I dunno, his designs in previous games have seemed to get worse and worse as time went on. I remember in one MK game (I think Deception?) he was literally a giant lizard with armour, which was lame as hell in my opinion. MK9 Reptile is the best blend of old Reptile with some lizard like features to let you know he’s still a beast. Without… beasting out.

Reptile’s best design is the one from Shaolin Monks
It has the classic design and still looks like a lizard.
Reptile was one of my favourites in those old days. A monster masquerading as a human being was just so freaking cool to me. Then after that they just started making him a lizard in armour. Just didn’t like it as much. IMO. In my opinion.

I can sort of see both sides of the Reptile argument. I think that he looks better with the “Klassic” motif than any of the other ninjas, that’s for damn sure. Especially Ermac. Ermac just looks too cool in his new design to cave in to nostalgia.
None of you guys remember the AIDs avalanche that was Reptile’s MK4 outfit? Or are we trying to block that out? I hated his lizard progression too, but the MK4 outfit was still the worst. You can see it in this ending:

the top rated comment on that vid is exactly how I feel about that ending btw. Anyway, I still feel that MKDA’s Reptile still looked worse than MK4’s.

I liked the idea of making Reptile look more like a reptile but design choices from both MK4 and MKDA were ass. MK: Shaolin Monks was the only one that made the lizard look work. I always wonder why Chameleon/Khameleon don’t share his appearance when they are the same race.
Shaolin Monks did a lot of things right. The “Strong Language” sticker on Mortal Kombat IX gives me hope for the triumphant return of “GET THE FUCK OVER HERE!!!”.

I’d rather have the classic “GET OVER HERE”, myself; the expletive just seems excessive.
You know what’s excessive? Scraping a man’s face against the side of a passing train, then throwing him into the path of another passing train. I think we can handle a single utterance of ‘fuck’.
I agree I don’t need extreme violence language and sexual content.
Language and dialogue should fit the character, though. Scorpion has always been a single minded character focused in one goal, as well as being a trained ninja. He only has one real emotion, namely rage born from the want for vengeance. That leaves him cold to everything else, namely the emotional excitement that comes from spearing a guy, especially when it is an everyday event.
These are the type of things you keep in mind of when you want a universe to feel real, no matter how silly the premise is. We can do without Scorpion dropping F-bombs, though people like Jax, Kano, and Stryker seems more suited for that style of dialogue.
