. Hopefully this helps.
From full screen, your best option to get close is to jump or get a forceball on screen to keep him from throwing another projectile. When you get the chance, use dash to close distance. It should get you just outside of max range for punishing his shadows with dash. Also, from 3/4 of the screen and closer, blocked shadow tackles are a safe dash whiff.
On his wakeup, you pretty much can only forceball to keep him blocking. Also, X-Ray is very good for this matchup. The only time you’ll actually use meter for something else is EX dashes to get out of the corner…because Noob’s corner game is gaaaaay lol.
anybody got an answer for ppl that constantly jump over you after block strings?..I tried countering w/ jump attacks just to get hit in the air. I don’t think reptile can buffer a backwards dash like he did in UMK3 to avoid cross-ups so i dunno what to do.
here’s an example: scorpion does a jump in punch 1,1 gets blocked jumps over again jps 1,1…it gets very annoying
also whats the best punisher w/ reptile against a blocked teleport? i’m tired of 32 fb 32 sb 321 slide
If you do the whiffed elbow midscreen and add in some ex Force balls and an ex slide you can get up to 53% highly impractical but for midscreen it has good damage and it looks pretty
My kombo: 321 elbow dash(whiff) nj.p 32 ex Fforceball 32 Sforceball 321 ex slide 53% uses all meter.
It hurts, but that’s not what worries me. What worries me is if NetherRealm wants to nerf anything else of Reptile’s. I did some testing with Reptile’s EX dash…good god. It is punishable before the second hit like no other. Anything with armor rapes it. Kung Lao can spin it. Sub can clone you, thus making the move even more dangerous to use to escape the corner against him. Any character can generic low out of it. Reptile is slowly getting weaker and weaker overtime just by getting figured out. It’ll suck if they decide to make him any worse.
